For a make-up lover I have a tiny make-up collection. Too many products really overwhelm me and I found products that work for me, so for many categories I don't feel the need to experiement or try new things (like eyebrows or mascaras). When I started tracking make-up usage I realized that it takes forever to use up one product and I started curating my collection more mindfully. I have only one foundation and one tinted moisturizer in 2 different shades and that's it. Just like you, I almost never use concealer,so I have only one. I do however like trying new eyeshadows and lipsticks, but even here I set a miximum number of products that I can have in my collection.
This is the goal!! What is your maximum for lip and eye? I definitely find myself having trouble with the lip category. It’s getting better, less than 30 total products including balms I think, but idk what to set my max at
@@Kizzy2021 max 12 eyeshadow palettes (incl quads), max 12 individual eyeshadows and max 2 lipsticks in every colour category (red, pink, purple, brown, nude beige und nude pink). I don't really wear lipgloss or liquid lipsticks anymore, so I just have some leftovers that I'm using up. Lipliner - one in every colour category. And I just buy replacements once I use them up.
I like that you have set limits for yourself based on what you have learned through make up usage. And I am sure you love most, if not all, that you have!
I enjoy seeing more realistic makeup collections. Mine is still inflated, especially with blushes, eyeshadow palettes, and lip products... those are in the 40-50 range each. But bronzers, highlighters, and brows are very low - in the 3-4 range.
Wow! You do have quite a range. So interesting the stark contrast in numbers by category for you!
This was interesting! I started keeping an inventory last year. I have 198 total products and don’t want to go over 200…I’m living in the edge!!!😂 In 2024, I’m attempting a “2 out, 1 in” rule to reduce the size a little bit.🤞🏻 Blush and lip products are my largest categories!
Haha you are so close to 200!! Interesting, for the “out” are you decluttering or panning?
@@AB_BEEWith the exception of 1 or 2 items that are on a “chopping block”, I really love my collection so definitely panning. I’m at 3 out and 2 in so far but have an almost empty primer so so far, so good!👍🏻😊
Wow! Your makeup collection is goals. I started project panning last year because I realized I have way too much makeup. Basically, all of my makeup categories are out of hand except for mascara lol I am currently on a low-buy and working on finishing as much makeup as I can so that I can see those numbers go down.

I have been keeping track of my makeup for a couple of years and it's funny how it changes over time! I'm definitely a concealer girl but 14 concealers is ridiculous even if they are quite small and I will definitely be able to finish quite alot this year! I've got 2 categories where they are double figures everything else is single figures and that's my main goal since I used to have over 300 products. I would like to be more minimalist but honestly in certain categories I can't see that happening.

I think it's so helpful and eye opening to track your makeup inventory. I started doing this a few years ago and do project panning on my channel (if anyone wants to watch it!). It does take so long to use up on product, regardless of the category!

Eyeshadows, lipstick blush are my biggest categories. I have been on a lipstick low/no buy for a while and honestly only brought in a couple over the past several years. My goal is to have more blush pans and eyeshadow palettes that look loved instead of barely touched. Many of my other categories are similar to yours except eyeliners I love those and don't see an issue with having lots of them.

I added all my categories together including hair, skin care, and body care and I have 250 products including makeup. I feel like I have a huge collection but it is smaller than most.
Oh interesting that you put it all together! I haven’t counted anything other than makeup, but now I’m curious to see that number too.
I have a plenty large collection but I'm trying to be better about buying too much makeup. I'm currently on a 3 month no buy and I've been tracking my purchases since 2022. My biggest categories are eyeshadow palettes and lip products. Hopefully this year I can be even wiser about which products I bring into my life.
I am sure you will be! How is your no buy going? I’ve never intentionally done one but am interested in giving it a try sometime
