Fluoroquinolone Toxicity: A dangerous line of antibiotics that includes cipro and Levaquin

  • Who knew that a commonly prescribed family of antibiotics that includes Cipro and Levaquin can cause tendon rupture, mental health issues, including dissociation, peripheral neuropathy as well as wide spread muscle pain and weakness to the point of paralysis? This line of antibiotics now has several back box warnings on it and the FDA has recommended that it not be prescribed for things like UTIs and stomach bugs when other much safer antibiotics can do the trick. Sadly, many doctors are not aware of these warnings and continue to prescribe them unnecessarily. In this interview, hear how Doug, Heather and I all explain how we had life altering horrible reactions to these antibiotics and how Doug and Heather helped me through the worst time in my life.

    Hi Jane, your videos are helping people, I got bronchitis and went to the doctor. He prescribed leviquin. I asked him why are you giving me this, and told him all the problems with it. He said you need something strong. Bronchitis is viral antibiotics will do nothing I said. I did not take it. Bronchitis is already clearing up naturally.

    It’s not about the magnesium. It is for the symptoms. The cause is your mitochondria, and you can take a hand full of magnesium, and shit your pants every day. It won’t change nothing in the cause. When I started working on my mitochondria, it started to heal.

    One pill of Cipro and yeah Im 3 years out. I walk a lil better but I can't do a lot. I have an exhaustion that hits that I cant push through because when I do try to push through it it leaves me almost unable to move for a long time because of just utter exhaustion. I also have neuropathy and tendon pain and rigidity in achilles especially.
    The problems seem to move around because it affects the mitochondria. Mitochondrial support can help. It doesn't cure it but it helps. CoQ10 and magnesium help me the most.

    I think recovery time depends on how many times you've been given them, how many other flouride containing medicines and anethesia, flouridated water, and yeah it's likely that many people with fibromyalgia, mental health episodes, and probably tons of other diagnosis, are suffering from these. They were given before the now many black box warnings, and continue to be prescribed. Originally used as chemo drugs.

      Not yet, but one is coming out in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I would check all vitamin levels and iron and maybe hormone levels and I would work with a neurologist, rheumatologist and psychiatrist depending on the symptoms. If there are any tendon ruptures, you would obviously need an orthopedist. Vitamin D and Magnesium are generally good to take overall. I would need to know more about the specific symptoms to give more suggestions-but maybe checking out my comments to some other people based on their symptoms could help. And keep an eye out because I will try to get the next video that has lots of advice out ASAP. (it's already recorded, I just have to edit it a bit

      @overcoming-togetherbyjayne3857  Před 4 měsíci

      it should. Almost everyone gets better. I had a bunch of underlying conditions, so my recovery has taken longer and been less than I hoped for. However, almost everyone I have spoken to (and I have spoken to many people who have been harmed by this medication) makes a full recovery. you might want to try magensium and vitamin D and have a doctor test all of your vitamins and iron levels. You may also want to get an MRI. I didnt because I heard that most people with a reaction to this drug dont have things that show up on MRIS. But I finally got one on my left knee and hip all these years later and I did have both a hip labral and a meniscus tear. If I had known that earlier, it could have helped.

    • @overcoming-togetherbyjayne3857
      @overcoming-togetherbyjayne3857  Před 3 měsíci

      they are-its just that a lot people feel like regular doctors dont take these antibiotic reactions seriously so they want to go to doctors who specialize in antibiotic reactions-but those are functional doctors who usually dont take insurance-thats not the route I suggest, i say if your problems are neurological go to a top neurologist, if they are psychological go to a top psychiatrist, I havent found the functional or alternative doctors that helpful-but others disagree. it sometimes is hard to get neurologists and or other specialists to take some of these symptoms seriously, but I say keep trying until you find a neurologist who does. I also feel like neurologists dont tests for diseases like GBS or Myasthenia Gravis unless you completely cant walk or are on a ventilator-so they miss the mild to moderate cases of many of these diseases, ybut I say depending on the symptoms push them to run all of the tests and keep trying different ones until you find one who will listen.

      Most people fully recover! From talking to many people around the world, it looks like a majority completely recover in the 6 month to a year period. Many others recover between 12 and 18 months. For people like me, I havent recovered fully because I had all sorts of underlying conditions. I also dont believe these reactions are all one thing, so for example, if yo have autoimmune disease, these medications can unmask them and you probably wont get better until those conditions are treated. But if it is just a general reaction, from my experience, I believe most people fully recover.

I been wanting to get on here awhile now and make videos spreading awareness however my symptoms really bust me up and make it hard sometimes .
      As of tests I've been to a Neurologist , cardiologist and Vein specialist . My neurologist did an MRI & MRA of my brain , and MRI of my neck and an MRI of my lower back . All came back clear . They only found mild stenosis in my lower back which he assured me 110% that my symptoms are not coming from the stenosis . He's also done an EMG which came back good as well .
      My cardiologist has did two echocardiograms on me , one regular and one where I run on the treadmill and then back to the table where they put the ultrasound on my heart and around the surrounding arteries . Also a ultrasound leg Doppler and a cartoid artery doppler . All of those came back normal .
      My vein specialist did a ultrasound leg Doppler of my leg veins and all came back normal . No one can explain to me what's going on with my legs . I covered every test I can . I asked my neurologist about a lumbar puncture and he said it's not necessary that if there were any sort of abnormalities it would show in my MRIs.
      Nothing found but here I am 9 months later still with heavy and numb legs that feel like they're walking in heavy mud daily . My arms getting the feeling from time to time as well . So many times I thought I had a stroke or was having one. I can't even count how many times I've been to the hospital since this all happened .
      I've started working with a doctor who supposedly specializes in Flouroquinolone toxicity out of Florida yet did no type of testing on me and just sold me supplements . Started taking the supplements and all and behold I was prescribed way too much magnesium that I started experiencing Hypermagnesia where my limbs were literally going paralyzed and my breathing was becoming extremely shallow . Anything over 2.1 is considered magnesium toxicity . I was at a 2.6 after all that magnesium . Since stopped the magnesium all of that has went away but I am still stuck with my symptoms mentioned earlier . So I really don't know if these so called Flouroquinolone experts can be trusted or are they just out for money .

      Again so sorry you are going through this. I know how awful it is because I have been there. I had exact same symptoms. I dont believe it is true that MRI would have shown GBS. Only a lumbar puncture would have. But whether it is GBS or FQ Toxicity or those are one in the same, you will get better in time and it gets easier. For now, you may want to monitor all of your vitamins and hormones (iron, testosterone, vitamin D etc) because whatever "this" is, it's more difficult to get better if those things are out out of range. Everyone promised me I would get better and I didnt believe them. But I did. I took longer than most, but I did get a little better each year . You will get better too and hopefully it will be quicker than my recovery was.

      @@Myworldmymind908 I was 47 when I took four pills of Levaquin. I am now 50. I think getting your testosterone and vitamin levels normalized along with time and trying to do some movement, for however short of a period you can make it, will get you better. But it will take time!

    Does fluroquinolone toxicity cause auto immune diseases in some? Does anyone know why some people are affected and some people are not affected?

      sorry I'm just seeing this now-yes I think that these antibiotics can unmask underlying autoimmune issues and or cause new ones. Along with tendon tears, I think I developed at least two new autoimmune diseases. I'm genetically predisposed to autoimmune diseases and because of it, the Levaquin led to more of them. I think getting a basic autoimmune panel done is generally a good idea

      Thank you for the reply. I have autoimmunity in my CNS per spinal tap results. I have documented small fiber neuropathy as well. I am hopefully starting IVIG if my insurance approves. I was a 100% healthy, extremely active, extremely fit individual before taking this poison for a sinus infection....I had no idea. I have major muscle loss and atrophy and horrible insomnia. I already had 500 million stem cells via IV in Mexico last month. The stem cell clinic doctor looked at my legs and said 'cipro legs'. I am going to do whatever I can do to heal. I am learning everything that I can learn about medication injuries....SSRI, benzo, antibiotic, finasteride, accutane, lyme disease, covid vaccine, and long covid. There seems to be tens of millions of people injured. It is interesting that all of these seem to have overlapping features and symptoms. Brain/neurological damage. I do think that healing is possible. I have totally lost faith in U.S. institutions. Citizens have been poisoned for decades. No wonder this country is completely breaking down....many, many Americans have been poisoned.

      every video is different-and there are different solutions depending on the symptoms/person. Some people get better in time. Some people get better with vitamin supplementation like magnesium. I usually recommend that people have a doctor check their iron and vitamin levels. In some cases, it would be good to have an autoimmune disease panel checked. In others MRIs could be helpful. And still others may need to see a psychiatrist for the psychological problems these antibiotics can cuase. But others get better in time. There is unfortunately, no one size fits all solution

      Everyone handles things differently. Doug didnt feel that suing would help his recovery and preferred to focus on healing. Also as I have sadly found out, you can't even sue if you wanted to if you took the generic as I did.

      Agreed! Hopefully your aches and pains wont last long. I have heard about many people who feel better in a couple of months or even weeks. It could be a good idea to check vitamin levels, iron and hormones. Magnesium could help a little too. Sending positive thoughts that you get back to normal soon

      I'm so sorry you are gointg through this! How long ago did you take it? For some people it just takes a couple of weeks to months of resting and then they get better. Others take longer, but almost everyone eventuallly gets significantly better. Perhaps it could help to get all of your vitamin, iron and hormone levels tested. Regardless of the results vitamin D and Magnesium could help. Depending on your symptoms, you could have unmasked an autoimmune disease, so it might be good to see a rheumatololgist to run some antibody tests for autoimmune disease. If you are having trouble walking or feel muscle weakness, it could be good to go to a neuorlogist to get tested for myasthenia gravis and Guilliane Barre. They wont want to test you for that unless you are in a wheelchair, but if your eyes, neck, arms legs feel week insist on those blood tests. You could have a peripheral neuropathy in which case a neurologist could help and if you are struggling with insomnia or anxiety etc a psyhiatrist could help. Regardless, it could be good to speak with a therapist to help you get through this time. I wyouould try to focus on the symptoms and less on telling the doctor you were floxed. You could tell them the symtpoms started X days after the medication, but leave it at that and then focus on your symptoms. Sending prayers that you are one of the people who get better quickly.!
