I work for the school district for foothills.I love it.I think it's a great part of town.I couldn't afford to buy a house there if my life depended on it. A lot of rude stuck up people. Not too many services.I live in Catalina just outside of Oro Valley. And yes, there is a lot of mountain lions and snakes, but the views are spectacular. The school district like I said I work for it really is top notch. I say if you have that kind of money then go ahead and go for it.Otherwise if you want to have a little more services a little less travel and have nicer neighbors perhaps Oro Valley or where i'm at or Mariana.

I have heard it is a great school district and any of our clients that have been researching areas to live for the school district, tend to go with Vail or Catalina Foothills.

Awesome tour of that part of town….thank you very much. Wow…this looks like an incredible part of town (minus the cost)-- outdoor activities, scenery, eateries and shopping, etc. I love the vast amounts of plant life in this part of town. And…if that Loop Trail goes through there, that is a bonus!

The loop does go through there! It is definitely one of the more expensive parts of Tucson, but very beautiful!

@tucsonarizonaliving ha...when I was in the army, I was stationed in Germany for a couple of years back in the 90s. I would take my kids camping in Switzerland to give my wife a break. Switzerland was really expensive. I used to just say that we were paying for the beauty. So...I do have a track record of paying for the views.

@campingalan my dad grew up in Germany for a while when his family was stationed there, I will have to ask if he ever went to Switzerland! It is definitely on my travel list and while Catalina Foothills probably doesn't compare to Switzerland, it has a very natural beauty to it being set right in to the Catalina Mountains, and the views are hard to beat! Oro Valley and Vail have some pretty amazing views too!

@@tucsonarizonaliving oh wow….that is awesome! Well….Switzerland is incredibly beautiful. But, so is the AZ desert! They are just completely different. When you talk to a German that came to the US to sightsee, aside from the city visitors to NYC or L.A., chances are they came to the Grand Canyon and points beyond in other parts of the US deserts. Where we live in Ouray, Colorado, it is touted as the Switzerland of America.
My dad was in the Army also. So, half of my grade schooling was on the east coast, and the second half was down in Central America. When it was time to go to college, I picked Colorado. The day before the 1st day of college was the first time I had been west of the Mississippi. Ha…a period of mental depression was driving through Kansas and the relative flatness; I cross the Colorado border and there was not a hill to be seen. For about 2 hrs, I thought I made a huge mistake. Anyways, in college, I got 2 books that shaped the future…..a Sierra Club book called The Desert Southwest and the book by Edward Abbey called Desert Solitare. In it, he moved to the Moab area before Moab was Moab. That began my liking of the desert areas.

It has a wildlife problem. Scorpions and snakes and mountain lions, cyotes.

We enjoy the wildlife(from a safe distance). Could do without the scorpions though! Are you in the foothills area?
