Great video, Thanks! You helped me a lot. I 've got 380 SEL 1983 with 116.963 . I live in Melton Victoria 3337 and I musician and Merc's lover to. Thanks again I've subscribed.
Good video. I ran a 3 inch single pipe from the catalytic converter through an open muffler with a square chrome tip. She has more power over 3,000 RPMs and sounds like a proper V8!
I'm not sure the make of mine, but it has a crossover pipe then resonator where a catalytic would be on a normal us car, then rear muffler and it sounds great. Especially at 6000 rpm. Its a full stainless system. My engine may have some mods, cams maybe since it has a 4 speed conversion done by the PO.
What did you end up doing for your exhaust? My '85 380 SL only has the catalytic converter and no mufflers and has a good sound at a low price. My channel has a video of it idling, revving up and a little drive
+riffraffjazz what about removing muffler, but adding a test pipe (originally for replacing cat converters on modern vehicles). Or some other sort of resonator, so its not to loud.

Any muffler with with 2 straight pipes in and out will sound good. I installed custom made one from FOX on a 560SL.

So what did you isolate as the problem of high idle? Just the idle screw? I'm going through the same. :( I've a '77 SlC 350
Hi, the problem is a stuck auxiliary air valve, in the open position. The idle screw won't make much difference. Cheers, Paul.
Saludos desde Perú. Por favor una consulta ¿ como puedo regukar ek plato sonda de un e300
Haha bugger about that valve breaking! Whats the lay out of the exhaust from the headers? Any resonators along thee way?
No headers, straight from the manifolds, two pipes to to the rear muffler.
