do you sand the pen to fix the top of mold on resin? i'm
just started to make resin items made a pen first time but can see top of mold on pen lil frustrating trying to figure out how to stop the resin sinking in

The molds make it pretty impossible to have a clean pour without sharp edges. I use a fingernail file and gently sand the sharp edges. Fair warning, it will scratch the resin. The easiest fix I’ve found for that is using a little UV resin and spreading over any scratches. There are videos that kind of explain sanding resin, but it’s a long and tedious process with mixed results. I’ve also seen videos about using polishing cream, but that’s never worked for me. I hope this helps. Best of luck and remember to enjoy and have fun. 🙂

What pen do you use? seems like everyone never mention what pen to use for this mold.

Hello! Good question. I presume the pen is never mentioned because it comes with the mold. There is a link to the mold in the description. The pens are just ballpoint refills. I hope this helps. Be well.

Hallo where do you buy your big containers of uv resin?

Hi Anne. I got that one from Amazon last year. I hadn’t seen it for a while, but just checked and it’s back in stock. Here’s a link: smile.amazon.com/dp/B08FRFPHJH/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_glt_fabc_YZFJ7HHBP3T0XMGV502P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
      Hope that helps.
      Be well,

What is the trick to get the tip of the pen covered in resin. I really struggle with that. I have tried pushing the resin into the tip. I am using UV resin. I've done prob 12 pens and its hit or miss. Maybe its layers. I've been doing them in one pour.

      Hi Jennifer!
Great question. I typically put the pen insert inside the mold first and make sure it’s sitting properly (e.g., the nib is in the hole in front and the base is aligned with the protruding little piece inside the back of the pen. I then pour the resin towards the front, leaning the mold toward the tip slightly to allow gravity to assist, and use a skewer to push the resin fully in the tip. I will also squeeze the tip to release any possible bubbles and use the skewer again. I repeat this until the resin appears to be fully in the tip and no additional bubbles appear when I squeeze. Next, just continue filling the mold until it is full. I hope this helps and will also say I don’t get it perfect every time, so don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. The skewer and squeezing just help limit the probability of the resin not being over the pen at the tip (nib area). I hope this helps. Be well.

Do you mix your resin or is it already mixed?

Hello! For this particular project I used UV resin, which is pre-mixed and requires a UV light to harden. I hope this helps. Be well.
