The "Terran" in "Terran Alliance" refers to the planet Earth, which in Latin is called Terra.
Was waiting for this comment
In fiction it is also sometimes called terra & even I call it terra after terra mater which is the Roman goddess of the earth as it fits the roman deity names of the planets

i saw this before getting to that part and i thought it was sincere and i was wondering how i was gonna get blown away, then i saw it and realized you where being sarcastic. Great job, you've gained my like good sir.
I've never been this angry in my life.
5:21 Jack… Terran alliance represents the Earth as Terran usually means like aliens in movies referring to Earth or its people
"Terran" is a possessive or "Place Off" for "Terra".
"Terra" is Latin for land or territory. It can also be construed to mean "Earth" as "Earth can also mean, land, territory, dirt... and so on. "Terra" is also where we get "terrain" and "terrace" from.
treea is stn :) "nah jk i just saw yellow as terra in my school so i think its the sun?}

3:30 -- Coincidentally I actually researched this a while ago, and 5-8 world flags have their own name on them! (It depends)
- The Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Paraguay all have their names in their coat of arms which is in their flags. 🇩🇴 🇪🇬 🇸🇻 🇳🇮 🇵🇾
- Bolivia and Costa Rica have versions with their coat of arms and versions without, and depending on which one you use they have text. 🇧🇴 🇨🇷
- The *Islamic Republic* of Afghanistan had its name on the flag, but _you know._ 🇦🇫
- Six of these are in Spanish, and the other two are in Arabic.
… Eugh
Oh! And Venezuela. The coat of arms has "Venezuela" written in it, but it is very small
What about El Salvador and Nicaragua, the only way I can tell them apart😂
there's guam too i think
What
So does mayotte 🇾🇹
8:00 those men definitely require an enhance, jack
I love the flag/map vidoes. You’ve helped me learn all the flags of Europe, nortg and South America and Asia. Please do more :)
10:12
Aww, this is the worst, tha- *GET OFF ME!!!*
(3:30) I think you could remove all the items on that flag and have a tri-band-flag. The items can be included in a logo or banner, but removed from the flag. Alternatively redesign some of those elements for the flag.
But it's really not a terrible flag anyway. Really depends on what the old flag looked like, if it's better.
3:30 Yes, there are, Jack!. I can think of the flags of Nicaragua and El Salvador. (The names are written in their languages, which I think is Spanish along their coat of arms) There are definitely more than two, but I can't think of more.
@@ohioman11 Ohh, of course! Thanks for letting me know!
Paraguay does
Brunei does too, its written in arabic so it might not be as obvious

3:39 Nicaragua, El Salvador, Paraguay, and Bolivia were the ones I could think about. I also saw some versions of Colombia's flag that have like a coat of arms with the name on it but I don't know if they're official or whatever so yeah :)
theres guam too and some other i cant remember
Dominican republic
Love it when you and Drew Durnil put out the exact same video

I thought I was the only one who has seen that 😂

regarding the folding flags thing:
I was always taught to fold the aus flag a specific way, first is lengthways (hotdog) so the union jack is facing up (bottom side to top side), then lengthways (hotdot) again so the union jack is folded in on itself (bottom to top again) (when we teach children how to do it, we say "putting jack to bed"), then the outside edge is zig-zag folded (up then down, like a paper fan) 7 times until it reaches the end of the union jack (this takes practice to get the fold sizes right), it is then rolled tightly until the halyard end. The outermost piece of fabric is folded down into a triangle so the strop is in the middle of the roll, then the strop is wound all the way around and tucked up in a loop to hold in place. this should result in the toggle being at the top (so the flag is hoisted right-side up) and it is secure but still easy to break.
if a flag is attached to the pole (like the display flags in diplomatic meetings) then one person holds the outside tightly while another rolls the flag from the pole (making sure it's rolling straight and not creasing) then when the union jack has been rolled, the top corner is folded down to make the remainder of the flag make a triangle. the person continues rolling until the very end. if the flag has a sheath then you put the sheath on but if not the point of the triangle can be gently tucked into the roll to hold it in place.
Flags have their own folding procedures for different reasons! some things are symbolic/ceremonial (the aus flag is folded zig-zag to represent the seven states and territories), it's also to make sure the flag is treated respectfully and will last longer (if you just scrunch it up and bung it in a cupboard it might crease, rip, fray, etc) and it means the flag is always folded the same way! so if I go to a different office than I'm used to and am asked to fold the flag with someone I don't know, as long as we both know the proper procedure we can do it without even talking to each other
I love this series jack please continue it
5:46 The gradient looks like someone horribly blurred the aromantic flag. Gradients on flags are a no from me
lol that's what i thought too
Pff yeah it does. Why do they do my flag like thisss

I just commented this before I saw yours. I'm with Jack, that one Korea design was a tastefully executed gradient, but other than that, no blending

does anyone else see the panama flag there?
So happy jack looked at the new Utah flag! I’m from Utah and was hoping he would see it in either one of the flag videos or Reddit videos, Happy Easter Jack!
3:39 El Salvador and Nicaragua.
8:23 Agreed! Ever seen the EU with PRC flags together.
The official way to fold the Finnish flag is pretty neat. It's not quite as complex as some of the others, but in the end you only have the blue visible when you're done
How can you not heard of Budweiser??
Can you do a video about East African Federation, it's benefits and issues??? Btw. your videos are the best!

3:38 off the top of my head, Nicaragua and Paraguay both do on the emblems. There are probably more but these are the only two I can think of right now.
this man never fails to impress me. congratulations jack on finding another word for this series.
Imagine a day when Jack won't find adjectives for the titles of these kinds of videos
In elementary school, we all rotated through being on "flag duty" and responsible for properly raising the flag in the morning and taking it down after school to return to the main office. (American flag isn't supposed to be up overnight unless you have a spotlight on it.) It's the same as folding a paper football but taken very seriously. One week some kids were fooling about and letting it touch the ground at the same time a military parent pulled up to pick up their kid and I still remember the fallout of that event like 15 years later 🥴
a girl i knew when we were both 10/11 was on morning flag duty with me. we were both part of a group of fifth graders that helped teachers before school started or after it ended. the office ladies always asked for us specifically even though they couldn't really do that but the coaches still let them. our school had their own flag so when we went outside we would lay the school flag down, put the texas flag on the school flag, put the american flag up, put the texas flag up, then put the school flag up. other kids laid it down on the grass or concrete. they always got in trouble for that
Just looked up the US Flag Code, found something funny...
Code § 8 - Respect for flag
"The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever."
AND
"It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard."
I guess no-one actually reads the flag code :D
Love your content, keep it up
There is a meaning behind how the is US flag is folded and how it looks. There are 13 folds to make the triangle which represents the 13 original colonies. The triangle is also shaped like the tri-cornered hat. The flag is usually folded that way as tribute. It's cool seeing it folded in person.
0:03 there is also nothing in the constitution saying how to arrange the stars. There just has to be 50.
5:55 I am from Arizona, but I’ve never heard of Thatcher so I don’t think I have the authority to tell them to change their flag.
7:15 the benelux is an awesome collaboration and i was surprised he hadnt heard of it

El Salvador (republica de el salvador)
Dominican Rep. (republica dominicana)
Venezuela (republica bolivariana de venezuela, state flag)
Bolivia (state flag)
Paraguay (republica del paraguay)

Afghanistan before the Taliban took over (On the emblem written in Dari)
0:05 the flag code also does not specify how thick the flags should be, where the blue union should be, where the stars should be, how big both the union and stars should be, how many points the stars should have, and more.
Hi Jack, I am not complaining about your skills this time
BUT LEARN THE CAPITALS OF THE WORLD
I'm pretty sure the beehive on the new Utah flag is actually a reference to the Book of Mormon. In the book, it uses a word called "DESERET" which means Honeybee. In fact, Utah was originally going to be called Deseret.
Yes, I think that's correct. The Mormon Pioneers were responsible for Utah being settled and wanted it to be called "Deseret" or honey bee because of that reference in the Book of Mormon.
@@susannahnielson6418 Deseret sounds cooler than Utah
Benelux is the countries of belguim (Be), netherlands (Ne) and luxemburg (Lux) its in the name and it hurt to be mistaken as france as someone from the netherlands, glad he educated himself after the painful mistake tho
