Saying this as a Russian, Russians love Americans. I’m not just saying it. They really do. We’re very much alike. Apart from taking off your shoes at the door, I haven’t noticed any other differences. The process of getting a visa is much easier now. I hear one can get it online. The anti Russian thing is purely American government propaganda. I have no idea why the State department presses this agenda all the time. Most Americans don't have a feeling one way or another regarding Russians, although they probably defer on the the side of caution as Russians are tough.

I am an American and I just got back from Cuba a few days ago. You can travel under the category "support for the Cuban people". The Cubans are friendly and the old American cars are cool. I found the people to be very nice - possibly because i am American, not Chinese. The Russian tourist sites were overrun with Chinese tourists buses - good Chinese workers were given cheap vacations there as a kind of bonus. They broke all the rules, crossing fences onto lawns for photos in front of flower beds, going backwards from their tour group to get better photos - and i think the Russian workers were not allowed to chide them. If you are nice and treat people the way you would want to be treated, just about everyone everywhere is nice. This works best between women.

The people were warm and friendly and I have a Somali friend who I've known for years, who was my tour guide and kept me out of harms way. Cuba was interesting but enjoyable. I experienced little pushback for my nationalty, Cuba being a Latin country, colorism is very much alive and well there. The little flack I recieved was more due to my melanin than my country of origin.

I've been to 46 countries, out of the States for 12 years. Americans think we're the subjects of disgust abroad... because that's what our media and some presidents have told us. It's not true. Most countries are incredibly nice and caring to Americans. I was treated amazingly in Russia. Of course not since the Ukraine was invaded - but I'll bet most Russians would still treat me great - just not the political/ government entities. Yes, many Arab countries unofficially want to cut our heads off, but i would argue that's not an America thing... it's a radically religous thing. Be a nice American, rich or poor (I think, ive always been poor) they love you and treat you well in most places in the world... People care about people until you give them a reason not to care (unless of course they've been brainwashed to hate - which is not most people except in a very few countries.
