    I’m in Massachusetts and love doing similar rides. This sort of riding reminds me of being a kid and exploring my town on my old BMX bike in the mid 1980s. Love it! Thanks for keeping the stoke alive.

    The pure joy riding like I did in my youth and I really miss it.

    That was a perfect day of riding. You are a lucky man. I grew up in Akron and ultimately Copley before I left for the service. Bucket list is one of your Industrial Gravel rides with you and the group.

      I grew up on the edge of Fairlawn kind of by the Mall so Copley/Fairlawn is very familiar to me.
      We are going to try to plan a few more rides this year but I'm not going to nail down any dates until after out vacation around July 4th.

    Akron! This town is my town... Akron! Love watching the progress of the Rt 8 bridge. Much of the footage brings nostalgic memories of my youth. So cool that I can now ride with groups that navigate the nooks and crannies of the ole rubber city.

      The bridge cut is really cool - I also love getting to these spots that won't exist in the future.

    Sweet looking ride! Our ride today was 63 miles of country roads to get to the “Chicken Shack” on highway 66 for lunch and drinks.

    Nice video and it made me decide to ride through Akron for my upcoming Detroit to DC ride in August. It's good knowing that unofficial trails are available in the area, and maybe there are opportunities for wild camping also. I will find out. Thanks again for the video.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Interesting - I'm considering going from here to Ann Arbor.
      Last weekend I rode the North CoastInland Trail which could be a good part of your route.
      Most of these cuts wouldn't be recommended for wild camping - the homeless already got these spots on lock.

      @David-fq1nj Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@TimFitzwater Good information. Thanks for that. I plan on also using the North Coast Inland Trail, taking it until about Oberlin, and then going more due east from there on highways until I hit the Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail southward.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Awesome! That is kind of what it looks like I'll be doing but in reverse. I think I might go out of my way a bit to avoid the busiest roads.

      @biosfearmag it looked so rad. I’d love to if I have the time and can afford it. Was in Ann Arbor for a little show last weekend and got to chat with a frame builder who was there too.

    I am far too freaked out to ride in those buildings in the dark. Haven't you seen any horror movie? What was the concrete track thing at 8:27 under a big screen? I assume it is not a simple sidewalk.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  Před 3 měsíci

      I wouldn't go in alone though I have friends that do.
      The concrete thing is the new Lock 3 park they are building in the center of Akron.

    Really enjoyed the video. The night shots look amazing. The gravel in some of your shots looks super-chunky. I’d love to try something like that on my gravel bike. What size tires do you run and what pressure?

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks!
      Yeah - the railroad ballast is really rough. In this video I was riding on 44s - probably about 35-40 PSI.
      When we do this rougher stuff I often ride my Gunnar with its 55s though.

    Awesome video. Do you have much problems with ticks when you ride in the brush. 🤔

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I've only ever found a tick or two but they get worse and worse every year from the less harsh winters. I just try to make sure to do a good check after a ride like this.
