- I'm close enough to that magic number that I might as well get it out of the way now. And I chose to do the movie that I covered the sequel to when I first started this series.

Also, the "Simba kicking scar off the cliff" scene is another throwback to "Learn from the past".
If you remember, that's the same move that got Nala to keep pinning him. Here, he's learned where he went wrong, thus succeeding in throwing him off.
Details like that are why I've come to appreciate the film.
Coincidentally James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair were also featured as King and Queen of Africa in Eddy Murphy classic, Coming to America! 👑
Simba would’ve been a WAY different character if he was voiced by Eddy Murphy xD
@@beastmaster0934 Fuck no
This movie is my earliest Disney memory.
Same here 😄
Funny you should mention that many adults still have Simba's "child logic" of "being king means I can do whatever I want." That's echoed almost word for word later by Scar: "I am king! I can do whatever I want!" That's the kind of attitude that decimates the Pride Lands. That's what happens when absolute power lands in the hands (paws?) of someone who's emotionally still a selfish child. It's a nice, very subtle exploration about what real leadership means. And it's not the worst lesson you can impart to kids.
Congratulations on making it to your 300th episode! You’ve come so far! We’re so proud of you!!
This movie will always be a classic to me and everyone else. The characters are well written, the animation is amazing, and the story is great!!!
32:05 This along with Clayton getting hanged in Tarzan '99 are some of top picks of most gruesome deaths in a DIsney film fosho
Along with horn king having skin ripped apart from his body.
The first Disney movie I saw in theaters as a kid and I fell in love with it! That love still burns in me as an adult!
Still one of my favorite movies of all time. Long live the circle of life. Congrats on 300 episodes, Isaac!
Actually I can explain the roar thing:
Scar said his dad told the whole pride about Simba's roar, and heavily implied Mufasa was laughing at him, knowing it would make Simba mad enough to try and improve it, and therefore think the whole stampede was his fault
Congratulations on making it to 300 videos Hunter!
This is a great movie, loved it as a kid, still love it today, even though it has flaws but I still love it.
I still love this movie, warts and all. The heart of this one is what the remake missed and why I always say that if anyone wants a live version of this, go to the stage play.
J Louisa lol good advice
Well I love both the animated film and the live action remake of Disney's the lion king
@@jswatch9270 me too

@@jswatch9270 thank you
Congrats on 300 episodes!!! Been a fan for a while. Good job to you and Loki.
Fun fact Lion King isnt the first animated movie to use the phrase Circle of Life , Land Before Time did that , 6 years earlier.
Banzai is actually voiced by Cheech Marin.
Richard Marin is Cheech's real name.
Cheech Marin also voiced Tito in Disney's Oliver & Company & Ramone in the Cars movies.
It’s funny because both confused Matthew and Doug walker have similar problems with Simba’s Ark in the end.
Actually most male lions are pretty tolerant of their own cubs; they'll let them playfully tug at their manes and bat at their tail tufts, and they're responsible for making sure the cubs get enough to eat. They also look after the cubs when the females are hunting.
And they’ll even pretend to be defeated by their cubs, to boost their confidence
Really? I thought they're a little grumpy with their cubs sometimes.
@@ChelseaPariella It depends on the individual male lion.
Fun Fact: Tim Curry was originally cast to voice scar and a snake henchman that scar was originally going to have before they cut the snake henchman out of the final cut and replace Tim curry with Jeremy irons
This is my all-time favorite movie, next to The Rugrats Movie and My Little Pony The Movie.
always LOVED The Lion King it's my all time favorite Disney animated movie
Well my favorite movie is Kiki's delivery service:-)
Congratulations on your 300th episode!! Say, do you think you can do The Lion King 1 1/2?
It's actually been proven that Kimba and Lion King are two different things.
The "evidence" that people keep using in Kimba was from a movie that was released a few years after Lion King was released. Not from the anime series that was made before it.
There is a youtuber on here that did a 2 hour video with tons of evidence against the whole "Lion King copied Kimba" bullcrap. I'd recommend it. The video itself is called YMS: Kimba the white lion and it takes a direct approach to the whole accusation.
I wish people would get over the controversy already, both sides hold proof but that proof is now decades old. Simba was planned to be a white Lion cub but that was during the days that they were still figuring out what they wanted it to be. All they literally got as a bone was that it was going to be Like Bambi but in Africa and with a Lion, that was it. We are lucky to have The Lion King considering that they kept moving the project and several scrapped concepts from one hand to the next, it could have landed in limbo like some other Disney concept ideas sadly did. Anyway people should just enjoy both and finally let that poor beaten up dead Horse rest in peace. I also still refuse to watch that video because we were literally harassed by Lion King Simba defenders on a Jungle Emperor Leo page where the 1989 episodes are finally being uploaded with subtitles. They didn't want to give the anime a chance and were simply there to talk down on us, it is very tiresome since me and many others grew up with both and still enjoy both. Both Lions go through hardships, both fall in love, both make friends and are tested on their beliefs and what it means to be a good ruler. They are both Lions we can root for so can't we just leave it at that and finally let the controversy die
I really love Kimba even my thoughts thinks making crossovers with Kimba would've work if Kimba meets Mowgli from the jungle book that's also my favorite jungle movies of all time very interestingly perfectly nice & the word famously brilliant guys!:-)
@@ShadowLightMewEndlessOceanMew I agree I'm so tired of hearing people calling The Lion King movies a Kimba rip off. Sad part is those who claimed it a good chunk of them never watched the series.
I watched a few episodes and not once did I think to myself. "Wow this reminds me of the lion king." so when I started seeing videos pop up about it I noticed people using screenshots I've never seen before. So I'm like wtf is this?
Turns out they we're using screenshots from not Kimba the White Lion but Emperor Leo. A movie that had been made a few years after but it was meant to be the story of Kimba the white lion (Whose name was changed to Leo) in his older years with his mate and cubs. Nothing about it had any relation to the lion king not once.
@@Cooper016 Fun fact, the 90's Jungle Emperor Leo movie was meant to be the sequel to the 1989 anime because Osamu Tezuka died before he had the chance to continue writing the Leo all grown up part so they did with what they had and decided on a movie instead of a season 2
@@ShadowLightMewEndlessOceanMew You are correct on that. Thank you for pointing it out.
The Lion Guard confirmed Nala is not related to Simba.
I do love both Lion King and Pocahontas. It annoys me that critics gave Pocahontas a low score. Even if it wasn't as historically accurate, it still stayed true to Pocahontas' spirit. And basic idea of the Jamestown settlement.
Face it, guys. The opening of the original will always be better than the remake. Also, when I was a kid, I loved listening to the songs including I just can't wait to be king. YMS does a good explanation on that plagiarism thing. Yes it does have some problems but overall, it's one of my favorite Disney films to date and I'm not alone on that 😁
I love both the animated film and the live action remake of Disney's the lion king
I watch this a lot as a kid.
Did you watch the sequel?
Same here mates i also watch the sequel 1 1\2 & Timon & Pumbaa tv series
@@Twinklethefox9022 My sister loves the second one but I absolutely love the 1 + 1/2 movie.
I loved your review and format. I'm a new viewer currently binging your reviews. Keep up good work.
This MASTERPIECE was my introduction to James Earl Jones & Matthew Broderick.
As a little kid, I sometimes reenacted that scene with the hyenas and Scar (SAMPLE LINE: "And man are they UGLY!"). In fact, at a friend's house, I reenacted Shenzi's part of being on the rock when the dad of that family said to get down off the couch. I only did it once I was doing the "danglin' at the bottom of the food chain" line, and then he said, "Thank you." Oddly, I believe that was my favorite scene from the movie. No, I was not scared of the hyenas or Scar at the time.
I have more to say, but they'll have to wait.
Fun Fact: Simba in Swahili means “lion”
Mufasa and Sarabi named their son “lion” essentially.
They weren’t very creative with coming up for names for their son.
The Lion King is one of the greatest movies of all time, and always will be.
Nalas dad left the pride a while ago to avoid conflict with Mufasa.
The Lion King has been a huge part of my, and my brother’s childhood. It came out the year my brother was born, and then I watched it 2 years later
still better then the 2019 live action Lion King
I love both the animated film and the live action remake of Disney's the lion king
@@zekecasperanddeadpoolzgroovyst I'm so glad that he returned
@@zekecasperanddeadpoolzgroovyst yeah I agree
I also heard it took elements from hamlet also
The Lion King 1 and 1/2 is a homage to Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard.
@@thecinematicmind ok cool
And of course lion king 2 took elements from romeo and juliet
@@thecinematicmind was it also by shakesphere?
@@sjmhadsock4586 I know that the lion king is inspired by hamlet and the lion king 2 simba's pride is inspired by Romeo and Juliet.
I remember that the early trailer for this movie was simply the entire "Circle of Life" number. I knew then and there that I was in for something special. And I don't care how many times I hear Lebo M's shout at the beginning of that song...I still get chills.
Can you do a review on the muppet movies
Congratulations, dude !
I hope you can make a review of Disney's The Little Mermaid someday.
I would like to see that and I hope he will praise Jodi Benson's performance as Ariel.
I wanted to have Jodi Benson autograph my Little Mermaid NES cartridge. You think she’s ever played the game?
In case you never noticed that Sarabi who is Simba’s mother is voiced by the late Madge Sinclair where this was last performance before her death in 1995
What are your thoughts of the idea of a lion king and Tarzan crossover
That might work
27:51 Oh don't worry. The "live action" remake addresses this by having Simba run up to girlboss Nala and not only tell her she was right, but they run to Pride Rock together. Because we, as audience members, are stupid and can't make reasonable assumptions as to how they could have caught up and have to have it explained to us.
My memories of this movie are really blurry. But one thing I CAN remember is not being able to go on watching it after seeing Mufasa die. Bawled out my eyes as a child when I saw it.
21:34 but I love that ride
Believe it or not, but this movie is the 1st ever Disney Movie I’ve ever watched
19:02: Even though Zazu was already filling in the bird role, and there’s actually a Warthog character in Kimba, according to this video: czcams.com/video/vHps2iC8W3o/video.html
I saw this in theaters back in 1994
Even some adult to this day, i’m not naming names!🤣😂
Probably a good idea otherwise you’ll get a ton of trolls coming after you left right and centre.
This is easily my favorite Disney movie! I know there's some small issues, but I'm just so in love with the music, animation, characters, etc. It's one of the few movies I can watch repeatedly without getting sick of it. I think it especially holds a special place in my heart now that I'm an adult, since I can better understand the message they were going for. With my dad passing away in 2016, I've found myself relating heavily to Simba, especially with how he felt guilty over his dad's death. I've felt guilty over not doing more to bond with my dad, since we had a really complicated relationship. It's something I still feel now. I doubt my dad is gonna appear in the clouds to tell me everything is okay, but I hope for some kind of closure like Simba got.
Congrads on 300!
Have you watched YMS' 2hr Kimba retrospective? What's your response?
I'd say Shakespeare's Hamlet had more influence on this movie than Kimba did. (And if you catch a CZcams series called Brows Held High, there's an installment devoted to some of TLK's other cultural influences--Shakespeare's Henry IV and the African myth of Sundiata.) If the 2019 version of TLK deserved any props at all, it was in adding another parallel to Hamlet by making Scar lust after Simba's mother Sarabi.
Here before it get copyrighted
In the 2019 remake Simba and Nala sing this song offscreen.
Um, newcomers are not the term I'd use for the animators of The Lion King. It's just most of the same people who worked on Beauty and the Beast.
Congratulations 4 making this far Isaac.🤩
Ah The Lion King My All Time Favorite Disney Movie And Boy It Is An Incredible Movie
The Lion King is Disney's Magnum Opus.

Review the Prince of Egypt
I would love to see that happen
I would love to call the Prince of Egypt as Disney's the lion king of DreamWorks.
That movie doesn't have much animals in it. The humans are the main and supporting characters.
Someone tell me why did Scar get upset with Zazu for singing it’s a small world
Mayne he thought it was annoying 🤷♀️
Thanks to reviews of this film from Animat, BigJackfilms and yours, I've come to respect The Lion King as an adult, but admittedly, I prefer other animated films.
Also, to make Scar's death more gruesome, a Hyena's jaws can crush bones.
Do lion king 2 and lion king 1/2 please!.
I love both the animated film and the live action remake of Disney's the lion king
@Mercédesz Vámosi thanks
I used to be scared shitless of The Lion King as a little kid and now as an adult I love it. I even refuse to watch the 2019 Lion King
Well I love both the animated film and the live action remake of Disney's the lion king
What I do like about live action film is the Timon and pumba jungle having animals.
Watching this before the Mouse inevitably does a copyright strike. I'm surprised you didn't just dub over the entire movie with your commentary. I love Disney's movies and entertainment, but they're scary.
Please review brother bear, zootopia and the princess and the frog
Creech Marin voiced Banzia
Actually banzai is voiced by cheech marin
11:15 It doesn't help either that technically Simba and Nala were trespassing on their territory.
Welcome to the under 301 club, how tough are yah?
Scar dislikes this video.
Nah. Probably just a rabid Kimba fan. (ftr: I like both lion stories)
Do a review on Kong the animated series
Lion king is my favorite Disney movie ❤️🦁
30:59
You just pushed the Pumba button. You shouldn’t have done that
23:34 As far as you Media Hunter saying "Kimba's Not Here To Save You".
I'm willing to bet 100 percent Leo (That's his original name in the manga series Jungle Emperor, which Kimba was based on) would have helped the Hyenas kill Scar at the very least.
Given that Leo/Kimba is a bit of an inconsistent hypocrite in every sense of the word.
Leo/Kimba helped one Blind African Hunter bring about Leopard Genocide and murdered a bunch of Leopards for no real reason.
And as a club. Leo/Kimba actually attempts to drown a few animals when getting into a fight.
And pushed a giant spider off a cliff.
So yeah. Leo/Kimba probably wouldn't have saved Scar as much as tear his guts out.
I don't like making assumptions. But I think it's clear you did not see a single episode of Kimba and you are just pulling that "Lion King Copied Kimba" Plagiarism card out of your butt.
Minor mistake. But you may want to edit that part out or just go check out Your Movie Sucks Video Essay on Kimba for proof of this.
In the meantime. God bless you. Have a good day. Keep up the good work. And take care.
Anyone who does their research on how many different Kimba series there are before Lion King ever became a concept would show there’s no connection…
Look up YMS on his 2 hour long Kimba-Lion King controversy video.
Isn´t Jim Cummings ( Ed´s V.A.) white?!
Yes
I wish 3:21-3:24 could be done to me. That would feel so good
Lebohang Morake? His last name almost sounds Japanese, but he’s not Japanese. He’s African.
The lion king should be in the criterion collection and to let u know what It is a masterpiece
You forgot to mention the Broadway musical
I like The Lion King
Hyenas from lion king or one of my favorite bad guys even more than scar.
This is my favorite anime!
To me Scar is a better villain, and not as annoying as Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.
And another thing, at least Simba had better character development than both Belle and the Beast.
Wait, you don't think the Beast doesn't have a good character development?
@ChelseaPariella , The Beast is just nothing but an angry asshole, Simba was not. And Belle was just an annoying singer.

Scar exploited it to the point of traumatizing him and exiling him (or even tried to kill him). It’s that gullibility why Simba believed that lie! He wasn’t going back to own up to a lie, he was going back to stop being a gullible moron! Even the remake went further by having him say “My father, your own brother, HOW COULD YOU!!!” As if his own eyes were open to the truth! I finally get why people don’t understand the scene before!!! My God... that makes Simba’s Pride and Lion Guard even worse!
