It was a surprise to see Askin, but it was great! His fight with Yoruichi has started really well, so we'll see where it goes... - 4.5/5

As for the heart imagery, it's very reminiscent of sacred heart imagery in Roman Catholicism which shows a pierced heart ringed with a crown of thorns (much like Gerard's imagery).
As for the soul king being Quincy, I believe he is still. One would think if the shinigami used the Ise family sword it would sever the powers in to each of the parts that we are hearing about.
That chapter translation was so bad. I remember being confused too before we got a better translation. Askin was awesome, I totally agree with you. Maybe not the strongest but my favorite sternritter too probably.
If he does get up again next chapter and use the lightning against yoruichi then I have a feeling that askin is going to die to ichigo. since Ichigo's powers are supposedly half hollow / half quincy then askin would most likely poison himself by "absorbing" them due to the presence of the hollow power.
Is he the Soul Kings literal heart?
Or perhaps the Soul Kings heart, as in will power, or spirit?
Idunno.
This may just be my imagination, but I think Kubo will try and end Bleach on Chapter 700, just like Naruto. Seeing the pacing of the fights and story progression, it look like it may end at 700. I hope I am wrong because I would love to see Bleach go to at least Chapter 800. Kubo is doing great work and even though Bleach is not doing well in jump as this moment, I think events will turn in his favor.
I liked your review as always. Here is what i think.
1. I believe what Askin meant about Pernida and Gerard is different than what you think. He said Pernida and Gerard were the only Quincy to have unique abilities before they gained a Schrift from Yhwach. Basically, these unique abilities are like Pernida's ability to evolve and regenerate and whatever Gerard's Soul King Heart is. Askin also said Yhwach still gave them a Schrift. So these two Quincy have basic Quincy powers (Schrift, Vollständig, Blut, Hirenkyaku) and they have their abilities they have always had from the Soul King. I believe Pernida is still alive and Gerard will fight his fight.
2. I like that Yoruichi is fighting Askin. She is literally the perfect person in her group to fight him. She is smart and powerful and won't fall for Askin's traps like Grimmjow, Ichigo, Chad, and Orihime did. I also find it interesting Askin knows Bambietta, and like Liltotto, Candice, and Meninas, he doesn't seem to like her. Sense we are close to the end of the year, I believe the last chapter for 2015 will be the reveal of Yoruichi's Shikai.
Thanks I really can't wait. I'm really looking forward to this fight. I also like how Kubo is putting more information about the Soul King. Remember when Mimihagi saved the Soul King? I always found it rather strange how Yhwach asked it why was it saving the Soul King? It's like he was surprised Mimihagi was helping. After the reveal of Pernida and Gerard being part of the Soul King, hopefully my suspensions will be answered.
+shameronstar Ya Gerard does seem more interesting now and I'm glad he is. it makes up for his lack luster Schrift. I actually have a feeling the reason why the Schutzstaffel are surviving their respective fights is because other than being relevant to the story, they will fight someone else. I believe they will fight the returning Royal Guard.
+shameronstar I can understand why alot of people think because Yhwach is the Soul King, he mow has control over the Royal Guard. but I don't believe that. He already made his Schutzstaffel his Royal Guard. and I believe the whole reason the Royal Guard even exist is because their was only one person that almost killed the Soul King, and that was Yhwach. I don't believe they would have ruled out the possibility of losing and being forced to serve him. We haven't seen any of the Divine Generals go all out and the only Schutzstaffel we have seen at full power is Lille.
