ROAST CHICKEN | a super easy whole roast chicken recipe (the easiest!)

- Roast chicken is the ultimate kitchen staple! And my version is so ridiculously easy to make. There's just three ingredients!
In today's video, I'll teach you how to roast a chicken, so that you no longer have to buy a rotisserie chicken from the store. My homemade roast chicken recipe just tastes better (trust me) and you can control the amount, quality, and type of seasoning. Plus, there's the bonus that whole roasted chicken has the most insanely flavorful and crispy skin plus ultra juicy meat. It's a great alternative to my baked chicken or slow cooker chicken recipe, so give it a try and let me know what you think!

This is one of those kitchen basics that you just need to know how to make! I hope this video helps you master roast chicken. :) xo - Lisa
This is a staple in our house-thank you Lisa ✨🧡🙏
This looks so delicious!!
Thank you!! A bone broth video would be awesome!! 😊
I also season the cavity so the flavour is inside and out. Also, I place the chicken on top of a rack so the juices drip down to the pan and won't touch the bottom of the chicken. This makes the bottom not soggy and crisp up like the leg and breast part.
There is nothing like a good roasted chicken and the simplest, the better. My favorite way to season my roasted chicken is with salt, pepper and dried garlic. Occasionally, I put wedges of onion inside the cavity or around the inside the roasting pan to flavor the juices; I use the broth to flavor my rice. Roasted whole chicken or chicken pieces make me happy. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe and techniques.
Nearly my recipe!
My only suggestion is to add a a half lemon’s worth of juice to the top of the bird midway.
Then put the other half inside the bird (and give it a bit of a squeeze). The lemon tenderizes the meat and adds a bit of flavor.
Delicious!! 🍗
Lemon is definitely a delicious addition to roast chicken!
Oh gosh that sounds divine!!!
I made this and it turned out delicious. I didn't realize letting it warm up to room temperature and letting it rest afterward would make such a difference. Thank You
We just made this for our New Year’s Day brunch. It was fantastic! I like how you break down the recipe into simple steps. This was the most tender and juiciest chicken I’ve ever cooked! Even the white meat, which my family usually avoids, was super juicy! I also made a gravy from the drippings by adding a tablespoon of flour, a cup of chicken broth and simmering until thickened. Great dish!
This was fabulously delicious and easier than I thought to make. Thanks Lisa!! You are a great teacher xoxo
Wow, what a nice surprise for this Sunday! It looks incredible. Roast chicken is ones of those things I've always been wary of trying, but you make it looks easy. I might give it a try. Thanks a lot, Lisa!

Hi, Lisa!🥰 I don't eat chicken, but your tips cooking a roasted chicken will guide me in making a roasted turkey.
I, also, wanted to show my support!🙏🏾💕🥰
Aw, thanks for all your support Rashea!
@@Downshiftology You're welcome, Lisa! The stuffed pepper soup recipe was great! Thank you, my friend!🙏🏾💕🥰
What you don't eat chicken but you do eat turkey, why? If your worried about chicken being over processed you should look into turkey farms (unless your eating Wild Turkeys that are hunted and cleaned at home). Just querulous.
Thank you! I am making roast chicken for christmas. And I am very much looking forward to the video on your bone broth! :) xx
Excited to see how your roast chicken turns out for Christmas Viki! Be sure to tag me 😉
Nice and easy. Thanks for sharing. Stay well and safe.

Great to hear! 😊
I LOVE roasted chicken, in brazil, for Sunday lunches, it’s either roasted chicken or barbecue. Every time I eat it here in the US, it reminds me of home. I use your turkey seasoning for mine nowadays, it’s just that good!
Really going to try this recipe thanks,
THIS LOOKS SO DELICIOUS!
Straightforward recipe..❤
I ordered your cookbook when you first announced it and I can't wait to receive it! ❤

You’ve sold me…🙌🙏 I’m not buying the rotisserie ones anymore! I can’t wait to try this this weekend, Lisa! Please oh please though, tell me where you got your cutting board that you show at the end when you’re getting ready to cut the chicken? I have been looking high and low for a big solid cutting board just like this! Oh please could you tell me where you got it? Thank you, and I cannot wait to get your book!❤❤❤🎉
Looks Great! Quick and Simple!!
Hope you enjoy this new recipe!
You’re just plain amazing.
This is silly but I didn’t know how to roast a chicken. Simple instructions. Thank u
Love this! Please make the bone broth video! I make my own in my Instapot but would love to see how you make yours!
Will definitely be making one in the near future 😉
Honestly I love simple roast chicken. People forget what a pleasure it is to actually taste your food without a thousand herbs and this and that.
Once cooked cover with tin foil and a teatowel let it rest for 45 minutes to 1 hour trust me juiciest chicken ever.
Lovely!
Took mine out of oven ten minutes ago. Looks and smells great.
Thank you Lisa :)
5:12 oh goodness, I can’t wait to get this book in my kitchen!!!!!!!! 😆
Just a few more months! 😊
Thank you ♥️😊💓 very helpful
Excellent tutorial! Thanks so much🤙
Easy and tasty, so simple.
I’ve heard that in New Zealand and Australia they brush the bird with Apple cider Vinegar midway to make the skin crispier with a delicious ZING .
I love this; thank you so much! 🙂 I am going to try this and report back ~ it's a science project, lol.
Easy, good and delicious, thank you very much 🌷🌷🌷🌷
Hope you enjoy this new roast chicken recipe!
@@Downshiftology Absolutely, thank you 🌷🌼🌻
Great video!
Great video😂…you always make it easy to succeed. YES on the bone broth video. Before Thanksgiving if at all possible 🙄😂

Happy to hear you and your family are loving this roast chicken recipe Christina!
I make this recipe weekly and its best chicken i ever had ❤
Happy to hear that!
Definitely yummy 😋😋😋
Best roast ever thank you
What I generally do is pick all the meat off the carcass and make chicken salad 😀
Haha! That's exactly what I did 😂
Wonderful idea! Can we get a chicken salad recipe?
Mine is very simple, celery, celery salt, black pepper and mayonnaise not too wet
@@fernandom9220 oh wow! I feel like that’s so doable. Can I ask, do you eat on bread or just on its own?
@@surfnyolly eat it on a fresh crusty roll is a must
Hello D. We have been doing the cheecken here since Noah played with toy boats....but it's always been hit or miss. One time rubber, the next time dry, and the next near perfect. The cycle continued for eons. So today in search of the perfect luncheon bird sandwich material for my hunting pack (One must have sustenance) I started looking around and settled on your method. Just got through taking the meat off the bone and I have to say, possibly the best we ever cooked here. We seasoned well with Tony Chacerony, salt and pepper. It was still the teensiest bit raw (cavity check) at 165 so we let it go to 175. El perfecto! Writing to say thanks 10 hundred times. Ya done great! UPVOTE and RECOMMEND! (PS... We went to the store for a rotisserie chicken today (lazy way out) but they're always an hour out, somehow. So we bought the chicken.)
Mmmm looks yummy!!!
Yes! Bone broth recipe, please! Chicken looks great!
Noted! 😉
Off topic - you look great in a white turtleneck (how can anyone cook wearing white is beyond me, this is what huge pro’s do, I guess:)))
PS this is how I usually roast my chicken ☺️ but I also put some salt inside the bird (not the seasoning, just salt), and a few wedges of lemon or a rosemary twig inside.
Also, cannot wait to try the book recipe 🙏🏻☺️
Aw, thanks so much! But I was definitely sweating a bit while filming, especially with the oven on 😂 Can't wait for you to get your cookbook as well!
Wow that looks amazing!! I don't remember how I even found your channel but I'm so glad I did 🥰
EDIT: OMG yes bone broth please 🙏
I'm glad you did as well! And yes, will definitely be making a bone broth video in the near future 😉
This is awesome! My family dislikes turkey, so chicken it is for Thanksgiving this year! YUM!
Excited to see your roast chicken for Thanksgiving! Be sure to tag me 😊
Thanks for this. You make it look so easy. Maybe even I could do it ;)
You can definitely do it! Just follow along 😊
I will try the Roast Chicken.
I think your oven is identical to mine. Which means it has a convection option. If choosing the convect option, wouldn’t that eliminate the need to turn the pan?
Thank you!
I LOVE roast chicken!
I roast it with oil, rosemary and a whole clove of garlic with the skin left on, salt and peper and uuuh 😍
Yum! Love that combination as well.
my all time favorite is lemon and rosemary chicken 😋 and I eat the wings right away too 🤭😂
If their is any question which of you haven’t made her recipes and I am sure you all have Lisa’s recipe for baked chicken thighs are so good I am making them today for dinner and meal prep-all her dishes are so good and her cookbook is a must
Aw, thanks Maria! ❤️
Thank you! I need the basics 😂
This looks delicious. I’ve never made a roast chicken before but I did have a question. Do you need to wash the chicken before hand hear mixed things about that. Thank you so much.❤
The FDA recommends you don't wash your chicken to avoid cross-contamination in the kitchen.
Can’t wait for the bone broth video!!!!
Same! Excited to share that recipe in the near future.
Beautiful 🦃
Buenos días hermosa ese pollo se ve delicioso 😋 y simple bendiciónes ❤️😋
Loved the recipe! Simple and straightforward. It can be cooked even for a weekday dinner while the clothes are in the washer or while tidying up. Do you know if your book is going to be available in the UK? I really look forward to it.
Definitely a set-and-forget it type of recipe! 😂 As for the cookook, we're still trying to work it out with my publisher, so hopefully you'll be able to order it soon!
@@Downshiftology Thank you for the answer! I will keep an eye out for the beginning of December!
Hi, thanks for the great video. Just to check, do I need to set my oven to grill mode or heating? Thank you
Looks like she set it to heat (bake) 425. Hope that helps and enjoy your day
looking forward to that broth video!
Me too! 😂
It is freshly cooked and comes without convenience from the supermarket. Therefore, a clear LIKE. I would definitely fill the belly of the chicken with herbs. This gives a very intense aroma. I use my fried chickens for filling: parsley, garlic halved with peel, lemon zest and pressed juniper berries.
Yep, you can definitely take the extra step to stuff the cavity! 😉
I tried it and it came out perfect. My family and I enjoyed it very much. Now how long do I have to leave 8 chicken thighs skin off, using the same method.
