    hi I love your post always helpful I do have a question I have sman 460 I calibrate clamps to 32 degrees with ice no problem but when I try to calibrate to Freon r410 I get error clamp temp never matches Freon temp can that be adjusted or how do I fix that

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 6 lety

      So how much superheat are you reading on your 460 before you press the test button? Is there moving air in the room where you are testing such as the ac running because that clamp will pick up the temp in the room and the bottle temp will still be at the original temp until it catches up. The bottle has to be kept in a room with a constant temp several hours before testing and preferably even longer to be sure, thanks Edward!

    • @edwardmannar9307
      @edwardmannar9307 Před 6 lety

      thanks for reply I didn't pay attention to superheat the bottle was in room for about 4hrs and ac was not running I will try again the weekend and let the bottle sit in room over night what should my superheat be reading?

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 6 lety +2

      The superheat should be under 1 degree away and is the difference between what the sman460 says the sat temp is due to the pressure read compared to the actual tank/room temp. The sman460 doesn't know you are not checking the charge of a running system but will calculate the superheat reading automatically, thanks!

    @allencar5212 Před 5 lety

    Are you required to use the manufacturer supplied clamp-on temperature probes or can you use any good Type K thermocouple taped to the copper tubing and covered with some thermal insulation? A small, low mass, surface thermocouple would actually provide more accurate line temperature; provided the Fieldpiece device will accept the standard Type K thermocouple.
    The temperature of a thermocouple is determined by measuring the milli-volt generated by the 2 dissimilar metals fused together at the thermocouple bead. The voltage produced varies with temperature.
    A Mastercool 99103 -A uses type K thermocouples and can be calibrated but I don't know if you are required to use only their probes (technical support has not replied to my question). The Testo devices use a different technology; they use thermistors which are more expensive and a little more accurate.
    Thanks for your videos. I really like the one comparing low loss hose connectors.

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 5 lety

      Thanks A Carter! I have the k-type bead sensors from Fieldpiece at the top row on this page,- amazon.com/shop/acservicetech - and Fieldpiece tools are meant for their brand bead sensors as you see their tabs are different where they connect into the tool. Otherwise you could calibrate any bead type bead sensors on the SMAN, thanks

    Hi acservicetech gerkn here again, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out the best set of digital gauges to buy. I have the YJ titan and JB 2 valve but I really want a digital set and can't decide between fieldpiecesman460 or a testo 550. Those are the 2 I look at most, what do you think is a better buy for a first set of digitals......also, do you have to switch the lines for heat pumps in the winter with digitals or does it do it for you? Thanks acservicetech ✌

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 6 lety

      Both are great quality. I am partial to the fieldpiece though. What do you mean in reference to switching lines? You would have to do that yourelf if you were on the liquid and vapor line for cooling. You would take the low side and move it to the true vapor third port and the high side can get connected to the vapor port. However you can't check the refrigerant charge unless it is in cooling mode and 70 degrees or above unless you have a charging jacket which can work down to 40 degrees outdoor ambient, or unless you are using total refrigerant weight method. Thanks

    • @gloiban
      @gloiban Před 6 lety

      acservicetech I was asking about switching ports cause somebody told me that with digitals you could leave the low(not the true suction valve) and high side on both king valve cores. I was told the digitals did it for you. This didn't make sense to me since I've been working on heat pumps for about 9 months now. Thanx again acservicetech.

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 6 lety

      You wouldn't really want it to switch anyway as you would want to see the low side from true suction anyway. I am not aware of such feature on the sman's thanks

    Hi acservicetech, I just have a question not related to this video and I need some advice, so I quit my old HVAC job to go to this other company that was a bigger company and more pay mind you that I'm only 7 months in this trade and after the first day at the end of the day I was given a "non competition agreement " paper stating that if I ever left for whatever reason this company says I can't work in a 50 mile radius of the shop and that if they find out I am breaking this rule in place they would take me to court that . I was wondering if this practice is common ?because the last company I worked for there wasn't really any growth and I don't want to be in a huge company if they are going to put these insane rules in place. Thank you.

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 6 lety

      50 miles is a long distance. So they don't want you to work if you leave them basically? The county where I work in is only 10 miles wide by 25 miles long. There are at least 50 HVAC companies here. None of us could ever sign a contract like that. Is there a time frame such as 6 months or 1 year such as you can't work for a company withing a 50 mile radius within the first 6 months of leaving. I would explain I just started with you. How can you expect me to sign something like this? I am sorry Rob!

    • @robevans8629
      @robevans8629 Před 6 lety

      I believe you said in one of your videos you work out of NJ I live in central NJ you might know this company its called Fras Service Experts. I had to quit after the very first day, the document also stated that I couldn't work 50 miles from that particular shop for 12 months.

      Rob Evans and you should stick w the company and gain few years experience before you go run off looking for better pay you think 7 months is enough to get you paid higher all these companies employee's meet at supply houses and hvac related stuff they'll all gossip about you now so if I were you I'd zip up and gain the experience because you are getting paid for it instead of going to a college and paying out pocket to be taught you signed the con tract now you are held liable because your signature is on it agreeing to the contract you want to risk going too work with in 50miles radius then go head and risk it if that company wants to go after you they have every right plus you're on CZcams snitching out companies names that's very bad if I had a employee like you I'd make sure everyone knew about your snitching attitude and make sure no one hired you so you better straighten up and zip your lips and earn your weight
