Blended Cellar Yup, they messed up, fly'n low is dangerous if not stupid. The machine is under powered for the price, I wouldn't spend a quarter million for 100 hp. Double that power might have saved them at Berryessa...I don't know if that would be enough but excess power COULD have saved them from their dumb mistake. I want 300 hp min. for that price, performance is security.
Nothing would have saved the icon employees. By the time they realized where they had flown it was too late, and they couldn't regain altitude to get out. As to Halladay there is video surfacing of him doing hard left banking dives over the gulf, many of those he dove below minimums. In one of those dives the right slip is quite visible. It appeared he didn't even touch the rudder. That was probably the one that got him.
I would suggest maybe getting a sea wind 3000 if you’re in a budget area for an light sport amphibious plane. Looks amazing, handles well and can even land on snow, gravel and grass.
No, this was just a one hour flight on a factory plane. Production airplanes should be ready this summer. Visit www.iconaircraft.com for the latest info.
Hope they can mass produce them already. I would definitely buy one, but I'm scared of giving a deposit and being on "hold" for many years. (So many scenarios can happen to a startup over YEARS time) A deposit and then delivery in 5 or 6 months MAX is my limit. I know there are probably hundreds if not thousands of people like me. If they can decrease the time between deposit and delivery. They would be booming.
All three crashes are pilot error. Only thing fatal so far are idiot pilots. Just like the rich guy with no experience who bought the A Star helicopter and crashed at Palomar Airport.
Beautiful plain can't wait to receive mine but I'm taking mine to Florida and over to the Bahamas not in no filthy lake or West Coast ocean hell no that Lake looks terrible sewer lake what they oughta call that Lake
Wasn't it closer to 400k before? Nothing like cost cutting on equipment that has failed. Bet they are just trying to get orders in and declare bankruptcy.
Isn't that cute? Another way for rich kids to be noisy and annoying. Fortunately, this way they'll die with some regularity. Not enough but it's some recompense.
A form of population control for those with the resources to purchase one and treat like a toy. Use and maintain it properly and you should be alright.
reminds me of a Jet ski with wings.
Thank you for this wonderful video! I miss Lake Berryessa.
This video has made me GIDDY!! WOWWWWW!! Looks like so much fun!! I want one!!!
johnvannewhouse ....yeah, until it's over 😑
Everyone in this video has now been killed in crashes!
RIP.........
Nice vid. Thx for uploading and thx for NOT adding music.
this is what a personal aircraft should be in the 21st century. I'm really curious about the maintenance specs. TBO and such
Here is all you need to know It's $$$$$$$$$$$$
look at the Super Petrel LS instead. Much less $$ and is a much better plane. www.superpetrelusa.com
@@texasbuilt1066 lmao
Wow, The lake is back to capacity! Much prettier.
If you like BROWN water I guess!
This is used for drinking water?
Awesome!
Looks a great little plane but like all light aircraft needs to be flown cautiously
Sounds like flying lawnmower
Incredibly dangerous flying! Just one moment of incorrect inputs and you’re dead.
The prefect plane for quick get always the misses.. think I'll call it little Nelly for you Bond fans..
A jetski with wings is a hell of a fun toy but a dangerous one indeed.
Isn't that where two crashed and died on the a5?
Crazy. It's same lake. Both were employees of the company.

If it had more power it would lose it's Light Sport Aircraft rating.

Ron Halladay's ICON is a watercraft too.
WAS.........
Wonder if you can make it into a water bomber
hi I live in the area and I was wondering what airport did you land at Yolo County? or in Vacaville?
Nut Tree Airport (KVCB) in Vacaville, CA
Roy Halladay must of learned to fly the A5 from Jon Karkow as it appears they both just turned off or ignored the AA safety system.
Nice!!!
Aww, you skipped the water landing internal view?
cut all the good bits
do you need a pilots license, or a boat operator license to operate a ICON 5
Given the accidents of these 'flying coffins' how can they justify raising the initial cost from $189,000 to $280,000 and now $389,000?
More practical: 4 Seat version.
Not really. Wouldn't be as easily towable. The wings and fuselage would have to be larger. Let alone in the light-sport class.
Годнота!
Are they actually producing these now, or are these only factory airplanes?
Factory planes for now, production airplanes should be ready this summer. Visit www.iconaircraft.com for the latest info.
I am so posses at this company.. these planes have more then doubled in price from the beginning and 389k is to much for a light sport..
I would suggest maybe getting a sea wind 3000 if you’re in a budget area for an light sport amphibious plane. Looks amazing, handles well and can even land on snow, gravel and grass.
A plane with a lawn mower engine. WHAT could go Wrong?
How much dollar??
Brave
You own one?

I think I’ll pass on purchasing one of your death planes...☠️

Nut Tree Airport (KVCB) in Vacaville, CA

Now this model is famous--for how fatal it is.
All three crashes are pilot error. Only thing fatal so far are idiot pilots. Just like the rich guy with no experience who bought the A Star helicopter and crashed at Palomar Airport.

The plane is safe, but its marketed to idiots as a toy. Many crashes will follow.

is the icon A5 electric or gas?
Gas. Mogas or avgas.
Rubber bands.........
Not a fan of folding wings--convenient yes but it's another failure point.
*LOUD*
Lucky you weren't flying last month. Not sure what the future of the company is.
Wasn't it closer to 400k before? Nothing like cost cutting on equipment that has failed. Bet they are just trying to get orders in and declare bankruptcy.
Quanto custa?
$500000
😱😨
pretty cool but marketing it as a toy? not so cool..it'll kill ya...in a new York minute...

Get back in your trailer.
Texas Built Go flying and fly really low. Carve some turns. Explore some canyons.
