- Alasdair Gillies, Lord Todd Recital Challenge 2009
1. Father John Angus Rankin by Jerry Holland
2. Tommy MacDonald of Barguillean by Dr. B. E.Thomson (BOOK: The Pass of Brander)
3. Dickie MacPherson MacDonald by Iain MacPherson
Oh to possess just a fraction of the self confidence and talent of that man. Such a loss in so many respects.
Hi. My father Dr Bruce Thomson (recently deceased) wrote Tommy MacDonald of Barguillean - would really appreciate it if you could include that in the title -these things often get forgotten. Thanks
superb
Yet to hear an MSR that sounds as good as his. Forget strathspey and reel - there is something most beautiful about the way he plays a 2/4. He plays with that heavy left foot yet the tune is rounded?!
Something about Alasdair's confidence, timing and sound that makes him stand out over many others, leaves one clinging on to every note.
RIP
The best pipers go first god bless
