    I shoot with Fuji for 3 years and just got S5 + Lumix S 85mm f/1.8 . And the ease of life during photoshoot is amazing! The AF is more reliable and accurate! Colors and the image DR is crazy. I’m not planning to sell all my Fuji gear as I used it for my everyday life, but for working purposes Lumix S5 is a no brainer.

    I shoot with a gh6 and an s5 all kind of productions. When i want better low light and shallower dof i go full frame with those primes (18-35-85 kit). This combination works great. Downside is when i can't carry two cameras (1 bag only with camera gimbal mics and drone/fpv..) i have to make a hard choice :-)

    I use the 18, 50 and 85 on my Leica SL2 and SL2-S. Although not as stellar as the Leica APO-SL lenses, they’re certainly great for both video and stills esp. when size and weight is a factor. I was very hard pressed to see any difference in IQ with their Leica siblings (the new Summicron-SLs). Of course the Leicas are much more premium built, but at 1/5th of the price, I don’t mind using lenses with Thermal Stable Composite (not just ‘plastic’) tubes.

    • @hotcamp5363
      @hotcamp5363 Před 3 měsíci

      What’s the difference you noticed in the switch. Which has the plastic tube. I have the 18 35 and 85 and I think they have a 95% plastic housing

    • @jacobh5817
      @jacobh5817 Před 2 měsíci

      @@hotcamp5363 indeed the Lumix S lenses are all ‘plastic’ (or TSC) on the outside but are told to have some metal barrels inside too. The Summicron-SL are all-metal and have a much more ‘premium’ feel. The Leicas are 100gr heavier. They’re also build with narrower tolerances and have different coatings on the lenses. However, optically they’re very similar and hard to tell apart. I wouldn’t mind using the Lumix versions if I’d only care about IQ and price. The APO-Summicron-SLs are an entirely different beast. These are amongst the best lenses ever build. Regardless of the mount. I’m using the 28mm and the 90mm and they’re epic in terms of build, image quality and…costs. However, they’re also quite large and heavy (700+ gr).

    Looking for a 20mm Fixed lens for the S5iiX. Any great ones for skin tones? 24mm is just a touch to long for my needs. 20-22mm would be perfect. I was thinking of getting an 18mm but I think it distord and widen people to much?

    • @hotcamp5363
      @hotcamp5363 Před 3 měsíci +2

      The do you have the 18 mm or something because I do and haven’t notice any distortion. I think it’s my most Over powering lens out the bunch especially for land scape and artistic stuff. Really for anything

    Thanks Caleb! The 24-105 prime is by far my favourite lens for the S1. But if I was to go with a prime it would the 50 1.8 or 35 1.8. I have the 85 but use it on much rarer occasions

    I have a 20-60mm kit lens and I'm thinking of selling it and adding some money on it and buying a sigma 28-70mm. Unfortunately, since I have a budget problem, if I buy a prime lens, I have to buy only 35 or only 50mm, but I don't want to stay with a single prime lens. What is your advice?

    • @CalebHoover
      @CalebHoover  Před rokem +2

      I would get as much use out of that 20-60mm as possible. Then maybe save up for the 50mm to start.

    • @EfekanOrtanci
      @EfekanOrtanci Před rokem +2

      @@CalebHoover I am dealing with filmmaking, so it seems that a single prime lens option will put me in a difficult situation for now, and the reason why I want 28-70mm is that it has a 2.8 aperture because 20-60mm is very weak in night shots.

    • @gogunow
      @gogunow Před rokem

      @@EfekanOrtanci my guy you ALWAYS want to have some sort of 24-70 2.8 FIRST on your kit. Get some universal lens with wide enough aperture is crucial for good image and whole workflow. So you need this as soon as possible. For that reason any manifacture always have that lens and also that's probably their most sold unit. If you are on budget kit lens is your good friend and maybe some cheap manual 50mm 1.8 in addition.

    • @MJ-1981
      @MJ-1981 Před 7 měsíci

      24-70mm 2.8 is a great do it all option. It's' the first lens I bought after the kit lens and pretty much never comes off my S5ii unless I'm shooting lowlight in which case I use the 35mm 1.8.
