Why iPad Air is Better than iPad Pro 2024? In this video I do a review of the new iPad Air M2 running on the latest version of iOS 18. Why I think it is better value for money than the iPad Pro M4 and how they compare in price? We discuss design and accessories such as the Magic Keyboard and Pencil Pro. Let's compare the design, display, features and cameras. Watch the video to see if it makes sense to overpay $400 for the same features?

I see iPads like I see TVs. There's a 65" TV that you can buy for $350, and there are 65" TVs that are at least $2,000. It's the same size, you can watch the same shows. It does NOTHING that the $350 one can't do. However, the difference in picture quality is GIGANTIC. Using a 60 Hz display for long periods gives me a headache. It's blurry, laggy, and not bright enough even indoors. I would pay whatever difference to have a higher quality display. If the iPad Air had a 120 Hz display with the same brightness and everything else that the Pro offers, I'd buy it. The difference between M2 and M4 doesn't really make much difference due to iPadOS limitations. But the screen quality alone justifies the price differences. My 27" computer monitor cost $1,000. Would I buy a $250 one that can show the same thing as my $1,000 one? No! I need a 4K monitor that can handle 240 Hz, and that costs money. So the iPad Pro costs Apple more money to make, even though it can do the same things that an iPad Air can do.
I switched my Ipad mini 6 to M2 Ipad air 11". I don't regret not getting the pro. I have a M3 pro Macbook pro for the heavy stuff, so the Ipad is not my main computer. It's perfect for procreate and adobe fresco with the new apple pencil pro and I also use as a drawing pad with my Mac. Very useful for photoshop, illustrator and basicaly any designing app. I think the M2 Ipad air is a great choice. You wont notice the difference between 60hz and 120hz when you watch netflix or youtube. Most of the movies and videos are still in max 60p. Screen has beautiful colors, and I think it's bright enough.
Like comparing a Honda to a Ferrari. They both can drive but one is much more powerful and luxurious.
Brooo Ive been debating which one to get, your comment made it clear I wanted the pro. Thank you
Haha right but the thing is there is no road(ipadOS) to drive the ferrari that fast 😂
If you take into account "luxury", when buying a fucking tablet then you probably have a small dick lmaooo
@@fahadalam2807 Except there are some apps that do actually utilize the “Pro” power. Examples like DaVinci Resolve, Procreate, Final Cut. These apps have features that are so optimized that they require a higher RAM model iPad Pro to unlock its full potential. Newer games like Resident Evil, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed you can set the graphics and frame-rate to Ultra only on the Pro versions.
Most of these apps are available on the iPad Air but won’t run nearly as smoothly or be lacking certain features. The iPad Airs will allow entry level and are perfect for most Users but not the weirdos like me who need a Pro locked feature or just wish to run everything on Ultra settings.
Boom!!!!
When we are playing with iPad Pro 2024 and the iPad is charging at the same time, is the power taken from the battery or directly from the charger to play? Does it mean that like a gaming phone, direct electricity goes to play? And does this damage the phone's battery?
Great info! Thank you for the valuable content.
I tried 10th gen iPad and the 11" 2024 Air and Pro models. For what I do with an iPad (only content consumption, no creation), the 10th is fine and if I had a budget less than $600, I'd go with that and be very happy with the purchase. $325 at Amazon.
The decision between the 2024 models is a lot harder. On paper I think the Air makes the most sense. You almost can't tell them apart dimension and weight wise, especially if they are both in a Smart Folio or a similar case.
You can definitely tell the difference in price, if you are the kind person that has to track expenses. You could get both the 10th gen iPad and the new 11" Air for the price of the 11" Pro. If your iPad has or will have multiple users this is an attractive option.
The problem is the screen on the Pro. And by problem I mean, once you see it, how can you go backwards? It's so SO nice. Easily the nicest screen of any kind, on any device, that I have seen in person.
That is what I'm wrestling with, is the M4 and the OLED screen worth $400 more than the Air? Considering the M2 in the Air is going to handle whatever you throw at it during it's life cycle, is there a real reason to get the M4 for someone who isn't working with video or something similarly demanding? I'm sure it's got way better thermal and power efficiency than the M2 but you don't notice it during use. Battery life isn't better and the Air is not hotter than the Pro.
I have a few days to decide still...
Which ESR is this? Please leave me a link
Picked up the 11” air m2 with 256. Probably wont need the storage but at least I have it… those software updates alone put my macbook pro 128gb over the edge and I barely have anything on it except for some apps
Great video! I do believe you are right, but does the iPad Air come with 2 TB of storage like the prep? The answer is no because pro users need more space than regular consumers. However, if you have a large iTunes library like I do to terabytes would give you more space come here to one terabyte. The reason I like the iPad Pro is it has more storage than the iPad Air.
Yes the air makes sense for most ppl minus the premium price. I’m not a power user but I still went with the iPad Pro 11. Reason being the pro motion, oled screen and Face ID. That alone makes the price ok for pro.
This seems like a really sensible shout. I got an Air to replace my 6th Gen iPad and have been worried a bit it can’t handle light video editing etc etc. But It can and will and I just need to stop listening to tech CZcamsrs who seem to want the biggest and most powerful stuff
I want it for college, Idc about the performance but the 60fps screen would haunt me and no oled display is absolutely disgusting on any device. Idc about anything else, I just wish it had a higher refresh rate, now I have to pay so much more just for a higher refresh rate and a real display
Are you doing any high end design or creative work at college?
No I just need it for note taking@@MrKrizzer
Still can’t decide between new ipad air and ipad pro, all m2. The issue is that right now I have already pro 2018. And it will be almost the same cost air 256 + pencil pro as the just pro m2(just a little bit expensive)
I'm having the same debate. I've never owned a 120Hz device so I guess the air is ok for me. But since you're coming from a 120Hz iPad, you'd feel more at home with the pro. But if you feel like you don't need promotion or an OLED screen, go for the air. Ultimately its what you are gonna use it for :)
The fact that everyone has to show Promotion in slow motion just proves that in real world usage it's not really noticeable unless you're doing something that involves a lot of high speed moving graphics.
It's noticeable in all use cases. Trust me 😂 and especially if your phone has 120Hz
@@aryank3014 I trust you, but I got both and can’t till the difference. 😢👀
@@PLANETWATERMELON Don't speak for everyone. 60 to 120 is blindingly obvious to some people. I have a 75 Hz display at home and a 60 Hz display. I can tell the difference.
@@aryank3014a lot of apps on iOS on iPhone run well below the 120 hz but people don’t even notice
It depends on what you need.
Even if you are not a pro user, the screen difference alone is worth the price difference let alone the other features and more future-proofing u get with the pro model. The only reason u would go for the air is that u r really low on budget and can't afford the pro
I already have iPad Pro m2 12.9 it’s much better than iPad Air m2
Tip:you can connect Mac mini m1/m2 to iPad Pro or any other iPad
I upgraded from iPad Air 5 to new one 256 simply because of camera redesign and pencil pro. The fact that I could still use same Magic Keyboard was icing on the cake. Once I saw iOS 18 I knew pro was a waste of money not to mention having to upgrade to new Magic Keyboard. Until iOS has something to offer the pro vs the air that I cannot live without I’ll continue using the air and saving the money. BTW I use the air for all my needs. I do have MacBook Air but hardly ever use now. I can live with just iPad.
Just picked up the 13” iPad Air M2. The screen is absolutely gorgeous, the speakers are booming, and it crushes every app and game I throw at it. I’m over the moon with the Air-who needs the Pro?
Could you please try playing New State Mobile Game? Does the game crash? I am using a iPad Generation 9 every time I am riding in a car and about to verse enemies in battles the game crashes…
@@GemStar79it works but the game itself is super buggy
@@GemStar79just play cod or something
After getting used to 120hz screens, i can’t imagine using the iPad Air… it’s that much of a big deal, to me.
It’s not that big of a deal to me since you scroll more on your phone than your iPad since the phone screen is far smaller
I got the pro just for watch movies. I prefer to buy the best model because an iPad can run for 7 to 10 years if you don’t use it for work but just casual
sometimes we stand by our decission no matter how wrong we r , bc simply it represents our id in some way 😂, u can hold ur ground by either m2 or m4 and the them justifications r always there to pick up .
95% of people are better off with the iPad 10th Gen. Downside is the 64GB storage.
It has no laminated display 🤢 might as well travel back to 2010
Nothing beats iPad mini. iPad mini with thinner bezel, 9 inch display, and OLED will be perfect
Thanks but I chose the m4 iPad Pro ❤
If you can afford the pro get the pro. The oled is worth it. I watch everything on my iPad plus I like the drawing and coloring apps. If you are going to have it for more than 5 years which I plan on it, I had my last one since 2018 it just makes sense to get the better tablet.
Would you recommend me which is better iPad Pro or Mac Pro since they are too close for their price but iPad is restricted with iOS system ??
I like iPad Pro most cus they are more portable and practical but Iam afraid I will regret in the future if I didn’t buy Mac Pro instead 😂?
Will you be keeping the air or the pro ?
😂😂😂😂😂 the winning question.
He’s keeping the pro 😂 for sure
iPad Pro 11” is best for all
120hz is a deal breaker already
I’m not ok with all the arguments of the video. My use is not as a niche you can think. Yes, I’m a professional illustrator. I use Procreate for some time and only with the biggest 13 inch iPad (for drawing bigger screen is always better). Having 16 go of ram means bigger images and more layers. Having an oled display instead of this not so good lcd one make a difference. In term of specs these two things discalify the iPad Air m2. The old iPad Pro m2 may be a better challenger, even if it hasn’t the pencil pro compatibilities and this old screen tech. The air feels like it is as powerfull as the pro. But hey, that’s marketing !
I am a engineering student
i used a android phone If i buy an ipad is their will any problems of data sharing?
It will be 1st apple products but i am confused which should i get My preference are
1. Note taking
2.PDF reading
3.Multimeadia consumption
4.Gaming (A little bit not hard core gamers)
5. Watching netflix
I have already using the xioami pad 6 it has 144hz refresh rate screen if I am switching to an iPad which has 60hz display is their any type of problem of laggy or slow should my eye's will considering?
Lastly which iPad should I buy that will last for my 4 years of engineering?
Honestly it more so depends on ur budget, if you can try both tabs, try to see which one is more comfortable for you because of the refresh rate as for some people once they’re used to a certain amount, they can’t use a device with a lesser refresh rate. If you’re on a budget then iPad Air is good but if you can splurge then the iPad Pro since it’s also a lot more long lasting
I have an iPad Pro M4 13 inches and a Samsung Galaxy tab s9 Ultra. Both are wonderful devices!!! For some things the iPad Pro is better, and for others the Samsung.
I can’t understand 💩 your saying
