I met Nancy Zeltsman in July and was severely impressed by the beautiful sound she was able to extract using her mallet series. When I got my graduated set I was impressed at the value for money as well as the general build quality of these mallets - they're an extremely good proposition for your first set of solo marimba mallets.

I just ordered them. Hope they will sound amazing on my cheap-ish marimba :D finally a channel that helps with the things.
I love the sound produced from these mallets. Especially the 6 on the low register.
Tyler Gash Definitely still one of my favourite grad setups! The Zeltsman 6 is still one of the best soft mallets I've ever used.
Great stuff! I think it'd be cool if you do more of Encore's stuff.
Thanks for watching! I think I'm going to do more Encore stuff soon :)
Love these mallets for soloing. They're really versatile and you can get a lot of nuanced voicings by graduating. I bought one set of each from the purples (second softest) up through the hardest ones. The hardest light-blue ones I almost never use. I use the seafoam green ones (NZ3B) the most and I'd recommend getting two of them if anything. I guess they changed the range because there used to be a dark brown pair between NZ3B and the pink ones that I love. I still have a pair. Anyway, they're good mallets and they're great for re-wrapping, too. They might not be the best for ensemble playing, though, in my experience.
I agree that they are super versatile for soloing! But yes not articulate enough for ensemble use unfortunately, a bit too warm and it gets lost in the sound...
Hi Adam... could you tell me how long the drumsticks are?
These videos are really great, do you think you could review more vibraphone mallets? I understand you don't play vibes as much but I would love to see your opinion on any vibe mallets!
I'd love to do more vibe mallets, I wish I had a vibes to test them on...
what arrangement of "Heart and Soul" did you play. That was really cool
Ahahaha I made it up on the spot man! Experiment and you can do it too :)
what's the song at 6:01?? It's been in my head for YEARSS and i havent been able to find this song for some reason but the melody haunts me
Love the entire Zeltsman series! So underrated and overshadowed by Vic Firth and Innovative. Totally agree about the weight, but on the flip side, the weight really allows gravity to get the meat of the notes out of the bars. They really are great mallets!
Totally agree - it's a good kind of weightiness and definitely one of Encore's halo products! Really want to try their other stuff :)
Adam Tan The Di Sanzas are really great
Would you recommend these for Prelude No.2?
in my high school, it's about to become the time of the year where we start playing more on the marimba for ensembles, and it's great that i found your channel just recently because i've been needing to get a new set of mallets. which set of 4 in your opinion is a good -and cheap :)- set to build technique, practice, and perform with?
Ohhhh this is such a hard question to ask haha cause everyone is different... I usually recommend two pairs of van sice mono/duos (one pair of 112/122 and one pair of 114/124) to handle all of your needs and durability will last! But if you don't like 50/50 weight mallets you may not like them as much as I do haha
if you don't mind, do you have a link directing to the van sice pairs you are referring to? i don't think i'm looking up the right thing on google ;)
EDIT: i may or may not have read the content in the parentheses wrong oops, hopefully i understand it now and you said to get either 2 pairs of the mono 112/114 or two of the duo 122/124
hey again! last question i promise :) will 112s and 124s work together (i am considering the 124s because the 114s are out of stock everywhere), even though one pair is mono-tonal and the other is duo-tonal? is there anything that can be of concern if i were to use different types of mallets?
Can you play even scale runs with these?
Do you think these would sound alright on Rotation 4 by Eric Sammut? Thank you so much for posting these videos by the way, your insights are super super helpful!!!
Henry Chung Given that Rotation 4 has a lot of bass emphasis I think these would work great 😀 you'd probably have to experiment with the order of mallets but otherwise I think it would work well! Thanks for watching 😀
Gahh you replied! Thanks so much!!
Henry Chung Anytime man thanks for the support 😄
Hey do you know if those work for rotation 2 by Eric Sammut?
They do work pretty well!
Can you review the Vic Firth corpsmasters marimba mallet
Will look into it! Thank you for suggesting :)
Would you say these are good for Prelude No. 1, by Ney Rosauro?
Nik M Hmmm it could do it, I'd probably arrange them in order of 6,4,2,3 though (left to right), or if you had more 3s, maybe 6,4,3,3 😀
I was just wondering, do you think these mallets would sound fitting for Land?
I think they'd be perfect given the warmth!
Cool, thanks Adam!
Currently, Nancy hardly ever uses the medium harder mallet. She actually takes a medium mallet thats been played on for awhile to use as her top mallet because they become harder as the yarn breaks down. Also, the purple bass mallet is a good mallet.
Evan Grover Agreed on the purple mallet. The 7s work to give a really nice sustain in the lower register. They don’t have as much of an attack as the 6’s but they do a good job of filling their own niche in the lower register of the marimba nonetheless.
你的视频对我很有帮助,谢谢你。顺便问一下,你是中国人吗?
潇洁 温 非常感谢!我不是中国人,我是澳洲出生的。😅
Y u no play the harder one up high lol
Ahahaha this was back when I knew very little about grad sets....
I spot a snare drum in the background.
One that I can’t play very well....
are heavy? or 50 - 50?
Santiago Diaz definitely 50/50
jealous by labrinth!!! yaassss
Giovanni Rocha That's the one 😄
I'm sorry but his shoe is untied as 6:27 and it bothers me slightly XD
