Isle of Man Steam Extravaganza, 2024
I was lucky enough, to visit the Isle of Man during their Transport Festival recently. This year the historic Steam Railway was celebrating the 150th anniversary of the line to Port Erin, and the Manx Electric Railway its 130th Anniversary.
Both lines are lucky to reach these milestones, as they were nearly closed down completely and lost. The fact these lines operate original locomotives and trams, and most of the rolling stock is at least 100 years old is remarkable. I have a deep affection for the Island’s transport, and I hope this short compilation of films made during that trip, will convey the beauty of the island’s transport infrastructure.
