I would have loved for you to show us the mess made with self rising flour! I did something similar to that with making dumplings. It was a mess! I’ve been very sure to check very closely from that day on as to what kind of flour I’m using! I can’t wait to make the cake when you post the recipe. Thank you, it looks delicious.
This may sound weird,,but is the crumb of the cake like memory foam? Not like a crumbly or oipy cake and not spongy...just like memory foam? I jad a piece of the most delicious pound cake, it was crunchy on the outside, but not eggy tasting and the cake inside was not dense, was not oily, was not too wet or dry. It just had the most incredible texture. Hoping this is it.

Linda, I made it! Did add 1 tsp. of lemon extract instead of 2 vanilla. It was sooo good. One thing was mine wasn’t crunchy on the outside.

Cake flour is NOT self rising. Don't use self rising flour in this recipe but all purpose flour (white lily) is the same as cake flour. TFW God bless

In the UK eggs are not kept in the refrigerator. Don't know why the US does this. Waste of refrigerator space and unnecessary.
