A lot of people showed their concerns regarding the 'paid promotion' disclosure at the start of the video, and what exactly the video was promoting. Let me explain the details of the situation.
*3 white wines we recommend from $10 price range are:

-Louis Bouillot Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Millesimé, 2018

-Trimbach Riesling 2020

-Rockbare Riesling, Claire Valley 2020
The production of this video was possible due to a dozen of Korean importers funding and supporting this project. I can't even count the meetings I've had with all the importers, to make this project a thing. So dozens of importers submitted hundreds of wines for the project. And as we've said many times in the video, the judges of those wines, Peter and I, were completely oblivious as to what they were. That was the whole point of this project. Every individual bottle were concealed with paper bags during the tasting, so we couldn't possibly guess what they were beforehand. It was, in my words, a 'perfect blind tasting'. Therefore, importers couldn't just send any wines to promote them as they want. they sent their best wines, and we didn't know anything about it until we tasted them. That's how the whole thing was done. Of course, with dozens of importers, some of them sent a lot of wines and some of them just a few. The deal was like this: importers with a lof of wine selected during tasting would have to provide more supports to the production of our content, and vice-versa. When none of their wines were selected, the importers weren't charged anything. Not even an entry fee. It was completely free. So in summary, each importer had a choice as to participate in this project and how many wines to submit, but nothing else. We did our tasting completely blind, but importers were promised to give supports proportional to the number of wines selected.
That was the behind the scene of all this. So with those 52 wines selected, I can be sure to say we've chosen them without prejudice.
So all the wines selected, I'll be bringing them wherever I go, drinking them with all the wonderful foods around the world. You'll be able to watch that in my channel, since I'll be filming all of it!~

I was fortunate to be tutored by a cardio-vascular surgeon (bless his soul) who had the means to lay away classic French wines. We would vertical-taste all of the first growth Bordeaux's. My all-time favorite that I will never forget was a 1961 Chateau Latour. Even while still being a teenager, it was a tasting experience that I will never forget. I built a corkboard of the corks. I wish I could post a photo here. Recently, I became reacquainted with Rhone wines due to your videos and boredom of recipe winemaking. Thank you !!

Thank you for this video. I picked up two wines based on your recommendation - the Trimbach Riesling and the Los Vascos Chardonnay.
I couldn't find the Simonnet-Febvre Brut, which sounded fantastic, but I did find their basic Chablis (2019) for about $25 and it was delicious and solid for the price.

Another interesting and fun video , thank you Jay & Peter. I've had two Vermentinos recently. The Primo Bianco Vermentino di Sardegna 2019 and the Podere Don Cataldo 2020 from from Salento. The Sardegna Vermentino had more complexity and depth than the Salento one, it was slightly more expensive but worth the few extra dollars/euros. I agree with Peter that Claire/Eden Valley make great Rieslings, but they are very hard to get ahold of here in Taiwan. And they aren't usually 15-20 US$, often much more than that. Riesling trocken from Germany is very difficult to find, most of it is Kabinett or Spatlese. Though you can find dry Riesling at wine trade fairs more easily. I was surprised to read that there is a 70% import tax, plus 10% VAT on wines in Korea,(ouch) that makes your finds even more amazing. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for this degustation. I always find interesting to compare price ranges between you in South Korea and France where I live for example the Mouton Cadet blanc is available in supermarkets for 6-7$ a bottle which way lower than what you pay in SK. But one of the disadvantages (not really) of living in France is that foreign wine are quite hard to find as the market is saturated with French wines you may only find cheap Spanish and Italian wines.

Just a heads up. This video dropped about 11 hours ago. I just checked some prices of the wines rated well here. (Note, a lot of wine shops in Korea don't list prices online, so it's tricky to get a representative sample.) The Rock Bear Clare Valley Riesling is quoted at 75,000 won and reduced to 39,000 won.Trimbach Riesling is quoted at 50,000 won, price reduced to 37,000 won. Prices up 30 and 23 per cent, respectively, above the 30,000 won mentioned here.
The good news is the Louis Bouillot Cremant de Bourgogne Grand Reserve is quoted at 50,000 won but price reduced to 29,000 won, down 3.3 per cent from 30k. This one remains a deal. Grab it before it's gone.

At 70% import tax value + 10% VAT as well as expensively ineffecient distribution and can't order wine online for delivery, we in Korea are not so lucky. Futher, most retailers don't list prices on their websites, so comparison shopping is nearly impossible. If you join a retailer's Naver 'cafe', you have to agree to not publicise their prices.
Korean wine consumers are some of the most abused in the world.
It would be great if someone could disrupt it. Need a few wine superstores with online retail and home delivery.
