About Ellen Alien:
An icon in her field, Ellen Allien is a visionary artist who looks to the future for inspiration and presides over a highly-influential techno empire. Ellen runs two labels (BPitch and UFO Inc.), performs regularly at prestigious clubs and festivals all over the world and she’s an accomplished producer with eight solo albums under her belt and an extensive catalogue of singles, EPs and remixes for seminal labels like Warp and Mute. Ellen also runs her own bi-monthly ‘We Are Not Alone’ raves at the new Revier former Griessmuehle in her beloved hometown Berlin, also hosting in-store record shop gigs under the name Vinylism. A constant source of new ideas, energy and inspiration Ellen Allien’s comprehensive knowledge and intuitive approach to music are part of her genetic makeup. Her future-facing sound takes subtle influence from the blueprint created by the pioneers of techno, while painting a vivid, prophetic image of where we’re going.

One of my favorite things about this set is that there are a few moments where tracks are just slightly out of phase for a moment, and of course she quickly corrects it, but not only is she unafraid to just play, but that it makes it sound more human and organic when that happens. Sets don't have to be sterile and surgically precise, and she's so skilled. Amazing track selection and flow!

Completely agreed. It's a sign that she didn't analyze her tracks prior to mixing. She mixes CDJ's the way she would a vinyl (by ear) and it gives it a more organic sound. Every DJ should do this.

@@tehdom1nator That is absolutely correct! You can be sure that Ellen never looks at the bpm ad! There are only a few DJs who pitch so quickly. I personally enjoy pitching and think it is an essential part of this art.
I used to hear some DJs in Berlin who intentionally created this offset during the transition. It was roughly pitched and corrected perfectly on the vinyl in regular paragraphs before the beat deviated too much. The beat was only set perfectly shortly before the change of the bass line in the transition and it always caused loud emotions on the dance floor!
