It's worth noting that retail pricing may NOT reflect MSRP (already seems that way from the looks of it), and in that case, price to price to perf. should be reevaluated accordingly.
Small edit: I mention the core clock offset was set to +135MHz but the screenshot shows +140MHz. 140MHz ended up crashing one of the games, so backing it off slightly got us back to stability. Sorry for any confusion
Hey, Kyle, why do you keep repeating it's worth it, because it's on pair with the 1080, since it's actually not. 1. You compare OC'd to stock, as if the 1080 can't be OC'd (It'd have been interesting to compare perf. jump between 1070ti stock and OC and 1080 stock and OC); 2. You compare MSRP to actual market prices; 3. With the 1070ti all partners' cards will be with the same base clocks as the FE and if you want the boost in performance you'd have to manually OC, whereas with 1080 you can buy factory OC'd cards and don't bother. 4. Not very fair but still worth mentioning - the 1080 has been long on the market and you can find many used ones (the way I bought my Strix).
Still, a good video, just personally didn't like the conclusion that it should exist and it's worth it.

Suyash Bajpai Except the 1080 is more expensive. If both OCed the difference is there, sure, but minimal. The price bump isn't and therefore the 1070ti is the better buy for most.

Just built a 1070Ti Strix and Ryzen 7 2700x system myself, couldnt be happier with the overclock and performance. It's definitley a good card for 1440p. Can all titles that I'm playing on ultra at 60 fps. You might get a few fps more with that i7 since its better for gaming I believe.

Instead of putting out a 1070ti I would rather they dropped the price of the 1070 and 1080.

Why would you want to waste money on two 1070ti cards in sli? Most games don't support sli and those that do you won't double your performance. Get a 1080ti instead if you're serious about two 1070ti cards in sli. You'll get better real world performance.

In South Africa there's a 22% price difference between the 1080 and 1070 ti (Both MSI)... That to me makes the 1070ti quite appealing as an upgrade from my 960 2GB as I just got a 4K monitor.

KFA2 cards are rubbish. I'd rather have a gigabyte tripple fan design 1070ti than a 1080 from KFA2.
Right now a 1070 TI goes for $470, while the cheapest 1080 is only 20 bucks more for $490. And of course you can OC the 1080 to get more performance. So yeah, this card doesn't make any sense.

The Gigabyte 1080 with a 3 fan cooler is right on $500 last time I checked.
A shitty blower style 1080 is still a 1080. It's going to have superior performance over a 1070ti. Blowers are louder than open fans, but it's not like they result in a precipitous performance drop off.

On the higher end I would expect people to buy a little differently with preference in mind rather than solely price to performance, but it makes sense to me to try and fit a 1080 in my budget over a 1070ti if at all possible, like by taking out $30 from my case or storage budget and reallocating it to my graphics card.

why would they not? the whole point of the 1070ti was to suppress the Vega cards, so benchmarking it against VEGA makes doubly more sense.

then change the fan? or use another fan header then the one on the card. its running 100% all the time and cannot be controlled (confirmed by corsair staff when i reported the problem to them). changing fan and setting it to like 50% rpm on a quality fan should yield same results cooling wise and drop the noise to half or below.

Really? a maxed out 1080 is only 3-4 FPS better than a maxed out 1070ti, for 100-150 dollars more. The 1070ti made the 1080 pointless until the 11 series later this year.

Can you make a video on the 3rd party coolers for GPUs? The Arctic Accelero coolers and the AIO coolers that can be used on GPUs and see if they make a massive difference. I have a spare AIO and want to know if it will make a huge difference on my GTX780.

TBH I'd go with the best I could afford. if $20 means an overclockable cpu, I'd go straight for that cpu and 1070ti rather than locked cpu and 1080. Just go for the all round best for budget.
That model of the 1070 ti (553) is only roughly $40 cheaper than a Strix 1080. And actually more expensive than the gigabyte version. ($519). I don’t see the price to performance being better than the 1080....

I wish you'd show the 1070 as well. The slot it fills seems rather small. Also, it sounds to me like yields were low on 1080 chips or something, so they took chips that weren't *that* broken and disabled a piece so that they could sell them. It also explains why they waited a year and a half to launch. If they already had them produced and sitting around, it makes more sense to sell them than to not. They only need to sell enough to cover advertising and overhead costs, which aren't very much for a GPU of this tier.

GTA V results are sporadic between test runs. I can play GTA now and get 144 fps easy then close it, open it again and I'd get around 80 fps out of the blue with 0 changes. Plus all the assets for the online version are present in the single player, just you don't have access to them unless you're doing mods.

As far as tech youtubers go Kyle is probably one of the worst, he doesn't put any extra effort into his benchmark comparison videos and from what ive seen has the least knowledge about computers and testing methods out of people like Paul, Jay, Linus etc.

I just bought a EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2 ICX card and it overclocked to 2114mhz stable, with temps at max load never going above 60c in Total War Warhammer 2 with DX11, and I bought it for 275.00 used on Craigslist!!!! and this isn't the TI model, I'm extremely happy!!!!

I think the great majority at the end of the day want to have the best they can afford and just leave it to auto overclock and so seeing stock speeds is a more realistic result for me and I'm sure many who just want a good card and won't spend time doing super overclocks.
