I can't stand people that shop at these stores, other than myself of course. So many just treat the products as testers, sticking their dirty fingers in the shadows, lipsticks, using the glosses even!!! So gross. The other day, I went to buy a Mac Stack mascara, and thankfully I checked it because someone put a cheap one in the box and must have put the Mac in the cheap one's box. I'd actually be surprised if they make any profit off of the cosmetics. I was talking to one of the employees and she told me that they are not allowed to tell someone to not touch the makeup itself if they see them putting their fingers in it. They have to let them do it!!! That is garbage.

Definitely. It’s so gross to spend money to try something then realizing someone thought it was necessary to put their nasty fingers into the product. It is happening at nice stores just as much as discount, drug & department stores. I do appreciate my TJ Maxx doing a great job shrink wrapping and putting items in cases to protect the integrity. Mine seems to be the exception though. My Walmart and CVS however seem to be the place where squirrels get ready for a rave. That stuff is chewed up, spit out and super nasty.
My Marshall’s is so gross. I wish they would do what Ross does and put everything in containers. They must lose so much money.
Same deal here in Australia with TJ Maxx. People using products and the boxes are filthy. Fingers in eyeshadow palettes, product seals opened and used etc. You do have to take them out the boxes and check them because they have a no return policy on makeup. That said I’ve found a really good bargain there from time to time.
You think they'd put them behind glass and just leave the sample one out. I know in Target and Kmart, there's more stolen than sold!!!

Thank you for keeping it real about financial struggles in your early years and how sometimes the cheaper options are actually the only options. I find it very humbling to remind myself of where I was and develop more gratefulness for where I am now, though I'm not a careless-wealthy person but progress must be recognized and appreciated. Wishing more people remember the difficult times in their lives to stay humble and empathetic towards those currently struggling!

Recently found a Pat McGrath palette (4 shadow one, and the only one) with no price, brought it up, and they gave it to me for 6.99!!! 😮 I felt like I’d won the lottery!!!
I don’t spend much on makeup but those Shiseido cotton pads are sooo nice. I stock up whenever I see them.
In regards to Colour Analysis, if you were typed as a Soft Summer, that palette of colours is what will be your absolute BEST - However, feel free to wear all the colours of summer and there is also a thing called “sister seasons” - example -
I am a Spring but can borrow from Fall without looking like death warmed over 😂 as both seasons are warm in nature - I just avoid the colours that are too dull or washed out, because Springs look best in bright, saturated hues.
It’s cool to know what looks the MOST flattering but don’t put yourself in an absolute box of “I can only wear Soft Summer”. I would just use it as a guide to avoid colours that won’t flatter at all. For me, the absolute worst colour on me is a light, grey based purple.
I think hair color also can make a big change in what colors work best. I've been a red head for over a decade and I can wear saturated yellows and oranges that I never could pull off with my "real" hair color.
That purple-grey is a color I can only call "Bruise." I've bought whole eyeshadow palettes just to get that color, and I'm always so disappointed!

@@kharris2204 there are some free quizzes on 30somethingurbangirl and Cardigan Empire that would be a great starting point. If you know your undertones (warm, neutral, or cool), then you’ll find the quizzes super easy. Even if you googled “free colour analysis quiz” there might be even more options now. These are tests I was aware of a couple years ago, so there might be more available now on different websites.

I live within 5 miles of 10 TJMaxx/Marshalls stores. While I embrace the randomness of their selections, and I do love the thrill of the hunt, many of these stores are locking their higher-value items in large display cases, and at this time of year, getting a store clerk to open the case and let you really look at something up close is nearly impossible. Putting the items in individual locking cases isn't the answer either, unless you remember to have the cashier let you look at the item inside before you pay. I've seen customers (and their bratty kids) shake the plastic boxes so hard that the items shatter inside their cases. There are no easy answers, but it helps to know how to sanitize questionable items when you get them home. Love the video Tati!
I have that Jaclyn palette and use it every day, the exact colors you showed! Be careful of using the darkest one on the lower eye, just a bit of fallout. The COSRX I do slather everywhere! It lasts forever. Merry Christmas Tati and James. 🥰

My very first eyeshadow palette was Laura Geller's Nude Attitude and I immediately fell in love with the brand! I bought it at Marshall's and now I have three additional eyeshadow palettes from Laura Geller and all of them I got them at Marshall's. It is not very often that they have her makeup when they do, I immediately grab it. I'm so glad to see someone giving her brand some love, it's so underrated in the youtube beauty community. Love your videos and might go to Marshall's see what they have.
Check Ross there are always Laura geller palettes there. Bonus is they are in keepers so can’t be touched

I like these kinds of videos. Great reminder to everyone that no matter what your budget is, quality can be found. Also, shopping at places like marshall's, tj maxx, etc can be a great way to try out a brand before shelling out money for full price.
Tati, you in chocolate brown hair just *chef's kiss*. The deep brown highlights your blue eyes to the ninth degree... Please, you don't have to lighten your hair, you are gorgeous in deep brown.
I think you look beautiful in the winter color scheme too like The Cranberries the blacks the whites the Reds look beautiful on you. And I'm sure the soft summer is well I think you can carry a lot of colors because of your skin tone

I have gotten some luxury brand makeup and skincare steals at those discounted stores. If you buy from them you must check to see if the product is in the box. I have seen empty boxes on the shelf. And you have to buy with confidence. If you open makeup they don’t take returns if you change your mind. Also you have to view the product if unsealed to see if people swatched it! Thanks for your content.

I saw this same PM pallet at my local Marshalls. I also saw a mini Star Wars 4 pan pallet along with lipsticks & blushes. Each store is hit & miss. You gotta br careful as SO MUCH was already opened & swatched.
I am a recent convert to those cotton pads & I cannot go back.

Always check the makeup before purchasing to make sure it hasn’t been tampered with. And know your brands and prices. Good indie brands end up at Marshall’s, Ross, the Maxx, etc.

Heartwarming to hear that you and James are in a similar situation to me and my fiance! We moved to a small mountain town outside of LA, and when we go down into town we make a whole day event. Hi Tati, I'm a relatively new viewer to your channel, I had seen some of your videos in the past when searching for specific products being reviewed. But this year I have really got into watching your videos, I was diagnosed with Breast cancer back in March of this year, only aged 35 and i've been through a lot of gruelling chemotherapy and your videos have become my comfort videos to watch during the hours im sat in the dreaded Chemo chair hooked up to an IV with nothing else to do lol. My favourite comfort videos of yours are your Marshalls/TJ Maxx/ Dollar tree store make up and skin care videos and I don't even have those stores here because I live in the UK! But they're such a comfort to me that I can't stop watching them. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you so much for being my Chemo comfort lol, I'm so glad I re-discovered your channel and I always look forward to the notifications if your videos popping up. Your hair looks fabulous, I can't wait for mine to grow back, your hair is definitely my goals! xx ❤

i have the bruna tavares pore filling primer. i like it, its not agressive, more of a liquid balmy consistancy . i feel like thats a great option for people who either have the peeling problem or just want a one stop primer for special occasions.
I too found a Pat McGrath palette that I had been really interested in at Marshalls. Actually, there were three. And I looked at each one to figure out which one I wanted most. I was glad I did - because two of them had clearly been damaged or tampered with. I got one that was perfect though and am very pleased that I got it more than half off the original price.

Also if you want to try something better than primer for your pores,try either a good quality essence or serum.
Theres so many serums that are actually made to minimize large pores like dermellect in the red bottle for example.
Try to focus more on skincare than makeup application to make your skin look smooth.

Been using the tarte pore primer for years and less is definitely more! You also have to really make sure it’s pressed into the skin before applying anything else on top.

My town has a TKMaxx (same as TJMaxx) and there's always so much good stuff in there, not just make up but clothing, homeware, the whole works. The make up in store can be hit or miss, especially if it's due to be restocked (people sure love making a mess lol) but now you can actually buy stuff from them online so you don't have to worry about whether or not it's had grubby fingers in it!
I too have not been in a Marshall’s in at least a decade. Popped in after my nail appointment because of your video! Sadly, no Pat McGrath, but I did score the Jaclyn Hill palette, the only Shiseido cotton, and a Makeup Revolution palette plus Japonesque brushes. Thanks for the suggestion!
