Wah I just realized Childe's quest is about hiding the truth to protect someone else's dreams and hope while Zhongli's quest is about revealing the truth so that they won't be misguided by false dreams and hope.

Both of them are so sad. One is the dream that will fall to pieces eventually, and one is the truth slowly fades to dreams
To be honest Zhongli has a much more effective and long-term helpful approach.

When they're at their best, the story telling in this game is really, really good. Zhongli and Venti's stories are great examples of that. And then there's all those little stories told in the side quests, many of which are genuinely heartbreaking. And this game is free! Some of the developers of AAA games could really learn a thing or two from Mihoyo when it comes to crafting a good story.

I swear, the side quest stories are actually when I get the most emotional in this game. When it’s the main story quest, I can’t really feel anything. I’m really glad they included the personal stories for each character. It really lets us connect more with them.

I think it's because the Traveler has the knack of understanding the Archons of Teyvat, Paimon and MC have been traveling for a while and the MC might've learnt so much that he can speak on his own, like how the MC sent Paimon away to have a moment with Venti, and now Zhongli entrusting his memories to him, some day, we'll get to here him/her speak more

The story about the Goddess of Salt, if anything it's the most tragic story I've found so far in the game. She was as much an innocent and a victim of the archon war as her people were. If you read Diary of Roald the Adventurer Vol 1, it tells us that she was a gentle soul. And if what Zhongli said was anything to go by her people cannot endure seeing her kindness despite the chaos and cruelty of war they decided to give her a quick end, putting her out of the misery. Now that's fucked up. you know, war and all.
The betrayal was fucked up, but the people really thought she would suffer a fate worse than death. Think about this. What happened to the gods who fought but lost? They were sealed in eternity, forever trapped with being unable to do nothign. The chi dragon of qingce village who was sealed, osial the vortex lord who was sealed under guyun forest. They were sealed in solitude so long, they lost their sense of self. If you read the books concerning Xiao, when a god is sealed, their despair causes demons to spawn and Xiao and the adeptis had to kill these demons. This is how Qiqi died because she was caught in the crossfire between adepti and demons.
To the people of the time, they couldn't imagine their goddess being sealed for eternity with no love, solitude, and forever trapped... her despair and sadness causing demons to spawn, so they chose to kill her so she wouldn't suffer that fate.
Still fucked up though.

Honestly this story also made me respect venti(aka barbatos) a bit more, since he was able to survive in such a hostile time and become an archon
@@MabinogiKen Not only that, but as we saw, killing a god like being is no small thing. If her death caused her overflowing power to turn those around her to salt, imagine if Venti was actually killed or Zhongli?
The winds would erase Mondstad and the earthquakes would sink Liyue.
No wonder why they choose to seal them, the damage caused by their deaths is enough to end entire regions.
But wouldn't this mean that if Rex Lapis actually died than Liyue would have suffered a great calamity? So why didn't the Adepti realize that Rex Lapis wasn't actually dead?
Or could be that its been so long since a god like being was actually killed rather than sealed that they forgot the consequences of such a thing?
@@arnowisp6244 based on Zhongli's story quest it appears they all turned to salt when she died harboring such hate, it appears they would only cause cataclysmic events if they died with extreme rage. It still ties with them sealing the other Gods to prevent such a thing from possibly happening.
You can actually talk to an NPC to get to the boat!? I Climbed a mountain and glide to get to the boat this whole time 🗿
If you visit the pearl outside of this mission you can unlock the option with the NPC... after you do some things on the ship.
I used kaeya skills to get to the boat this whole time ...

This was a good and emotional story, very similar to venti. This quest was a joyful experience.

The "Warth of the Rock" is not a direct translation from Chinese. In the Chinese version here is 食岩之罚. In Chinese, the character 岩(rock) has the same pronounce as 言(words). 食 means to eat or swallow. 言 means words and speech. 食言 combination describes swallowing back the words once spoke out, which means someone does not fulfill his or her promise. 之罚 means punishment for something. So the 食岩之罚 sounds the same as 食言之罚, refers to the punishment for breaking the contract.

I'm a bit sad we didn't get more of zhongli/morax's own history, but this is really good, too. I love the lore of the archon war; what an absolutely brutal time it was. and it raged for centuries, jesus. zhongli's approach to contracts is very interesting, too. a contract must be abided, no matter how you might be swayed, huh... I wonder what the history behind that is. great video! I'll probably never get to this ar in the game anytime soon, but I love the lore of this game. thanks so much for the upload.

Y'know, I think finishing this quest accidentally ended up being my favorite moment in genshin so far. After the already amazing quest ended the sun was just starting to come over the horizon and there was something so somber but special about it. The soft piano, the waves on the shore, the birds cawing in the far background, the sun on the water. Something I will definitely remember for a long time.

Zhongli's story is very Chinese, you can see it from the history of Warring States started 475 BC and Three Kingdoms era started 189 AD to learn Zhongli's perspective, Chinese history is full of kingdoms duking out to be the only 'China' ever since the Qin dynasty, and being weak minded is deadly within such period.
And Havria's artifacts have designs reminiscent of Zhou dynasty and Spring-Autumn Warring States period bronze artifacts

Oh my gosh. I didn’t even realize I did the quest. I was so hyped waiting to do the Zhongli story quest that I didn’t realize this was it lol. Not that I think it’s bad. Its one of the best ones I did honestly. Story was amazing. But I wished I knew so I could relish in that story more haha.

the fact that zhongli is very uncomfortable when talking about harvia makes you think that they had a thing going on in the past. i think zhongli ang harvia gets along really well and knowing that she literally committed suicide must have been painful to zhongli. also maybe the rumor of morax killing harvia is zhongli`s representation of him being guilty that he wasnt able to save harvia or prevent her suicide attempt.

@@patricksusulin9335 no, in one of zhong li dialogue he said "salt, and betrayal" which means her follower betrayed her by ending her life. Why her follower did that? Well, they think that ending her life by her follower is better than letting her alive in a losing war because she's the weakest among other gods, can't do anything beside fleeing. It's kinda like "end her life to end her suffering" stuff, but that's what her follower thinks not her.

I once fought oceanid with nothing but bow users and I instantly regretted my decision. It took me 1 hour to beat it because those stupid cranes won't stop flying.
I compared the two voices (EN and JP) by Wanyan, and I think EN really captured the emotion she was feeling. She really felt broken from her beliefs in EN and almost scared. While JP on the other hand was very bland.

I wish I can still go back to God of Salt Ruins. After completing the quest I can't go back anymore.. they should make a ruin available..
