idk if it makes sense but what happened was: giyuu was born as miu iruma and he was obsessed with tech and gadgets. after a while he was given the title “ultimate inventor”. then he went to hopes peak academy as miu still. there was no killing game and he graduated. when he returned home at age 17 (au) he saw his sister get murdered by the demons (his parents died due to illness when he was a toddler). after that he let go of being an inventor and swore to become a demon slayer, so he ran away. he met urukodaki and sabito. (makomo was already dead) he trained as canon giyuu did and a few weeks before final selection he cane out as trans and urukodaki got him binders and hair stuff as well as male clothes. during final selection sabito died and on giyuus first mission he meets tanjiro. giyuu was 18 when he met him in this au. hope this helps and as far as i know it makes sense! :)
