Mangalacharan: Pada Vande | Odissi Dance

- Pada Vande is a Mangalacharan which literally translates to "auspicious beginnings." Odissi was originally a temple form performed in the presence of a presiding deity Jagannath. In any space we dance in, we draw upon those energies, that grace before we begin. Antara today begins with invoking the blessings of the lord, followed by an invocation to Ganesha - the remover of all obstacles. The piece ends with a trikhandi pranam -the presence and the blessings of the gods above, the lineage of gurus and the audience.
Here, I am performing chota Manglacharan with a few modifications from the original choreography for this performance.

ସୁନ୍ଦର୍ ରୂପ କୁ ସୁନ୍ଦର୍ ଅଭିନୟ।ତାହା ସାଙ୍ଗ କୁ vocal ସାର୍ ଙ୍କ ଅତି ସୁନ୍ଦର୍ କଣ୍ଠ ସ୍ଵର।ସାଗର ମନ୍ଥନ ରୁ ଯେପରି ଅମୃତ ବାହାରି ଥିଲା, ସେହିପରି ଓଡ଼ିଶୀ ସାଗର ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅମୃତ ବାହାରିଛନ୍ତି।
ପୁଣି ଆଉ ରିପ୍ଲାଇ କଣ? ମୋ comet ଲେଖାର କଣ କିଛି ନାହିଁ। ଜୟ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ।
Gosh, such an elegant choreography. Beautifully implemented as well. Having the presence of lord Jagannath on stage makes the environment even more conducive for transcendence
God! This performance made me cry, thinking what if our ancestors would not have fought for our odia culture😢 this is too good man. I'm writing in English so that everyone out of odisha can understand it too that how the British invasion in India had almost destroyed our culture, our language, please read our history to know our ancient Glory and struggle to revive it, mainly the struggle of odia culture 🙏🏻

Beautifully executed dance. Music, scenography and costume all in harmony and balance. The true inner devotion to the Divine must be the center of the act (action).
