20 years later and Jaromir Jagr is still the best player on his team. That's pretty amazing.

This had to be one of the first N64 games to come out. I remember renting this from Blockbuster. Up there with NFL blitz is one of the best sports games for the N64.
I played this game a lot back in the day. Still better and more fun than most modern Hockey games. A true N64 treasure.

Always on the lookout for FUN sports games. Game shops always have an overabundance of sports games so it shouldn't be hard to find. This game looks awesome.
the nba jam / nfl blitz / 3d hockey era of sports games was the last era of sports games i actually cared about. so good. they don't make 'em like that anymore.
This was one of the N64 games I've rented a lot of times, along with WWF vs NWO and Cruisin USA. In the early life of N64, those were so much fun to play, specially for some couch multiplayer.
And, of course, Goldeneye and Bomberman. But those I still own. Now that you reminded me 'bout Wayne Gretzky's, I've gotta buy it.

EA NHL 94 is my favourite hockey game and I still play it often over 20 years later. Currently have it on a hacked PS Vita so I can play it at work lol

the N64 controller had the best analog stick in history,360 degrees of freedom and multiple speeds,such precise aiming on goldeneye,or that milimetric tightrope walking i could make mario and banjo do.
not like the PS360 controllers that only move in like 16 directions and have 2 speeds,walk and run thats it,cant play any FPS with that crap either,such peasantry.
and oh god the DRIFT! if my 360 sticks are just 1 nanometer offcenter they will start to DRIFT to the sides until i manually recenter them,N64 sticks will NEVER drift,no matter how loose it becomes,the loose part efectively becomes its own deadzone.
the 1 flaw they have is the durability,nothing like playing with a newly opened original N64 pad from nintendo,so tight so precise! but that only lasts a few weeks =(
No mention of the multiplayer? Thats what my friends and i played the most. We pretty much just played to see who could start fights and win them :D

I used to see this game advertised on TV all and sitting out on display at BlockBuster. I think I rented it once and was pretty much bored up until I got to beat the shit out of someone on the other team. It was at least worth it for that alone.

The only thing that sucks about the N64 controller is the joystick. If it doesn't work well anymore just replace it with one of the aftermarket Gamecube sticks!

Pretty much. There was also another NBA Jam on ice game by the same publisher called 2-on-2 Open Ice Challenge. Was released in the arcades and ported to PS1.
