Soke Inoue Yoshimi makes fun of common kata mistakes - Seminar Italy 2013

Soke Inoue Yoshimi, Rika Usami's legendary master, discusses some common mistakes that he has identified observing kata competitions. In particular, he demonstrates (and makes fun of) the effects of poor timing on balance. During transitions from one stance to another, many competitors execute upper body techniques before the moving foot has touched the floor. This error often results in instability and loss of power. Only by establishing contact with both feet on the ground can the practitioner maintain stability during kata and perform powerful techniques.
