    I’m relatively new to snowboarding, and worked hard my first year, really committed to learn switch and little 180s.
    Learning switch is essential to be confident, safe and injury free. There is no short cut here. Just gotta do it.
    Along with that, toss little 1s everywhere. Everywhere! And every direction. You won’t know which of the 4 are best for you without trying all of them.
    Then focus on the 1 or 2 that feel the most natural. Throw 100 of them. Keep count. Natural knuckles are the ideal place to practice.
    I can land both front 1s off small/med jumps now, so for front 1s:
    If using rotation, commit to bringing your back shoulder all the way through the landing (this is tricky, and almost impossible if you aren’t comfortable riding switch as you’ll instinctively resist the movement)
    Lastly, do some adductor exercises off mountain. Turns out, they are vital for the movements. Mine were consistently sore until I figured this out and worked to strengthen/prepare them.
    Hope this recent experience helps

    when sliding 180s on the slope, watch out for that classic heel catch and flying backwards lol - wear a helmet! happens to the best of us

      Legit happened to me a month ago... trying to hit one down the fall line, didnt pop or rotate enough landed at 90 on my toe edge caught and landed on my face... everyone around me thought it was hilarious. 😅

    This might be a better question for when/if you do a 360 video, but Ive never really been able to do them even though Im quite comfortable with b/s and f/s 180's even in switch. Would it be so wrong to think of doing a 360 'nollie?' I havent been up to the snow in 2 or 3 years, but for some reason visualizing it that way makes it seem so much easier. I guess Ill try it next time regardless. Probably a remnant of my skateboarding when I was much younger, a fakey 360 was... almost possible, but a regular BS 360 on a skateboard is just... crazy.

      Next step for me is the roller... done a few small side hits ... not too comfortable yet landing switch at any kind of speed. Switch Toeside turns still a little dodgy.

    • @everydayabstract5270
      @everydayabstract5270 Před rokem

      F1, and switch f1 are pretty solid after a year.
      Note: I felt like a complete idiot hopping and turning. Ride up, hop, turn.
      Slow. Clumsy.
      Other riders are flying by…
      Then, late February/early March the movement became more natural. Small jumps became possible, without being dangerous. By late season, I was making smooth 10 ft tosses. It was hard to stick with it. I’m really glad I did.
      Back 1s are shaky. Yeah, I’ve landed a couple, but I definitely don’t own them.
      That is a project for this season

    The importance of switch for 180s

    • @RufftaMan
      @RufftaMan Před rokem

      Yup, I try to ride switch as much as possible during a regular day on the slopes, just to get used to it.
      Landing your 180 and then falling because you're not used to riding switch sucks. =P

    • @CyrilHeartbolt
      @CyrilHeartbolt Před rokem

      @@RufftaMan sometimes its easier to send the 180 switch than land it switch. You could try that, I guess that's what Kevin does in the video

      @@CyrilHeartbolt I personally find it harder to ollie switch than to land switch.
      But I guess that's a good option over a lip or something.

      I try to ride at least 25% of my runs switch every day on the slope. It’s helped my switch riding drastically in one weekend warrior season.

    Practice both regular and switch jumps as well. Be confident in both before attempting for a more painless experience.
