I don’t know, their laughing may make them too much like Jesus Culture which is paramount to heresy. Kill those emotions faithful Calvinist! They are dangerous! We just focus on the cerebral and puffing those brains full of info. It’s so good to know only about God and never feel anything for him or from him lest we be heretics.

If the new definition of reformed is “evangelical monergism,” then…. That is sad. The reformed are still an actual living tradition and are defined by far more than just TULIP or TU-IP. Almost all of these men have abandoned the ecclesiology, eschatology, and sacramental theology of the Reformers. There’s barely anything left to be align to. If this is reformed it’s a Procrustean masterpiece.

I used to believe that smoking or using marijuana was sinful. Now I have come to understand that it is in fact an herb that can be used in a way to aid in relieving certain medications and psychological ailments. I don’t believe that steeping chamomile tea (which is an herb) and using marijuana to aid with sleep issues or anxiety or whatever is much different. I believe that, most times, marijuana is not used in a way that is glorifying to God. I agree that, in most cases, it is not used in a good way. But, I do believe that it is something given to us in creation and is good to use. The devil will pervert anything that God has given us.
For example. Coca can be used as an analgesic but has been used in a way, and synthesized in a way, that completely perverts its natural use.
We replicate what God has given us by making synthetic pharmaceuticals all of the time. We basically copy what The Lord has already placed here in lab created ways that actually harm our bodies much worse. So, what is the difference?
What makes taking a synthetic drug that acts the same as marijuana would any better?? Especially when it actually harms Gods holy temple-our bodies?
Literally anything can be sinful in this fallen world. Food. Drugs. Sex. Finances. Drinking. Anything.

Here’s the thing, any mind altering anything is sinful. Wether your going to sleep or not, it’s not glorifying God as you noted. But it is really easy to make excuses. Use God not anything els. I used to be highly addicted to pot, I smoked for 15 years and was getting carried away with a gram of oil and a eighth of weed a day (lots of money) but when I was saved, porn, weed ext…. I asked for those desires to be gone and out of his sovereignty it happened. No excuses just get rid of it through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The way they make fun of other groups such as Jesus culture for clapping and...my goodness....showing emotion is so distasteful and elitist. I’m a committed Calvinist yet am so tired of this heart attitude exuded by this camp. We are the “better than thou” group, looking down on others who don’t look like us in every way. I could care less to listen to most of these guys ever again.
