    Nice find 😊 I'm trying to research my find as best I can and found your video. I recently picked up a snap on KRA-280 box with a full 1/2" socket set and full spanner set for +-$32 (R600 South African)😅

    Very nice! That's my greatest fear, getting too old (or worse) to be able to use my tools, and having someone just toss them all.

    You know not one of the many cars and motorcycles I've fixed over the years have ever complained about the low quality tools I used to fix them !.... 🤣🤣🤣

    Found a long-handle 1/2" ratchet in the dirt of my local dump last summer. Turned it over: Snap On. Cost about 50 cents. Keeps me going back there.

      Same here, 1/2" Snap On Ratchet....rusted so bad I sand blasted the rest of the chrome off. It looks kinda cool now. I keep oil on it but there probably is some metal treatment that you can add. Funny how life can be so rough that small things like this really give you some peace and quiet. An old ratchet.

      Ive done it a few times lol never found much of anything good though. A few craftsman a gold snapon wrench bluegrass tools and a lot of chinese tools

    I have a very similar looking Snap On box someone gave me a long time ago. I didn't know it had any value its in a little better shape than yours. I took it to restore, as I need storage for my shop and have just started to restore during this covid 19 I have the time. Good luck with yours.

    I'd keep the patina heck yeah I'd be jazzed up too. I'd gen some Pentol or linseed oil on there.

    I just got this same snap on top chest today.. with the matching 7 drawer rolling cabinet..
    I got mine for free too, but I got mine from a family friend that was moving

    From what I can see , it looks like a KRA-56 or 57 ... Pretty sure those were both 6 drawer boxes ...

    The secret to heavy rust removal is to use a good grinder with a knotted wire cup. 60 grit sandpaper is also helpful.

    That is an old Snap-On KRA-59. It is pretty beat up but it could still be used for a practical purpose. That tool box used inexpensive friction slides whereas newer boxes use ball bearing slides. When used on utility trucks, where they take a beating, they don't break like tool boxes with ball bearing slides.

      @@fixergood If you go to the back, typically the lower right corner, you can read the model number and year of manufacture. Snap-On only stamped in the last two digits of the year, so 1972 would appear as 72.

    I know this is a long shot. But does anyone know how to remove the lock cylinder on this type of snap on tool box? I have one and need a key made but I gotta get the cylinder out, snap on doesn't make keys for it anymore as far as I can find

      what i was told by the snap on truck guy in I'm my area if your able to get a number off the lock like what number it is they can still find you a key but this was a few years ago now.

    That's a pretty good find were you able to determine how old the toolbox is cuz if I can remember correctly older Snap-on Tools aren't they worth a lot more

      Yeah I buy tool boxes here and they're full of tools for good prices and half of the times I keep the tool box and sell some of the tools off that I can't use

      On the front face of the lid that closes their will be a sunken embossed oval where a JH Williams decal was placed. Very cool find and a well made box.

    Not trying to hate but when the video started The bottom drawer was not open but when you went to it the video cut and the bottom drawer was a little bit open so this video might be a little bit fake with that snap on ratchet
