Alan seems to become aware of this at the end of the game through the help of his support network (Saga, Alice, Casey, Mr. Door, Tor and Odin). He realizes that the loop is actually a spiral he can backtrack and escape from. Additionally, memory lapses are a common trauma response as the mind forces itself to forget horrible experiences, and that is reflected in the fact that Alan forgets everything at the end of every loop/spiral. "She is, because of you" - At first this seems to reinforce that Mr. Door knows that Alan turns into Scratch, but he's actually referring to Alice putting herself in danger by willingly entering the Dark Place to help Alan escape, and incredibly selfless and loving act. "And so is someone important to me, someone you pulled into this" - Pretty much confirms that Mr. Door is Saga's father. "You keep opening doors, peeking in" - Mr. Door knows that the Dark Place is a spiral, not a loop, at least for Alan. "This and our Night Springs, it was a nice distraction" - Aside from teasing the DLC, I believe this is also part of Alan's coping mechanism. Entertainment, in the form of TV, musicals, and writing, to distract him from the reality of his trauma.
I never really thought Door meant Saga, I'd assumed he was referring to the only other character interested in him, Tim Breaker - I don't know what would have changed for those lads to be friendly but he never says he cares for that person only that he's important to him.
This actor did so good, you could tell it was written for Lance Reddick but he pulls it off. And I love how he basically tells Alan what we all think. All his rules he puts in place “it has to fit the genre, someone has to sacrifice” it’s all him, anything he writes becomes real. He would have just written a paragraph describing his way out and it would come true but he insists it has to be perfect. Like all writers hung up on the small details
To be fair, in the first game it's mentioned that Thomas Zane tried to take a shortcut and it didn't work out for him. I'd say yes there are rules that need to be followed, but probably not to the degree Alan has been doing.
The Dark Presence finds ways in even the smallest plot hole. That's likely why it keeps making Alan forget previous attempts- so that he'll slip up and allow the Scratch (and by extension the DP) to come to reality.
I have been wondering if the armies of people that helping Wake means the countless players playing the game, thus helping Wake walking through the story loops again and again?
If the "armies of people" really refers to the players, that's one of the most f*ed up things in a game that's already full of all kinds of bizarre. It would mean that Alan has gone through the loops in the spiral for hundreds of thousands if not millions of times already, and playing the game is basically torture for him.
It's messed up, but if you think about it, it's a good strategy for him. By Alan Wake making his situation into a game that hundreds of thousands if not millions of people will play, each iteration would increase his odds of escaping, eventually one person would get it right, fill in that missing piece, 100% it, or in the case of the game (and in collaboration with the game developers who clearly noticed the love the game was getting and then decided to add the feature of) get that New Game plus ending which shows that in the end everything worked out and he came out of the spiral.

References dreams where he's himself but different, and there's people who he knows but doesn't. Red headed woman (Beth Wilder/Jesse Faden), Mister Door/Martin Hatch. It's not subtle. It's the classic multiverse loophole lol
@@anessamer I wouldn't say he's evil. He inadvertently did something that could be evil if done on purpose, but it wasn't even really a conscience decision he made knowing full well the consequences. It was something he did out of desperation that he didn't even remember that he did until it was already said and done
That very moment where he drops the friendly talk show host act and revealed himself properly to Alan was pretty intimidating, the whole scene just in darkness for the most part, it was perfect 🔥
David Harewood brings such gravity to his role, his facial expressions and his voice just carries it. What a perfect cast for this minor character. You can see the tenseness, the barely held back anger, the eye twitch and the face twitch that goes up the chin, the hands held behidn the back. You need to watch this a couple of times to really realize this high level of acting he put into these barely 3 minutes. You can just feel the raw emotions that he wants to convey. Just look at 02:26 when Wake asks for straight answers. You can feel that he just said something stupid and that Door is just getting enraged here. You can feel from just the body language that he became a threat to you and it feels scary.
@@MRTUNA Everyone says this but it's not certain. I believe Remedy started casting and shooting for Alan Wake 2 before Reddick passed away, so there is a good chance that David Harewood was their guy from the beginning anyway.
Door says that alan "keeps peeking in" to "get what he wants" and that "puts him in his path". If Door is someone who is in all realities at once, and Alan is peeking through different realities to get what he wants. Then its not him changing reality with his writing, its rather him finding the right one that fits his writings, and shifting to it.
i’ve thought exactly this for awhile. Imagine every story anyone could ever possibly tell, all written on the same page in black ink. That page wouldn’t look like it held every story. It would just look dark. That’s what the dark place is: it’s every possibility at once, and therefore none of them. Whatever the Presence is, it needs writers to narrow down the possibilities.
Its possible? I've been replaying Control recently and there was a line by Dylan where he mentions a dark place and Mr Door. How Mr Door told him there are multiple realities on top of each other, overlayed over one another. He also says "there's a world where a writer wrote a story about a cop, and another world where the cop is real". Maybe the original timeline is alan writing the book but he shifted to the reality where Alex Casey is real? Maan I love Remedy
@@shaokhan4421 i don’t think that’s so much the case as the OH is a nexus point where multiple realities can intersect and be accessed, the shifting rooms is the building literally shifting, but I think it’s probably doing so to allow for itself to function as a nexus. Connections between realities are shown to be fairly tricky and unstable so a building that facilitates such connections must itself be tricky and unstable.
The Dark Place is the "Ocean" under the Narratives. The Chaos of All the Things of Fantasy and the Collective Unconscious. But Light/the Clicker solidifies them through Observation. @@chexfan2000
Showing up after all the silly talk show and musical antics...and seeing him sitting on stage at his desk while the entire studio is cloaked in darkness, that shit was unnerving. The dead silence. The lingering on his silhouette. The way he carefully and slowly removes his glasses before standing to button his suit jacket. Remedy is doing a great job of making Hatch/Door the G-Man (Half-Life series) of this connected universe.
Atleast we'll know who is mr door of this universe unlike half life universe g man...who now I don't think we'll see even pop in a game of valve in future

My interpretation is that Mr Door existing in multiple realities is also a gatekeeper. He was the one who prevented Dylan from spreading the Hiss even further to other realities in Control. Im assuming he's trying to keep Alan from spreading the Dark Presence because of his attempts at escaping, which in one of his attempts ended up involving Door's daughter, Saga. I dont know how much of this story has been written but the fact that a lot of this lore got spread about between this series and Control is really cool.
@@ConsueloVillegas-bh1uj After Dylan breaks from the Panopticon and moves to Central Executive you can talk to him, if you talk to him he will tell you about his dreams, in one of the dialogues he mentions a Dark Place and a Dark Man calling him by his name "His name is Mr. Door". I would recommend searching for the video because it is really amazing how the were weaving Alan Wake II story since Control.

i took it as this.....right now he needs wake, even though wake is directly responsible for sagas involvement, door knows he's also the one who can get her out. @@ReneRivers Probably referring to the upcoming New Game + or DLC that is going to presumably continue the story onto the next "loop" of the spiral. Remember in the current game Wake received a phone call from himself in the future, which was never shown in the game. This is also a phone call likely from a future spiral iteration. I'm not sure what very different means, but its possible its just referring to the fact that both Wake and Saga are probably going to be able to be remembering each iteration of the spiral at that point. So he might be able to interact with them differently. Its possible his warning to wake to continue playing his part could be in reference to that Wake will be remembering each spiral but he'll need to still "play the part" as he did in the first New Game, even though he knows everything that is coming, he still has to play the part and do the same stuff in New Game +, but possibly able to make small changes here and there, but not too many changes.
If Lance Reddick hadn't passed away. I would've bet by left nut that he would've been Mr. Door and it would've even more directly linked Quantum Break and Alan Wake.
I thought that as well but realized he passed away after most/all of the game had been filmed and voice acted already...which made me realize Remedy purposely chose a different actor for whatever reason only they know. I would say that this was so it isn't overtly obvious that Door/Hatch are one in the same. But Tim(e) Breaker is practically Jack Joyce in another reality and it's really damn obvious...so why not do the same with Hatch/Door? Maybe it's because Microsoft wouldn't allow Reddick to play Door because the character of Hatch and Door are both insanely similar to one another and since Microsoft still owns the IP for Quantum Break, they weren't up for allowing a connection quite that close. I guess changing his appearance was something Remedy/Microsoft was willing to compromise on.
I think they intended for Door to be the same character, or an alternative version of him but Microsoft owns the Quantum Break IP so they can’t legally include anything from there. All of this was recorded before Lance passed away regardless, but it’s clear that they intended for it to be the same character
@@PlagueJall of Door's parts are live action, all they had to do was insert the video files, could've easily been done near the end. Lance had a very busy schedule, they could've been waiting on him to film those segments.

I don't get how they can do Night Springs as a DLC. At this point I'd want an octopath traveller style episodic TV showgame that culminates in the remedy moviegame that ties everything together.
@@Dragonk116 AN was a failed attempt made by Alan to escape the Dark Place. If we take the line of dialogue I pointed out as a hint of what is going to happen, it seems Alan won't be the one in control of The Night Springs show the next time.
absolutely loved the live action scenes but this one was definitely a personal favorite of mine. The way Mr Door went from the happy and chippy friendly show host to Lance Reddick impersonation was unsettling yet so badass

Only Door family members can seemingly traverse the Dark Place freely. Tim Breaker tried mimicking Door's steps and failed while Saga succeeded immediately. He's 100% her father. I reckon her powers from both sides of the family will finally allow them to take on the Dark Presence more offensively from the jump in AW3 instead of just blindly responding to things.

I loved this scene, this game feels like it draws alot from The Dark Tower series and this part reminded me of the conversation between Roland and The Man in Black: Mockery was creeping into his voice again. “You are the world’s last adventurer. The last crusader. How that must please you, Roland! Yet you have no idea how close you stand to the Tower now, as you resume your quest. Worlds turn about your head.” “What do you mean, resume? I never left off.” At this the man in black laughed heartily, but would not say what he found so funny.
Damn, you're probably right. I mean the game clearly draws inspiration from many of the works by Stephen King. The power of shining or "Ka" basically the magic system that is present throughout all Stephen King's novels and stories and the powers are quite similar in the game too. The dark place is like the todash darkness, and I remember the ka-tet even visited a dark version of new york city in book 5: Shouldn't be able to see our shadows when it's this dark. Stupid thought. It wasn't dark. It was morning, for Christ's sake, a bright May morning, sunshine winking off the chrome of passing cars and the windows of the stores on the east side of Second Avenue brightly enough to make you squint your eyes. Yet still it seemed somehow dark to Eddie, as if all this were nothing but fragile surface, like the canvas backdrop of a stage set. [...] Yes, like that. Only behind this canvas you wouldn't find the workshop and storage areas of backstage but only a great bulging darkness.
As I understand it, in this story he helps Alan, but only in order to save Saga - his daughter. With the help of the show, he restores Alan's sanity and memory, thus guiding him towards the final. Dylan (from Control) mentioned that he met him in the Dark Place and learned about other worlds for the spread of Hiss, but Mr. Door did not support this idea and did not help him. Based on all that has been said, I think he plays the role of a gatekeeper and must protect the worlds from influencing each other.
Its scary, reading the transcripts and more so playing the game to the end, knowing that he is related to the Andersons and thus immune to all of this, but evenmore immune to the Dark Place itself. Reading Control lore, Ahti was pulled into the story by Alan, but Mr. Door? He's there because he wants to, making him Remedy's most powerful being thus far.
Which makes the darkness and the hiss look like weak baby's in comparison when he is clearly a higher Eldritch terror that I feel like Alan and Jesse are going to have to team up to take on Mr Door.

The Dark Place is submitted to a very strict logic , people cannot freely move in it , they have to follow specific rules if they want to reach a specific endpoint, Mr Door, Ahti and Saga are the only exceptions we know that far, they can freely move in the Dark Place out of this logic, unlike others . But the words of Door confused me, he says this to Alan as reproach , so maybe he knows that Alan can be able to moov in the Dark Place with more ease but didn't and choose these complicated ways instead causing trouble for him and at the end trouble for others
Well, I think his point is that Alan is as capable of moving through realities as the other three you've listed, being a parautilitarian and all, he just keeps restricting himself with these rules that - unlike Zane - may not actually apply to him.
"Masks come off" "You don't even know who is under your mask" At the end of the game , the characters realize that when they found Alan Wake in Cauldron Lake , they found the real Wake, he really managed to escape the dark place ,BUT Mr Scratch escape too and he was/is (inside) of Alan and finally took over him at the end of the game, before going inside pf Casey . So I think Mr Door knew that , he knew that with Alan escaping the Dark Place Mr Scratch will escape too (within Alan), so Mr Scratch is the "who" under the mask .
- Anderson brother addressing Alan as Tom means that Alan was actually Thomas Zane, since the Andersons are immune to fiction, and the Anderson brother has known Thomaz Zane. Alan Wake is likely a persona of Thomas Zane written by himself with a back story of receiving a magic clicker as a kid, and a personality vastly different than himself to try to escape the dark place. -Mr. Door, as shown in this screen, knows Alan Wake is not a real identity, thus the mask speech in this scene, further proof that Alan might just be a persona of Thomas Zane. - The rules of "there are only victim and monster" and "there must be a sacrifice to balance the outcome of saving of everyone and the sacrifice must be myself " are not true; instead, they are self-imposed by Thomas Zane/Alan Wake. Thus, the line: "endless loop you insist on going through" -The whole game is about a person who got stuck in life hoping to get out, who thought he had to do everything himself, and was oblivious to the help offered by the people around him along the way. He got caught in an endless loop of depression due to the self-imposed "rules". He is not only hurting himself but also other around him.

Alan can’t just write anything he wants, Tom tried that and the dark presence twisted his work. Alan’s instead using his skills to devise the best outcome possible, but it’s extremely messy. Warlin Door wants Alan to stop trying, cut his losses, and choose a victim to complete the story.

Saga had no issues whatsoever overcoming the Dark Place, she basically just walks out. e.g. She was in and out in a breeze compared to Alan's 13 years of hell, she seems most definitely related to Door/Hatch.
Mr Door is the most intriguing character for me, because we don't know much about him even after the game. at first i thought of him as an embodiment of the setience of the Dark Place, but later on it's being said he's a dimmension traveller, or something? i got so confused lol i'm wondering when will the "next time we meet" happen, wether in Control 2, Alan Wake 3 or, possibly, Quantum Break sequel. whatever the case is, i'm so intrigued into the whole Remedy-verse and can't wait to see more!

One of the announced DLC’s is titled “Night Springs.” I theorize that this DLC will surround the Night Springs meeting Mr Door mentioned here. Maybe he will actually be considered a for?
Night Springs should be the next IP for a full game. Mr Door could host each episode. Some episodes could be horror or creepy science or paranormal weirdness.
We need a Doors game, or to see him again as an antagonist somewhere down the line ! His abilities are fascinating, he feels like an eldritch god with mastery of parallel dimensions

I think some of the armies of people helping Alan is the FBC. But what if the rest were his readers and fans? The Dark Place feeds in art. What if Alan gained strength from their imagination? His readers would be keeping him alive.
Does this scene imply that Alan Wake is putting other people in danger by writing them into his story in his attempt to escape the dark place? That seems like a dick move :D
so i guess Mr. Door is another interdimensional entity other thant "the dark prescence", possibly even more powerful cause it can enter and exit dimensions as he pleases, but i so fucking intrigued as to what is is role with Wake and his possible relationship with saga (father).
I just hope that there's an Alan wake 3. Explaining door, WHY bright falls is an awe and things like that. They 100% have a chance to make one more game that finishes it all, and answers every question we have
It begs the question after Control 2, if there will be a crossover game where all the key players of both games come together/clash. Our heroes Jesse, Saga, Alan, Odin and Tor, maybe even Alice and Tim Breaker teaming up. Our villains being The Board, the Dark Presence/Scratch, Tom Zane. Dylan and Mr. Door potentially being antagonists or allies at some point. And Ahti will just be Ahti. So much to look forward to.

So I think we all can confirm & agree that Mr. Door is Saga's Father? Not only is Saga a Seer on her Mom's Side, but she's also the Daughter of a Parautilitarian.
I am so excited to see what Door is talking about when he says they will meet again, and Alan should either play his part or stay out of Door's way. Maybe Door will be the antagonist in Control 2? Or we will finally see the end of time in Quantum Break 2? Or something else entirely? Regardless, I love the character of Mr. Door.

Mr Door is Martin Hatch from the Quantum Break series. This is how they are connecting the two game worlds. Warlin Door says he is looking for someone as well, that someone is most likely Tim Breaker ( Jack Joyce ) that is trapped in the Dark Place. (This is just my theory but it is very plausible to be a fact :D)
he's talking about saga when he says someone important to him is being dragged into this (by wake, therefore being kind of pissed towards wake). saga's father supposedly disappeared after being hit by a lightning strike. saga's mother broke bonds with her father due to something he did. her father, so saga's grandfather is thor, the god of thunder. when saga asks thor about her father he says 'some DOORS are better left unopened.' warlin door is saga's father.

He's the one that Tor didn't like and the reason that Sagas mother was upset at Tor and Odin was that they sacrificed Mr.Door to the darknesss at Cauldron Lake when the Darkness was threatening the family. the family are Seers so it's dangerous for them around the supernatural

@@UhDewSea Mr door from Quantum Break was also hatch. They just changed his name from hatch to door because Microsoft owns the copyright to Quantum break and their characters. I'm not saying its not possible that Door is Saga's father, but he is definitely martin hatch. But Martin Hatch/Door exist in all realities simultaneously and can freely move between them, so it is possible he may have had relationships and a child/children. He could be both Hatch and Saga's father, but we won't know until the story is continued. There is no question he is hatch though, Remedy has very clearly done everything they can to show the player that this is Martin Hatch without violating copyright, they even got the new actor Harewood to speak and act in the exact same way as the previous actor Reddick in the scene from this video. Additionally he does also likely care for Tim Breaker to some extent, in Quantum Break, he was shown to have some amount of care for all of the Shifters, so its not clear if he is referring to Saga or Breaker in this scene.

This actor did so good, you could tell it was written for Lance Reddick but he pulls it off. And I love how he basically tells Alan what we all think. All his rules he puts in place “it has to fit the genre, someone has to sacrifice” it’s all him, anything he writes becomes real. He would have just written a paragraph describing his way out and it would come true but he insists it has to be perfect. Like all writers hung up on the small details
To be fair, in the first game it's mentioned that Thomas Zane tried to take a shortcut and it didn't work out for him. I'd say yes there are rules that need to be followed, but probably not to the degree Alan has been doing.
The Dark Presence finds ways in even the smallest plot hole. That's likely why it keeps making Alan forget previous attempts- so that he'll slip up and allow the Scratch (and by extension the DP) to come to reality.
Isn't the main concern in this game that if Alan leaves, Scratch can also get out?

If the "armies of people" really refers to the players, that's one of the most f*ed up things in a game that's already full of all kinds of bizarre. It would mean that Alan has gone through the loops in the spiral for hundreds of thousands if not millions of times already, and playing the game is basically torture for him.
Love with that implies as us the players, that many of us with our own copy helps him go through the spiral, very trippy indeed
So we're causing a hellish experience for Alan Wake.
It's messed up, but if you think about it, it's a good strategy for him. By Alan Wake making his situation into a game that hundreds of thousands if not millions of people will play, each iteration would increase his odds of escaping, eventually one person would get it right, fill in that missing piece, 100% it, or in the case of the game (and in collaboration with the game developers who clearly noticed the love the game was getting and then decided to add the feature of) get that New Game plus ending which shows that in the end everything worked out and he came out of the spiral.
Yeah like American Nightmare being one of these loops were "Alan" technically escapes the dark place but in this current one he is still stuck in it.

That very moment where he drops the friendly talk show host act and revealed himself properly to Alan was pretty intimidating, the whole scene just in darkness for the most part, it was perfect 🔥
I don't think he revealed himself just yet. When Alan says "Masks come off", Door's response was a rather cryptic "Oh I wouldn't go that far."
David Harewood brings such gravity to his role, his facial expressions and his voice just carries it. What a perfect cast for this minor character. You can see the tenseness, the barely held back anger, the eye twitch and the face twitch that goes up the chin, the hands held behidn the back. You need to watch this a couple of times to really realize this high level of acting he put into these barely 3 minutes. You can just feel the raw emotions that he wants to convey. Just look at 02:26 when Wake asks for straight answers. You can feel that he just said something stupid and that Door is just getting enraged here. You can feel from just the body language that he became a threat to you and it feels scary.

@@MRTUNA Everyone says this but it's not certain. I believe Remedy started casting and shooting for Alan Wake 2 before Reddick passed away, so there is a good chance that David Harewood was their guy from the beginning anyway.

Door says that alan "keeps peeking in" to "get what he wants" and that "puts him in his path". If Door is someone who is in all realities at once, and Alan is peeking through different realities to get what he wants. Then its not him changing reality with his writing, its rather him finding the right one that fits his writings, and shifting to it.
i’ve thought exactly this for awhile. Imagine every story anyone could ever possibly tell, all written on the same page in black ink. That page wouldn’t look like it held every story. It would just look dark. That’s what the dark place is: it’s every possibility at once, and therefore none of them. Whatever the Presence is, it needs writers to narrow down the possibilities.

Its possible? I've been replaying Control recently and there was a line by Dylan where he mentions a dark place and Mr Door. How Mr Door told him there are multiple realities on top of each other, overlayed over one another. He also says "there's a world where a writer wrote a story about a cop, and another world where the cop is real". Maybe the original timeline is alan writing the book but he shifted to the reality where Alex Casey is real? Maan I love Remedy
@@shaokhan4421 i don’t think that’s so much the case as the OH is a nexus point where multiple realities can intersect and be accessed, the shifting rooms is the building literally shifting, but I think it’s probably doing so to allow for itself to function as a nexus. Connections between realities are shown to be fairly tricky and unstable so a building that facilitates such connections must itself be tricky and unstable.

Showing up after all the silly talk show and musical antics...and seeing him sitting on stage at his desk while the entire studio is cloaked in darkness, that shit was unnerving. The dead silence. The lingering on his silhouette. The way he carefully and slowly removes his glasses before standing to button his suit jacket. Remedy is doing a great job of making Hatch/Door the G-Man (Half-Life series) of this connected universe.
Atleast we'll know who is mr door of this universe unlike half life universe g man...who now I don't think we'll see even pop in a game of valve in future

My interpretation is that Mr Door existing in multiple realities is also a gatekeeper. He was the one who prevented Dylan from spreading the Hiss even further to other realities in Control. Im assuming he's trying to keep Alan from spreading the Dark Presence because of his attempts at escaping, which in one of his attempts ended up involving Door's daughter, Saga.
I dont know how much of this story has been written but the fact that a lot of this lore got spread about between this series and Control is really cool.

@@ReneRivers Probably referring to the upcoming New Game + or DLC that is going to presumably continue the story onto the next "loop" of the spiral. Remember in the current game Wake received a phone call from himself in the future, which was never shown in the game. This is also a phone call likely from a future spiral iteration. I'm not sure what very different means, but its possible its just referring to the fact that both Wake and Saga are probably going to be able to be remembering each iteration of the spiral at that point. So he might be able to interact with them differently.
Its possible his warning to wake to continue playing his part could be in reference to that Wake will be remembering each spiral but he'll need to still "play the part" as he did in the first New Game, even though he knows everything that is coming, he still has to play the part and do the same stuff in New Game +, but possibly able to make small changes here and there, but not too many changes.

I thought that as well but realized he passed away after most/all of the game had been filmed and voice acted already...which made me realize Remedy purposely chose a different actor for whatever reason only they know. I would say that this was so it isn't overtly obvious that Door/Hatch are one in the same. But Tim(e) Breaker is practically Jack Joyce in another reality and it's really damn obvious...so why not do the same with Hatch/Door? Maybe it's because Microsoft wouldn't allow Reddick to play Door because the character of Hatch and Door are both insanely similar to one another and since Microsoft still owns the IP for Quantum Break, they weren't up for allowing a connection quite that close. I guess changing his appearance was something Remedy/Microsoft was willing to compromise on.

I think they intended for Door to be the same character, or an alternative version of him but Microsoft owns the Quantum Break IP so they can’t legally include anything from there. All of this was recorded before Lance passed away regardless, but it’s clear that they intended for it to be the same character

Only Door family members can seemingly traverse the Dark Place freely. Tim Breaker tried mimicking Door's steps and failed while Saga succeeded immediately. He's 100% her father. I reckon her powers from both sides of the family will finally allow them to take on the Dark Presence more offensively from the jump in AW3 instead of just blindly responding to things.

I loved this scene, this game feels like it draws alot from The Dark Tower series and this part reminded me of the conversation between Roland and The Man in Black:

Damn, you're probably right. I mean the game clearly draws inspiration from many of the works by Stephen King. The power of shining or "Ka" basically the magic system that is present throughout all Stephen King's novels and stories and the powers are quite similar in the game too.

As I understand it, in this story he helps Alan, but only in order to save Saga - his daughter. With the help of the show, he restores Alan's sanity and memory, thus guiding him towards the final.
Dylan (from Control) mentioned that he met him in the Dark Place and learned about other worlds for the spread of Hiss, but Mr. Door did not support this idea and did not help him.
Based on all that has been said, I think he plays the role of a gatekeeper and must protect the worlds from influencing each other.
Honestly, we need a literal movie about Alan Wake, with these actors
Its scary, reading the transcripts and more so playing the game to the end, knowing that he is related to the Andersons and thus immune to all of this, but evenmore immune to the Dark Place itself. Reading Control lore, Ahti was pulled into the story by Alan, but Mr. Door? He's there because he wants to, making him Remedy's most powerful being thus far.
Which makes the darkness and the hiss look like weak baby's in comparison when he is clearly a higher Eldritch terror that I feel like Alan and Jesse are going to have to team up to take on Mr Door.

The Dark Place is submitted to a very strict logic , people cannot freely move in it , they have to follow specific rules if they want to reach a specific endpoint, Mr Door, Ahti and Saga are the only exceptions we know that far, they can freely move in the Dark Place out of this logic, unlike others . But the words of Door confused me, he says this to Alan as reproach , so maybe he knows that Alan can be able to moov in the Dark Place with more ease but didn't and choose these complicated ways instead causing trouble for him and at the end trouble for others

At the end of the game , the characters realize that when they found Alan Wake in Cauldron Lake , they found the real Wake, he really managed to escape the dark place ,BUT Mr Scratch escape too and he was/is (inside) of Alan and finally took over him at the end of the game, before going inside pf Casey . So I think Mr Door knew that , he knew that with Alan escaping the Dark Place Mr Scratch will escape too (within Alan), so Mr Scratch is the "who" under the mask .
Was scratch even real though? Alice seems to portray Alan as a long time abuser. I assume this was happening long before they went to Bright Falls.

- Anderson brother addressing Alan as Tom means that Alan was actually Thomas Zane, since the Andersons are immune to fiction, and the Anderson brother has known Thomaz Zane. Alan Wake is likely a persona of Thomas Zane written by himself with a back story of receiving a magic clicker as a kid, and a personality vastly different than himself to try to escape the dark place.
-Mr. Door, as shown in this screen, knows Alan Wake is not a real identity, thus the mask speech in this scene, further proof that Alan might just be a persona of Thomas Zane.
- The rules of "there are only victim and monster" and "there must be a sacrifice to balance the outcome of saving of everyone and the sacrifice must be myself " are not true; instead, they are self-imposed by Thomas Zane/Alan Wake. Thus, the line: "endless loop you insist on going through"
-The whole game is about a person who got stuck in life hoping to get out, who thought he had to do everything himself, and was oblivious to the help offered by the people around him along the way. He got caught in an endless loop of depression due to the self-imposed "rules". He is not only hurting himself but also other around him.

Alan can’t just write anything he wants, Tom tried that and the dark presence twisted his work. Alan’s instead using his skills to devise the best outcome possible, but it’s extremely messy. Warlin Door wants Alan to stop trying, cut his losses, and choose a victim to complete the story.

Saga had no issues whatsoever overcoming the Dark Place, she basically just walks out. e.g. She was in and out in a breeze compared to Alan's 13 years of hell, she seems most definitely related to Door/Hatch.
She also has far less personal issues to struggle with compared to our favourite tortured writer

I think some of the armies of people helping Alan is the FBC. But what if the rest were his readers and fans? The Dark Place feeds in art. What if Alan gained strength from their imagination? His readers would be keeping him alive.
fun fact Mr Door is Martin Hatch in Quantum break. Mr Door is a Shifter. Comes in many forms from different realities.
Which leads me to believe that in Quantum Break he was supposed to originally be the main villain.

Does this scene imply that Alan Wake is putting other people in danger by writing them into his story in his attempt to escape the dark place? That seems like a dick move :D

This scene is superb. The whole game is but this is sp well done. David Harewood doing a superb homage to the late great Lance Reddick
so i guess Mr. Door is another interdimensional entity other thant "the dark prescence", possibly even more powerful cause it can enter and exit dimensions as he pleases, but i so fucking intrigued as to what is is role with Wake and his possible relationship with saga (father).

I just hope that there's an Alan wake 3. Explaining door, WHY bright falls is an awe and things like that. They 100% have a chance to make one more game that finishes it all, and answers every question we have
I think door will be more explored in Control 2, since he's even mentionef in the og game
It begs the question after Control 2, if there will be a crossover game where all the key players of both games come together/clash. Our heroes Jesse, Saga, Alan, Odin and Tor, maybe even Alice and Tim Breaker teaming up. Our villains being The Board, the Dark Presence/Scratch, Tom Zane. Dylan and Mr. Door potentially being antagonists or allies at some point. And Ahti will just be Ahti. So much to look forward to.
@@BababooeyGooey I read more online that there's 2 dlc for Alan wake 2 being released. A "night springs" dlc which is gonna be epic and the "cabin on the lake" dlc which will tie it in to the FBC and probably control 2 like you were saying

Not only is Saga a Seer on her Mom's Side, but she's also the Daughter of a Parautilitarian.
I am so excited to see what Door is talking about when he says they will meet again, and Alan should either play his part or stay out of Door's way.
Maybe Door will be the antagonist in Control 2?
Or we will finally see the end of time in Quantum Break 2?
Or something else entirely? Regardless, I love the character of Mr. Door.

I like the live action cuts but they could of made it more reflective of the actual game. Like having Alan shine a flashlight into Warlins face for the entire conversation.
Was that studio modeled after the one from Joker?

I think David Harewood truly captured the spirit of Lance Riddick in this role and I’d be okay with Sylens being recast by him in Horizon 3

correct me if i’m wrong but mr door comes off as the devil to me, unless he’s just another “puppet” or “form” of the dark presence but i feel like he’s above the dark presence almost like its master = the devil

Mr Door is Martin Hatch from the Quantum Break series. This is how they are connecting the two game worlds. Warlin Door says he is looking for someone as well, that someone is most likely Tim Breaker ( Jack Joyce ) that is trapped in the Dark Place. (This is just my theory but it is very plausible to be a fact :D)
he's talking about saga when he says someone important to him is being dragged into this (by wake, therefore being kind of pissed towards wake).
saga's father supposedly disappeared after being hit by a lightning strike. saga's mother broke bonds with her father due to something he did. her father, so saga's grandfather is thor, the god of thunder. when saga asks thor about her father he says 'some DOORS are better left unopened.'

@@CasuallyDeepno, Door is not related to anything in Quantum break. In control, Dylan (Jesse's brother) mentioned Mr. Door. He is Sagas Father. He's the one that Tor didn't like and the reason that Sagas mother was upset at Tor and Odin was that they sacrificed Mr.Door to the darknesss at Cauldron Lake when the Darkness was threatening the family. the family are Seers so it's dangerous for them around the supernatural
@@UhDewSealegally, he's not Martin Hatch, but he definitely is. Similar name, similar powers and here, where David Harewood speaks in the same style as Reddick.
@@UhDewSea Mr door from Quantum Break was also hatch. They just changed his name from hatch to door because Microsoft owns the copyright to Quantum break and their characters. I'm not saying its not possible that Door is Saga's father, but he is definitely martin hatch. But Martin Hatch/Door exist in all realities simultaneously and can freely move between them, so it is possible he may have had relationships and a child/children. He could be both Hatch and Saga's father, but we won't know until the story is continued.
There is no question he is hatch though, Remedy has very clearly done everything they can to show the player that this is Martin Hatch without violating copyright, they even got the new actor Harewood to speak and act in the exact same way as the previous actor Reddick in the scene from this video. Additionally he does also likely care for Tim Breaker to some extent, in Quantum Break, he was shown to have some amount of care for all of the Shifters, so its not clear if he is referring to Saga or Breaker in this scene.
Loved Harewood in this.
But man, I really miss Lance Reddick.
