  • An archaeological expedition in 1985 to Lewis Canyon on the Pecos River, Texas. Crew camped overnight with the helicopter in order to take off at sunrise with photographer/Rock Art Foundation co-founder Jim Zintgraff on the skids for aerial photography of the petroglyphs (the shallow petroglyphs require a steep light angle to show up well, thus sunrise). These photographs were used in the Ancient Texans book by Harry J. Shafer and also are featured in the permanent Ancient Texans exhibit at the Witte Museum of Natural History in San Antonio. On the ground a crew led by the other Rock Art Foundation co-founder, Dr. Solveig Turpin, worked to uncover more of the glyphs. Bobbie McGregor, of the Witte Museum is also present.
