  • In my video I share how making tamales does not have to be laborious and intimidating when you have a houseful of friends and family to lend a hand. I'm hoping my video, recipe, and tips will inspire others to host a tamalada and make tamales at home.

    I love our tamale parties, sometime between thanksgiving and Christmas, there's about 30 of us taking up an entire kitchen and living room. Only a lucky few get to taste test them because we freeze the uncooked tamales and cook them on Christmas Eve, therefore there's always a pot of posole or albondigas that we get to eat. Its a wonderful way to keep tradition alive and honor our grandmother and her recipes that we wouldn't dare change :)

    Thank You for the video. I watch it every year about this time. We love hosting a Tamalada. Need advice. Traditionally we do pork and over the years we have added varieties like Chili and Cheese, Chicken and Salsa, Beef. Keeping them separate and identifiable is our challenge, they all look the same.

      Feel free to have your guests separate and cook in separate steamers, but I think that's the fun thing about a Tamalada. Opening a tamal is like a gift -- ya never know what you're gonna get ;-)

    Thank you Ivette for this wonderful recipe on how to make Tamales. Is there anywhere on page that show the exact measurements you used in your Tamalada video or specifically on how to make the masa? Please help.

    I want to do a Tamalada Party this year for family and friends but need to know how much tamales to send home with people when all finished? Also if making different types of tamales how would you divide up work amongst people?

    • @MuyBuenoCooking
      @MuyBuenoCooking  Před 8 lety

      I usually give everyone attending one dozen tamales. Of course it just depends on how many you plan to make. And I usually give them to guests uncooked in labeled freezer bags. Also be sure to give your guests instructions on how to cook them at home.

    Instead of normal steaming, can you use a Pressure Cooker?

      KublaVeruca I have heard you can, but I do not own a pressure cooker, so have never tried it.
