It basically mimics ice skates. Put chains on the rear tires and that will help the rear end from kicking out as easily
Infinite burnout recipe.
with 2 chains you basically turned the front tires into skis
And this is why it doesn't brake well.
@@StephanBuchin I am thinking, not to lock the brakes. Tires should rotate even when breaking.
Indeed, locking the wheels is not the best way to stop a car ☺
Change how the chain is mounted like in the shot with the bike chain broken down into 10 pieces. Going through the spokes like tire chains would be more effective
Yeah or ice skates
seems like tires with groves would be good to secure a chain in
Would be easy to do
@@ReinhardSchusteryep you could also a later the tyre tread with a re groover.
The chains are smooth in that direction.
If you had short bits welded across between them (like a ladder) it would
work much better for stopping. It might put you into the windshield.
Like a Chainsaw chain?
What?...😂😂 reread 🧠👨🦽@@fampic7133
I think doing that would make them more like traditional tire chains, and those are very effective for acceleration and stopping. Personally i have never used them on the steers, but I've heard it makes for a really rough ride for the driver at least in a semi
I would have wrapped the chains around the rim. You can do the same thing on a bicycle with zip ties for snow riding. It works killer.
That's a tank tread
when you added the second one it lead to a "chain reaction" 😂
You should use chainsaw chains. The direction of the teeth would determine grip. Careful not to get cut.
Yep, two chains in opposite direction, one for acceleration, one for braking (on a front wheel drive car).
It will work like pair of skates
i want to kiss you
Unfortunately that wouldn’t really work unless they took the time to grind off teeth that interface with the drive gear on the saw and the chain guides on the saw bar.
@@Chopped93VXwhy wouldn't it work? The drive teeth would just bite into the rubber and hold them in place even better
Love that you guys are starting to do more scientific approaches. Willy nilly is fun but there's some good stuff in here and multiple runs of things help get the anomalies out.
vlads laugh is so funny
I want Garage 54 to make a video on how fast you can spin a studded tire until the studs start flying out.
You guys crushed it again ! Amazing
Love watching your channel
chaiswaw chains!
Great works sir !
Just a thought about improving the braking with the chains, I’m thinking if maybe every 10 or so chain links you inserted an appropriate sized bolt and nut through the chain link so , the end of the bolt protruded through the chain link about 5 mm , essentially making the chains like spiked tyres.
Given the nut and bolt would be slapping the road every rotation it may require a dob of weld on the nut/bolt to secure the bolt from coming loose or crush the end of the bolt in a vice .
Very good show thank you
Looks like fun. 👍 always a great job everyone keep at it.
now, for threaded studs that let you anchor the chain at certain points. marvelous work as always
Chainsaw blades coming up next...😅
And they are thin enough so you could add a bunch of them. How would 10 chainsaw chains per tire affect ice mobility?
@@grndzro777 my model tank I made with a potato cannon. I tested the traction using them vs. bike chain. The looks made it go into madmax. Cool but not what i was looking for, but gripped like no other. In fact I maybe wearing a bandaid in videos from testing. 🤣
A lot of motorbike hill-climb racers use chain like this--transverse across the rear tire--for improved traction in the dirt. It works extremely well.
Thanks for that comment, Might work well on a garden tractor for snowblowing if things turn icy.
Love it.
Weld transverse links between two lengths of chain to the width needed for the tire, 8-12 cm apart along the circumference. Widen the separation between the two loops to the edges of the main surface area.
Tire keels.
Sold only by Ronco.
try sharpened bolts in between some of the chain links
I’ve done 1 chain like this on the front wheels of my 4wd tractor for snow removal, it works pretty good
I've put 8 of them on my argo😊
I love the paint work on this vehicle! For stopping improvement the chains should be attached radially. I suggest an experiment with radial chains on the drive wheels, and like you did here for the steering wheels. For a second experiment, add the chains radial all the way around, then add chain like you did in this video over the top.
I’d say having traditional tire chains.
With the bicycle chains on TOP of the traditional chains.
Would dramatically increase performance and longevity of chains
Add small bolts in the spaces in the chain and tack weld on. Maybe 10 mm proud of chain and 4 mm bolt
Love it 👍
I am wondering if you could attach the chain with the studs by using a longer stud to go into the stud holes and thereby making the chain more stable on the tire.
Rerun the 2 chain set up with welded rod between the chain links. I reckon stopping returns to close to standard
Thanks Vlad for another fun video. would like to see tires with cleats sticking out of tires by 1/2 inch . anyway keep the videos coming may GOD bless in these troubled times.
I think it would be nice to see how it would turn with chains on the back too, love the show's
I wonder what would happen if you added chainsaw chains to the rear tires with the teeth pointed forward on the contact patch to aid in braking.
Id be interested in seeing 1 chain on each but not in the middle. Like all on outside or all in inside or one out and one in. I theorize this will not limit the contact of the tire on the ground as much, so braking would not be effected as much. And the offset for steering may allow for a quicker ability to grip.
chain the back tires to stop oversteer ?
Have you tried diverting some of each cylinder exhaust into another cylinders inlet. Wondering if that would become a natural supercharger or something similar?
Put some screws in the open part of the chain for the back tires.
That’s brilliant
1 chain front, 1 chain rear!!! gotta try it!!
Ice skates!
EDIT: How about fitting ice skates in place of the front wheels. or a snowmobile setup?
Maye try it with the the chains on all four wheels.
Standard short hex head self drill / tapping screws (shed roofing) as studs for tyres. ???
Between the two rows of chains, a thick wire or rebar could be inserted crosswise, on the front and rear wheels.

Make sure to ballance it!!!
😂
Two chains!!
Chainsaw chains next? On the back also to stop the fish-tailing might help
Nice to know
Chains front and rear I think would make it handle like it were on rails.
Wonder how chainsaw chains would grip?? 🤔
Cut a groove into the tire so the chains sit a little further in, just like the studs. That way you have more contact with the rest of the tire.
Old bike messenger trick is to wrap zip ties around your rim 2 between each spoke, front and back for snow riding. It works killer.
Lets Do This!
I thought this went well. I seen how you did the tire to the motorcycle. where it ran across through the spokes of the rim. Would you be able to to do that on a car tire? I understand the caliper will have clearance issues. Just a thought. I definitely thinks it's worth trying out the chainsaw chain, to replace the bike chain. I agree with that idea I had read in the comment
You should try to put chains on rear wheels as well.
9:08 vehicular jack slaughter.
Chainsaw chains!
Probably better than the remanned tire chains my company provides for our semi-trucks lol
put some screws, nails, or some kind of studs sticking out from through the links in the chain to improve grip
Need try with chainsaw chain. Terth helps stop
instead of bicycle chain maybe you should use chain saw chains, you should get turning grip and stopping grip, if you have the teeth pointed the right way.
Chainsaw chains next on all wheels!
it works even better if you use an old tire and cut a groove in the tread about half the dept of the chain
ive seen them use chans on go kart slicks for racing on ice and they first cut grooves in the tires (angle grinder held against a turning tire works eaziest )
better to use old summertires. Grooves are in them allready.
I wanted to see them on all four.
Some people put what they call grooved tires on the front of their sand rails for better steering in sand.
Cool sorry bro
There's a lot of American rap songs that talk about this technique. They love talking about putting 2 chains per tire.
Does the lada not have abs
Might stop faster if you turn the steering wheel slightly (slightly!) left and right. Ice skates, after all. Next time, try putting crossbars under the chains at regular intervals. Reinventing the tire chain, but for fun. Mostly, I'm curious how long those bike chains will last, especially if you hit pavement. But there are heavier chains . . . .
Nuts and bolts though chaines
science 👌
2 CHAINS!
I wonder if you turn wheel all the way to the left or right while hard braking and it should brake better then no chain 🤔
it will just make the car go that direction
Try the chainsaw blade chain.
You guys turned those tyres into ice skates
How about just put two regular chains (not from bicycle, motorcycle or chainsaw)? Tire pressure will hold them in place and may be they would not get skids. Well anyway in tractor regular chains without any spikes will be enough, better than without them anyway. But there was some ladderstyle between them also...
Obviously you need 3 chains per front wheel to increase contact area, some of the chains also need to be thinner. This is because of the angle of the tire changes when you are steering. Normal snow chains on rear wheels would help with braking.
Hey Guys, How about chain saw chains on the 2 Drive wheels !???
Make a plow at the back as brakes.
Silly Garage 54. A bicycle chain isn't what you want, a Chainsaw chain is!
A chainsaw chain would be interesting.
Try a chainsaw chain... that'll work. 😊
Thank for putting your videos in English.
Put a chainsaw chains around wheels, will get alot better grip also for acceleration!
why do you not put chain saw chains on
Notification squad Have a nice weekend!🔥🔥🔥
Why not test this breaking with ABS???
What happens when you hit bare pavement? It doesn't look as though you have any. hahah I love your channel.
Replace the bearings of the conneting rod on the crankshaft with ball bearings
What about 2 Chene per tire for all four tires
Can you run a car without a thermostat? i am curious to see with this cold weather if the car will get to operating temperatures
Not when it's cold out. Won't get to temp. Even with stats, lost of times on diesels, the rads get winterfronts to stop air all together.
It's possible to run a car without thermostat, but it needs some adjustments... Even during cold the engine can overheat without thermostat as you need to also disconnect the radiator fan.
next time try with chains from chainsaw... :) should improve lateral grip as well.
в следующий раз попробуй с цепями от бензопилы... :) должно улучшиться и боковое сцепление.
NINTH!!!
Actually it's a proven concept. Dune buggies sometimes use front tires with a big rib in the center.
I think it could be better if u put the chains horizontally
How about you remove the front wheels and replace them with some kind of ski? I did this to a Honda ATC and it worked good enough in the snow for a trike 👍
Weld some motorcycle chains together and make chain tires!
Сварите несколько мотоциклетных цепей и сделайте цепные шины!
Use chain saw chains more bit nice
O que acha de testar combustíveis de supermercado, como óleo azeite, querosene, bebidas alcoólicas diversas, álcool de limpeza etc. E ver o rendimento deles.
For braking, you need the chains sideways
We all did in old times in norway
How about some chains in the back to stop over steer
"SHOW IDEA" Have you ever considered replacing the break-pads with like sized tire tred?
Please test if piston rings are rotating, I myself believe they are constantly rotating, however many of my friends believe they do not.
I believe only on seriously worn engine when cylinders become oval they might not rotate... Or if anyone reading has some videos about it, or proof, please do let me know :)
I want you to put those chains on the back and try to drift it on ice ☺
1 chain on all 4
WHAT is up with that insanely huge spoiler contraption!!!
