Stingley is great in coverage and has really good ball skills. What separates him from average corners is his ability to sit on routes. He doesn’t show any type of leverage he plays strait up and waits for the reciever to declare his move. His ability to stay in phase and change of direction is elite. Only gripe I have in his game is physicality tackling and pressing at the line. When he stops giving free releases he’ll be a true demon😈

Yes, Stingley had an outstanding year, one of the best in College Football for corners, but I'm not going to claim that he's going to be better than Revis already based off only his freshman year, only time will tell and no one can predict how he'll be once he gets to the league.
Nick Lemoine I think Stingley has pretty similar skillsets better compared to Revis than Ramsey, Ramsey in my opinion, shows more physicality that imposes more than both Stingley and Revis in coverage and other aspects like tackling too, which is why I didn't resemble Stingley with Ramsey, even though Stingley and Revis aren't afraid to put a lick on ball carriers too, and on top of how these players carry themselves in the upper echleon of the game(college/NFL). Ramsey oozes with confidence and a lot of talking that he backs up, while Stingley and Revis(aside from the beef with Sherman) aren't notable for talking and just get the job done within the business of the game.
Something Stingley can do that Surtain II can’t is sit on routes. If Stingley is wrong, he has enough speed and length to recover. Surtain II doesn’t have that make up speed.
Just need to add some weight improve tackling and sometimes gets beat by quicker receivers but has great recovery speed and it seems like in zone coverage he gives up yards
I’m sticking to corners for now. LBs you’d be better off watching all 22s, and WRs.. I can get a good feel for them off highlights alone. Maybe that’s just me, as a former WR🤣

Learn the right way to play CB, man coverage techniques, zone coverage techniques, what to do in cover 1, responsibilities in cover 2, how to read cover 3. Also realize, that the best athletes on the field are the best form runners, look at Devonta Smith (Alabama). Perfect running form with _long strides._ Derek Stingley is the same. _Long strides._ That means you cover more ground, or go farther, with each individual step. Combine long strides that quickly hit the ground, you get Tyreek Hill. Learn that. Combine it with the techniques to play coverage. You’ll be D1, I promise. Also, in one short video, watch Brett Kollmann’s Amari Cooper vs Jalen Collins video, for great technique advice.

Devonta Smith beat Derek Stingley like a used drum all night. Pitts handled him too. Two great players, no doubt, but Stingley is not this perfect prospect people want to make him out to be, even in his 2019 film, which is by far the best season he’s shown so far. Amazing athlete, silky smooth hips, great balls skills, but beatable, especially on in-breaking routes.
he’s the perfect prospect because in that 2019 film, he was 17/18 meaning he has tremendous room to grow. it’s like scouting a QB that has a high ceiling, it’s the same with Stingley, he has a high ceiling but he also has a high floor as well
No player is perfect not even Brady or former great corners like Revis...if he can shut down opposing elite receivers 60% of the time that's great and will always put his team in position to win. this kid is still a baby in terms of playing the corner position

But I also look at a guy who hasn’t played much in two years due to various ailments; who’s dealt with foot problems in particular (which would scare the crap out of me if I’m a GM and I’m set on drafting corner); who has shown a tendency on film to shy away from contact (that tackling effort in that play along the sideline against UCLA was beyond pathetic, to name one instance); and whose personality says “nice kid” to me more than “dog” (in contrast, there’s no question about that dog mentality with Sauce). Talented player. Lots of questions. Needs to get better on in-breaking routes. Needs to be more consistently physical in tackling. Needs to show he can stay healthy and be available. Needs to show that he has that dog in him the way a Ramsey or a Sauce does. To me it’s too many questions for a top 5 pick. In the 20s, sure I’ll take a shot on the talent. At 3?
