In a full employment and outstanding economy, the Military has ALWAYS found it hard to recruit.
We have had 2 decades of service members being sent all over the world without clear mission goals. This has occurred under both Republican and Democratic presidents and congressional mixes. You can’t blame young people for questioning what, exactly, their sacrifices will be directed toward. We can say “protect and defend the Constitution ….”, but it’s hard to see how 20 years in Afghanistan or Iraq achieved that.
Trump tried to get us out of both wars and the media and the military and intel deep state squealed like slit pigs.

NO new wars under TRUMP. When he sent a mission it was successful and quick. Mission accomplished, NO BOOTS on the ground. FACT NO wonder they cheered him everywhere he went. He HATES WAR. None of these evil countries made a PEEP when he was POTUS they saw he meant what he said and would do what he told them he would.

My dad served.
He pushed me so hard to NEVER do what he did. He missed his children growing up, he was forced to level buildings full of people, he was forgotten about by his government, he was denied help for PTSD and the mass of problems that come with it. He eventually passed away due to the drowning his pain away with vodka.
That's why myself, my brothers, and my children will NEVER serve this nation.

My family fought in every single major conflict since the inception of the U.S.

My dad was drafted into Vietnam. He was a great father and loved his family dearly. It was just understood that us kids (and his grandkids) would never participate in that kind of evil. He spoke plainly of the horrors and those demons haunted him until the day he died.

I served from 1998 to 2016. Horrible experiences for most of that time. Got lucky and did seven deployments. Still dealing with issues from my time in service and probably will for a long time. Both my kids are grown and won’t serve in the scam that is the American military. Looks like kids all over the world are waking up to that.

Our oldest son just retired after 24 yrs in the Army. Tours of Iraq and all over the world. He and we are so glad that he is out of the military. Our younger son did 7 years in the Navy before leaving for college. He too is glad that he is out of the service.

I'm a former Army Aviator. I was in the process of going back in the National Guard until Joey took power. At that point, I found a corporate flying job and gave up on going back. Very glad I did. I'm still not 💉, and I don't have to deal with all of the other trash that I hear is going on from my friends that are still in.

My husband and I are both vets. We did not encourage our sons (22 and 24) to join.
I’m three years out from retirement and likely won’t recommend my sons to join either at this point. Military is supposed to be a war machine well greased and ready. Today’s military is just not the same as it was when I joined and will likely never be as good as it once was.

I come from a generationally serving family with 1 of our family lines dating back serving at the time of our founding. Always told everyone I knew that serving was the right choice.

Most of it was the restrictions and stress that military life creates, but I'm also not willing to get dragged into WWIII, and I have a better paying job already as a civilian.

I retired from the military with over 25 years. I went in during the late 70s, which was a totally different time in America. If I were a young man today, I don’t think I would make the same decision about serving in the military. Too much has changed and not for the better!

All bias aside, the army is the largest branch of the Armed Forces. It will always have the greatest challenge recruiting for that reason. I spent a few years as an army recruiter and I can tell you there was never a shortage of applicants, only a shortage of qualified applicants.

I got out last year and went into Law Enforcement. It was the best decision I ever made and have absolutely no regrets. The Army unfortunately has turned into a social experiment instead of an organization that mentors and trains soldiers. Poor leadership, being forced to live in barracks as an E-5 because I wasn't married, and the drawn-out field problems all contributed. Before getting out a squad leader of mine told me these words, "The Army needs you, you don't need the Army." It truly is a sinking ship!

I tried to join but my criminal history wouldn't allow me. I'm in good physical shape and have standard intellect required for service. I made a mistake and they couldn't look past it. In many ways I look back at it now having regret and sorrow that I couldn't serve, however I would not be the man and father I am today had they allowed me in. God always knows best. ♥️

However I got a waiver for my non violent felony. *As a stupid 18 year old kid I bounced several of my OWN checks to buy beer* stupid yes, however I spent 21 years in and had 6 combat tours. Want to hear the punchline? Now that I am retired, I cannot purchase or own firearms because I am a "felon" typical bureaucratic BS. I was ok to carry a rifle and fight in their wars but too much of a risk to own a firearm as a citizen 32 years after my "felony"
