i know they say uni years are some of the best of your life, but this song will always make me nostalgic for my year 12 english class; sixth form wasnt bad either :)
...I have just watched "The History Boys" for second time, after a long time... ...such a good film... ...so deep... ...so touching... ...history, as a collection of fucking things... ...isn't that true??? ...and Rufus Wainwright singing this theme... ...never thought I could find it, but here it is...
Apparently this has been around for a while (2008), but I missed it. Rufus Wainwright performs an exquisite rendering of this great song. I also enjoyed this movie The History Boys, a number of times. Thanks for uploading this recording.
it is IMPOSSIBLE(!!!) to find an mp3 of this song! i need to listen to it at least 5 times a day because it is one of the most beautiful renditions of this song i have ever heard.
Fantastic version. I'm so glad I didn't give up on the film before the credits or I may never have heard it. Words could have been written for Rufus or by Rufus Those guys could really write songs.
The full name of this song is "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" and was written by Rodgers and Hart for their musical PAL JOEY. Great rendition by Rufus. Thanks for posting!
you know for the longest time I thought this was a song for homosexual men although I loved it to death ever since I heard it on the closing credits of history boys. Only recently did I realize that Ella Fitzgerald sang it first. Anyways I absolutely adore this version of the song something about the way he sings it like he's out of breath or something like that.
I love you I love you I love you! Do you know how long I've been waiting for someone to post this?!?! I finally got the soundtrack last week but then I couldn't figure out how to put the song up here! Did I mention yet that I love you? :) :) :)
Excellent song - Actually nemzeti9 - thirty years ago men in the U.S. rarely used the word "pants" for men's clothing, "trousers" was the word used by men. One of the few advantages of being older is experiencing how language changes over time.
Haha thanks for the feedback. The Ella Fitzgerald version is good too but wasn't the version I was looking for at the time (I actually just uploaded this to link to my bf originally - and somehow it became my most popular video)
Hey, I love this song so much, but I can't find it to download anywhere at all. Could you find it in your heart to send me the mp3 please? If yes i'll send you a message or something with my email address. xx
June Christy's is still the standout version - check it out. The lyrics are ALWAYS butchered (presumably the censor had something to do with it) Hart originally wrote ...wouldn't sleep/until I could sleep where I shouldn't sleep. And nobody ever sings the great 3rd verse, the one that closes the musical.
+Mounty Mo I think this is only available on The History Boys soundtrack. You should be able to pick up a copy of the soundtrack on amazon or a reputable second hand music retailer of your choice!
am I the only one that thinks this song just doesn't fit his voice? it is also such a shame they didn't have Samuel Barnett sing this song, he just makes it sound more genuine
my boyfriend and i just danced a while to this - just the sweetest moment :)
That's so gay :D
Rufus Wainwright does a lovely rendition of this, and it's perfect for the movie.
His vocal on this is startlingly luscious, Favourite version I've ever heard
Totally agree.
Simply Amazing Rufus! Grazie di esistere!
This is Rufus at his Best...and the interpretation of BEWITCHED...is romantic and haunting as he is...
"worship the trousers that cling to him" "horizontally speaking, he's at his very best"
i know they say uni years are some of the best of your life, but this song will always make me nostalgic for my year 12 english class; sixth form wasnt bad either :)

It's just one fucking thing after another....
No need for the profanity, so just Fuck Off OK...
Love this song and LOVED THE MOVIE!
Some songs have beautiful melodies. Some songs have beautiful lyrics. Some songs have both....
Apparently this has been around for a while (2008), but I missed it. Rufus Wainwright performs an exquisite rendering of this great song. I also enjoyed this movie
The History Boys, a number of times. Thanks for uploading this recording.
i loved this movie so much!! seeing it sung to dakin in the movie just made my heart ache....love rufus' version of this!
Beautiful, sad, sensuous, melancholy, hopeful, weary and a glimmer of ....... jxxx
it is IMPOSSIBLE(!!!) to find an mp3 of this song! i need to listen to it at least 5 times a day because it is one of the most beautiful renditions of this song i have ever heard.
I have been listening to this on repeat for days! my favorite version of the song!
Fantastic version. I'm so glad I didn't give up on the film before the credits or I may never have heard it. Words could have been written for Rufus or by Rufus Those guys could really write songs.
I adore this singer...
This is a beautiful rendition of the Rodgers and Hart song "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" from their musical PAL JOEY>
Thanks for posting!
Rufus is the best of all to sing this song!
Fucking love Frank Sinatra and fucking love Rufus Wainwright. This version is utter perfection.
The full name of this song is "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" and was written by Rodgers and Hart for their musical PAL JOEY.
Great rendition by Rufus. Thanks for posting!
The best this song has ever sounded and I have always loved it! sorry Rod

Only recently did I realize that Ella Fitzgerald sang it first. Anyways I absolutely adore this version of the song something about the way he sings it like he's out of breath or something like that.
I love how this movie used this song as a different take on Pal Joey.
i love this film! and this song!
its wierd, i've actually just finished watching it and then my friend sent me this link out of nowhere
:]
♡ this film ♡
What a beautiful interpretation, thx for posting
How special this is.🌟
Why in hell didn't he sing all the sexy lyrics? Damn!
Same here thank you
cool music!
Why does he sound like Freddie Mercury to me? Fantastic rendition of this beautiful song.
Bee Nadal
You just miss him too much
He reminds me more of Thom Yorke than Freddie
@@claumouz You nailed it! it's Thom Yorke in a crooner mood!
@@lucyfer4420 Ja, ja! I love your definition! It's great!
samuel barnett's was also very tender. rufus has the life experience to distill into it though.
Much as I thoroughly enjoyed this rendition, I don't think anything will topple Frank's version at the top of my books.
Thank you! :DD
also the guy that plays Rudge in this movie was in an episode of Dr.who season 5 just a little tidbit for you people.
💛😔🌿🍏
i love samuel barnett's version even more...(but this is more professional, whatever that means)
I love you I love you I love you! Do you know how long I've been waiting for someone to post this?!?! I finally got the soundtrack last week but then I couldn't figure out how to put the song up here! Did I mention yet that I love you? :) :) :)

is it the Rufus version they use on the final credits of the History Boys film?
grai yes
This is me and my boyfriend's song.
::smile::
Does anyone know the brand of the satchel/school bag Dakin carries in the film? I've been looking for a proper one and like the look and size of his.
Haha thanks for the feedback. The Ella Fitzgerald version is good too but wasn't the version I was looking for at the time (I actually just uploaded this to link to my bf originally - and somehow it became my most popular video)
@nemzeti9 Well Rufus is Canadian, trousers isn't used that often here. Maybe if this was just done for the movie, not sure.
@LordCirque Just uploaded both of them for you!
like :)
Why is this soundtrack not available in the U.K.??????
@JoeCaliforniah CHECK YOUR EARPHONES...
This entire song is about sex....probably the reason I love it so much (and sing the shit out of it whenever I get the chance....just ask my ex......)
Hey, I love this song so much, but I can't find it to download anywhere at all. Could you find it in your heart to send me the mp3 please? If yes i'll send you a message or something with my email address.

child...good job.
I have checked all of Rufus's music , and can not find this on any of his CD's . Was it ever released ??
+Mounty Mo I think this is only available on The History Boys soundtrack. You should be able to pick up a copy of the soundtrack on amazon or a reputable second hand music retailer of your choice!
+Mounty Mo I dont believe it was released under Rufus. It was released under the History Boys Soundtrack and nothing else to my knowledge.
love the piano on this version, as well as the voice obviously... please check out my cover on my channel if you get a chance xx
am I the only one that thinks this song just doesn't fit his voice? it is also such a shame they didn't have Samuel Barnett sing this song, he just makes it sound more genuine
Nice but he can’t hold a candle to Ella’s version.
