    The guy in the unfamiliar jersey in Pittsburgh was wearing Sidney Crosby’s junior jersey from before his NHL days.

    its quite common for NBA and NHL teams to share the same arenas. would be fun for you to check out how they transform a basketball court into a frozen hockey rink overnight. its pretty amazing how the arena crew makes it happen.

      They do it in a few hours sometimes. The Lakers will play in the afternoon and the Kings in the evening

      @@timenzenauer9313 yeah, same with Bruins & Celtics. they have it down to 2 1/2 hours.

      @dacrosber Před rokem

      It’s technically how they transform the ice into a court but yeah I understand what you mean. But almost always the ice rink is permanent and they put the court on top of it

    At NHL games, and just hockey games generally, there are no team designated seating sections. The home team and visiting team fans are all intermingled throughout the arena. It's fun to chirp (tease) one another, and most people are good sports about it.

    • @plots4
      @plots4 Před rokem

      The only sport I can think of with designated visitors sections is college football, and it’s usually only a couple hundred seats at most. Depending on the city and rivalry, wearing an opponent’s jersey can make you a serious target. Living in Philly and having been to several away playoff games, I’ve been on both sides of that.

    Most nhl teams in big cities share a stadium with nba teams

  • @HeavenhoundGiuseppe
    @HeavenhoundGiuseppe Před rokem +2

    Generally if a city has both an NBA and NHL team, they will share an arena. Both sports use roughly the same size playing surface so it's obvious to share and save an entire stadium's worth of money.

    The Mighty Ducks movies were made and set in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, otherwise known as the Twin Cities.
    They were Disney movies, therefore when Disney acquired an NHL team, they named them after the movies.

    It common for NHL teams and NBA teams to share an arena. The Los Angeles Laker and Kings share a stadium and they used to be owned by the same person. That’s why the Kings wore purple and yellow jerseys. Since the lakers did too

  • @Canadagraphs
    @Canadagraphs Před rokem

    Kinda laughed on the Vancouver round when you found the Pacific Coliseum. That was the original home of the Canucks. But the team moved to the downtown location in the mid-90s.
    Also, with the compass, a lot of times you cant rely on them on maps like this. The compass is only accurate on OFFICIAL google coverage. So coverage that is by someone that Google hired to take it, will be accurate. But when a random person uploads content to google maps, the compass is rarely lined up properly by the purson uploading it.
    Also, on the Nassau round. That was unfair, because the person that chose the location was off by an entire block. Theres actually a tonne of coverage outside Nassau Coliseum, dont know why they picked a spot down the road from it.

    I also snickered when you completely lost in on the Columbus BLUE Jackets :) Fun fact: that banner that had the name "Nash" with the number 61 on it, represents the fact that their former star player Rick Nash's playing number was retired by the team and can never be worn again.
    I hope you do another one of these. I was disappointed that Calgary didn't make an appearance :)

    "I know the Mighty Ducks from the movie." Same team, different ownership. The new owners had to rebrand to the Ducks,because the original owner of the team, the Walt Disney Corporation, owned the trademark to the Mighty Ducks name and logo at the time, recently the trademark on the logo expired and the Dicks picked it up to become their alternate logo. The team was originally known as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

    The Boston one was very frustrating to watch as you didn't even look at the picture which had "TD Garden" at the top of the scoreboard, on the scoreboard and on the ice around the face-off circle with the big "B" logo. If I could offer you any advice it would be look at the details of the picture even if you think you know what you are looking at.

    Impressive result. I've been enjoying your trip through Hockey and Canada.
    If you really want to learn about Canada and it's love of the best game on earth, you should really watch 'Hockey: A People's History'.
    You'll learn about the hardest trophy to win in all of sport, and the oldest one competed for in North America... The Stanley Cup.
    In Europe, you go to a Stadium to watch a match. In Canada, you head to the Arena to watch the game.
    (and if you're very lucky, it's game 7 of the Cup Final)

    So, marijuana is legal in several states, but it's illegal nationally. However, police in states where it's legal won't bother you, so you have to be doing enough to piss off federal agents, who aren't really enthusiastic about enforcing it either. Airports have security that works for the feds, but the airport security isn't actually police, the most they're authorized to do is turn you over to the state police -- who will then release you. So the airport security actually finally put in a rule that if you're in a state where marijuana is legal they'll just ignore it.
    NYSDOT is probably New York State Department of Transportation -- New York, of all states, has to specify that they're the state and not New York City which probably has its own DoT. The Cosmos are in fact a soccer team, given that the stadium is on Long Island that's probably the New York Islanders.
    We don't have separate seating for home and away fans, which occasionally leads to brawls, but no more than you get just from people being drunk and loud.
    Scotiabank Arena is the current name of what used to be the Air Canada Centre. You're right about teams sometimes being on the outskirts of town -- sometimes they're not even in town. The Detroit Pistons, until recently, played in The Palace of Auburn Hills, which is about 20 miles from downtown detroit.
    Yeah, Anaheim is basically just South Los Angeles -- the Angels, in fact, used to be the Anaheim Angels but are now the Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim.
    Personally I'm a fan of the Chicago Cubs in baseball, and originally the Chicago Bulls in basketball (before there was a team anywhere near me -- now I root for Charlotte but I'm still partial to the Bulls), and I'm also a fan of Hereford FC (aka The Bulls), but I swear it's a coincidence! I suppose you don't like the Boston Celtics, as a Rangers fan... in terms of the SPL I think I root for Aberdeen because I wanted to root for someone who isn't awful but also I didn't want to root for an Old Firm team like every other american who knows the SPL exists.
    That 7-7 game was probably the Penguins-Capitals game on January 17, 2017, which ended 8-7 in overtime -- the home fans were upset as they'd blown a 7-5 lead in the third period but they got the OT win. Hockey games are typically in the same scoring range as baseball, but the outliers tend to not get as high, partly because unlike baseball, hockey is played indoors -- a lot of high-scoring baseball games happen in part because of a strong tailwind helping home runs.
    Columbus are the Blue Jackets; the A you saw, however, looked like the logo of the Colorado Avalanche, so that would've actually been a worse guess!
    Vancouver does have golf courses; there's even one on the outskirts of vancouver where you have to bring your passport because some of the holes are in Canada but the rest are in the US!
    Tampa Bay is the Lightning, I'm guessing Bolts is a nickname.
    I'll be honest, I would enjoy a good meat pie at a game...
    Geoguessr tip: Once you've put down a marker you can keep looking around, if time runs out it'll just take the last place you marked.

      Marijuana is completely legal for adults in a handful of states, and medical marijuana is available with prescription in many others. Here in Pennsylvania, it’s pretty easy to get a medical card as long as you have something off a list of about 20 diagnoses… anxiety being one. As long as we don’t devolve into a Christian ethnostate (entirely possible), it’s only a matter of time until it’s fully legal everywhere.
