      Only 3 strikers had 5 fewer goals than xG last season: Jesus, Havertz, and Nunez. I love Jesus, and hope he stays fit and bangs in 20 goals this season, but you can't be that wasteful and get an A rating. Jesus is rightfully a B, and Nunez is rightfully a C (since he's just as wasteful, without as many of Jesus' positive attributes). Jesus has a history of being wasteful, so he'll probably still be a B at the end of the season. Last season was Darwin's first in the prem, so he's the more likely to of the two to dramatically improve and become an A this season.

    When they spoke about other strikers, they based off on their ‘current performance’ or ‘player’s ability’ or ‘talents’. But when they spoke about Darwin Nunez , they brought in PAST SEASON. I thought the ranking should be based on their current season and performance ? Nunez scored in Newcastle and got an assist in the Villa game btw. He’s always creating chaos on the pitch and defenders have no idea what to expect. He had a really great pre-season. Even today he had 2 assists in the international game. He’s going to just get better and better.
    P.S. Darwin was 64 million not 80.

    • @madeupstory9510
      @madeupstory9510 Před 8 měsíci +3

      Darwin was 80m€. You use € when the deal isn't within the EPL! And secondly, who on Earth said that this ranking was based on this season?! It's their whole legacy with an inclination towards the latter portion of it. They did this with all of Alvarez, Jesus, Jackson, Son, Højlund, Jimenez, Richarlison, Watkins, Antonio, and more. I do not know where you got that idea from. The comparison was based on last season, this season, ability, goals scored and numbers(stats). Players like Nuñez and Jesus are clear on ability although of different type. Jesus is all round while Nuñez is a very natural number 9. But while Jesus has good numbers(enough for his play style), Nuñez doesn't seem to capital on his. The reason Jesus wasn't an A was cause he isn't as good of a striker as those in A although he most certainly is as good of a player in general if not better. Nuñez on the other hand is a striker. Nothing more or less. So all he will be judged for will be what one would expect from a striker. 9-12 goals win him a C, sth like 15-17 would win him a B and 20+ would win him an A. Anything out side of the ranges I mentioned is debatable. I mean let's be serious, would Nuñez with 9, 15 and 20+ goals all fit in 2 groups? I doubt it. A third group is needed and this season of his fits in it.

    • @toddmacadam3888

      Last season is what they meant by current performance. You can't judge players on 4 games. It's last season, plus how they've started this season. They do consider past history, but only when it supports a point. For example, Jesus has been wasteful his entire career, including last season, so that's a fair point for not rating him A. Jimenez was a solid B player in the past, but since his injury he's been awful, so his past is rightfully ignored.

    I would say, Calum Wilson is quite literally the number 9 for Newcastle. And isak is 14 like henry funnily enough. Wilson has 13 in 22 games, but has been a sub so not many minutes. In these games hes scoring once every 50 mins played. Since april. Only player with a better minutes per goal last season was Haaland. And Wilson netted 18 goals. Not too shabby.
    Wilson plays as a centre forward, and would do every game if not for injuries. In that sense he is a poor mans aguerro.

    Jesus is not getting the credit he deserves here:
    Just looking at "11 goals last season" is shallow because less we forget he was injured for 1/3 of the season, and even when he's not scoring, he's still involved the goal with his superb link play, such as at Wolves when he held off the defence to pass to Viera who crossed to Odegaard to score, a superb showcase of teamwork & link play. He offers more than just scoring goals, akin to Harry Kane. He's not a pure number nine like Haaland but he doesn't need to be.
    But sure, just judge him by his goal numbers, like when Carragher picked Jack Grealish over Ryan Giggs because he had more goals & assists in their treble seasons.
    Granted, his finishing could be improved; his main job is still to score goals, and hopefully he does, but if he remains fit this entire season, plays regularly & if the others are up to speed, he'll score twenty goals, which he should be doing every season minimum.
    He's our number 9. ❤

      I disagree with the Alvarez take, while he is a great player, I don't see him as an actual number 9, more of a False 9. Also 9 goals in 1500 minutes is not A Tier prolific striker anyways (We are talking about Premier League rankings). Fine with the rest of it.

      @@RippahOverlord I agree I think he played for a Villa, Spurs, Chelsea or Brighton, even Brentford could he do what Toney can? he wouldn't look anywhere as good. It is easier to score for City than it is for those teams.

      @@user-bq2tc6dh6t yeah, he's definitely lacking in that area, I'd say Toney would probably do a better job as a pure 9 than Alvarez in any team

    Isak and Watkins in B is harsh if Toney is in A. I would say Toney is a better finisher then them but Isak and Watkins are technically better players on the ball with their pace
