- Returning to his familie's manor house on the lonely moors after his father dies under mysterious circumstances, Sir Henry Baskerville (Christopher Lee) is confronted with the mystery of the supernatural hound that supposedly takes revenge upon the Baskerville family. The famous detective Sherlock Holmes (Peter Cushing) and his assistant Dr. Watson (André Morell) are brought in to investigate.
Has been and always will be one of my favorite books of all time. I'm 17. Don't say that there is no hope for future generations.
There are many good versions of this tale on film, but for me this is the best movie version. My opinion is of course highly effected by the presence of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee and because I am of an age when these and the supporting actors/actresses were frequent friends on the tv and in film. Perhaps quaint by todays techniques but richly coloured and rewarding.
I have just finished reading this book and i loved it, my dad has this film version of dvd and i so have to watch it, the trailer looked really good.

The plot strays from the original here and there, but it's still very enjoyable. Plus, I'm a big fan of anything starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee (:
I saw the newer remake on PBS once, it was AWESOME with a capital AWESOME. Besides The Young Sherlock Holmes and the mystery of the Mummy it was the best Holmes movie I've seen.
That image of the dog at the end scares the living shit out of me. 😖
Love Peter Cushing + Christopher Lee.... But Jeremy Brett reigns supreme; even in death.

True it's not 100 percent faithfull to the novel,
Which I will always take over any film version of the story, But IMHO it's still a hell of a fun film.
I wish our school wouldn't make us read drivel and get us to read the masterpiece that is the Hound of the Baskervilles. Or any other Sherlock Holmes book for that matter

The first Sherlock Holmes in coulor and the first Hound Of the Baskervilles since Basil Rathbones version...it was a pretty risky move

@xElvenEmily Don't consider yourself overly smart, it's no major accomplishment to read this book. I just finished seventh and have read it. Though it's good that you're taking an interest in these kinds of things.

end scared me
lol, nothing in this trailer is at all in the book. It looks like it could be a good movie (I like the casting) but I'm troubled because of the fact that the plot looks completely different than the actual story.
