Mildly strange but not a big deal. For one, FB has a tag approval feature that allows you to control what you can be tagged in. For two, while dating in a public setting, you can be seen by that same population (possible, but unlikely). The online space is a bit larger, but public is public. The right thing to do is ask first.
As soon as my wife and I began dating, she shared her location with me for safety reasons. It showed a level of transparency that I appreciated and followed suit.
