Grace Sewell is gonna do what she wants and say what she wants. And she’s def not letting anyone control her. Up until last year she was recording under simply her first name. “I came into the industry young,” she said in an interview with NPR. “I definitely don’t feel like I was fully able to be the most authentic expression of myself. So SAYGRACE to me was really to me a way to take back the control and to direct the narrative myself.” Maybe the best thing about that G Eazy cover was how conveniently foreshadowed her current ethos. Under the revised moniker, SAYGRACE is droppin’ piercing anti-whack-dude anthems and pulling remixes from Becky G. “Boys Ain’t Shit” is already getting tons of love online, and her cover of Kanye’s “Violent Crimes” is a vibe.
