Dallas Austin opened up to VladTV about working with Boyz II Men after the success of their first album, Cooleyhighharmony, and seeing a big change in their egos. Austin explained that he didn't like working with them in the studio on the second album, and he added that he was fed up with working with them after working on the first song for the project. He went on to share a story about the group being disrespectful to Babyface in the studio, which you can hear more about above.
It was privilege for ANYONE to work with Kenneth Baby face Edmonds in the 90's. He was THE producer for anything R &B back then..

Wow. This story finally explains what really happened to Boyz II Men. After the 3rd album flopped, I couldn't understand how they fell to rock bottom so fast and couldn't get back up. I see now. Nobody in the industry wanted to pick them back up because of how they acted.
So that explains why Boys to Men hits stopped, they thought they could do what Babyface does. Their own productions didn't seem to work out as well.

Nate admitted to this at their live show I just saw them a few weeks ago. He said they passed up on some Number 1's that they regretted and those songs went on to be even bigger than their hits. A lot of their shows are solo. Majority of their shows are sold out. Just cause you are not checking for them doesn’t mean they fell off. A lot of artists do things outside of music. Shawn has a foundation and business with his wife. He also release an EP and is working on his solo album. Nate flips houses and Wanya is working on his music. They are still very much Boyz II Men and very much in demand. They are legendary. I have met them several times and they have been nothing but nice. Sure ppl have bad days and they don’t feel 100% like themselves but assholes are not them. Not after the 1st album. They have admitted their faults and owned up to wrong doings. Nate tells the story of turning down I’ll Make Love to You as well as Amazed which earned another group a Grammy. Don’t go based off what you think you know but based off facts. I have met them, the band, managers, staff and all of them are nice. One experience doesn’t define a person. Dallas Austin. One of the most celebrated, yet underrated albums of all time. Pure genius in my opinion. I actually got a chance to meet him as an intern at Paradise Studios, one of his facilities in Atlanta, in the early 2000s. I’ll never forget it.

For those of y'all that don't know, Dallas Austin was the man 10-grand in terms of beat production in the 1990s. A lot of the CD's I listened to back in the 1990s and a lot of the CD's I still have in my three CD cases have Austin's fingerprints all over them.
My best friend did an internship for Boyz II Men and she said the same thing. She said Mike was the nicest and Nate was the meanest.
Kandi said something similar. That Mike was nice and respectful.
Now i understand why they havent had a hit record since then.
They had 2 hits after that, "A Song For Mama" and "4 Seasons Of Loneliness". Anything beyond that probably wasn't a commercial hit, but they sure put out some classics! ("Doin' Just Fine", "Colour Of Love", "Pass You By", etc)

I agree especially after seeing what they did to TLC. Those women had a diamond-selling album and were only making around $50,000 a year each.
In addition, Pebbles was in on it too. LaFace had some shady business goin on back in the day with TLC and Toni Braxton especially. Not to mention Damian Dame tragically didn't live long enough for their talent to flourish.
Dallas Austin clearly is the sound of modern R&B, progressive hip hop. This dude has mad skills as a multi-instrumentalist, technologist, producer and composer. He is widely known and respected, but Jam and Lewis and Babyface definitely crowded the space and rightfully so. But DARP was and still is so DOPE!

Tim and Bob are dope producers I first heard of them when they produced Bobby Valentino first solo album and the first single "slow down" and "blue Jean's" was the shit that album had some hits .they production style kinda reminds me of LA and face .

That explains a LOT actually. Because I wondered why they worked with big name producers less and less after II, and they started writing and producing their own stuff, which was inferior. This story leads me to think Jheryl Busby kept things together and then it was basically a wrap once they left Motown. They thought they were hot shit and didnt need anybody and the second they were on their own, the hits stopped.
They could sing, but I always preferred Silk's songs.

He's the type when you see him inside the gas station he'll speak to you first. He would talk to you outside, he never acted like he was the shyt, when he really was.
