It is fantastic!! Enter at 9:30 am , break at 10:30 am, Going to lunch at 12:30 pm , actual lunch at 1:00 pm, ping pong games at 1:30 pm, more breaks, meetings with mentors at 4:00 pm, leave at 5:30 pm, get drunk at 6:00 pm. While, some obscure Amazon worker in an more obscure warehouse, is working a 12 hour shift and can't go to the bathroom.
Or you can work at home, no one is watching you anyway. The main thing is to complete tasks on time.
Honestly I can't code for more than 4 hours straight without literally getting vertigo so I always wondered how they even work 8 hour days. Not to say it isn't a cushy job.
its the choice of the individual person .. what he chooses to do and how he does it .

I currently work at Amazon as a Digital marketing intern, for anyone wondering... the hiring process to work at Amazon as an intern/Apprentice is PAINFUL! A lot of waiting, It took me a year to get the job I work at currently. Best advice, keep your options open don't put all your eggs into one basket cos sometimes they don't even say you didn't get the job.
Thanks for sharing! For me it was actually not that bad honestly, the whole process including interviews took me about 2 months. I definitely agree with your last statement though, there's a lot of uncertainty all throughout the process right up to the very last moment before getting accepted.

@@upcomingKang Very hard to answer! If you want to follow the traditional route, you'll first have to get a degree which will take you around 3-4 years. During that period you could possibly already get an internship at a such companies by building up a portfolio of personal projects.

I am a computer science student I hope to work like, man
I remember a guy coming into my college that worked at Amazon, telling us how he made programs that gamify work for factory workers essentially pitting them against each other. I just remember all of us wondering how he sleeps at night.
It has a massive image problem and probably repulses a lot of new workers but it actually helps you mentally get through the monotony of the work. It is all optional and you can play non competitive single player games.
What steps did you have to go through to get into amazon Dublin?

What was the interview process like ? How Long? Much coding Questions?

Is it important to specialize in one track like web or mobile dev b4 applying to internships at faang?
Itâs not a requirement to specialize, neither is it a necessity. As long as you know a couple of languages and have a good sense of logic & algorithms youâre good. I can highly recommend diving deep into web though, as a lot of FAANG software work is focussed around something web related.

I often listen to either lo-fi music, or the Minecraft soundtrack, as they help me get into a deep focus :)

Nope, learnt TypeScript and React on my own in my free time, and I hadn't worked with AWS before joining Amazon, so I learnt that during my internship

Yeah they do, as long as you include a disclaimer that all opinions are your own and not Amazon's, it's all good. (edit: you also can't share project details under NDA of course and you have to respect privacy of others)

Amazon does not require having a college degree for a number of positions, and they have remote options for most positions, so for sure!

Sure! It's definitely great practice for coding interviews and it helps your algorithmic thinking in general, which is always a skill employers are looking for.

Does layoffs effect upcoming 6 month sde interns. Please reply.
Intern positions will likely stay open, but there is a hiring freeze at the moment, so getting a return offer after the internship might be harder. Also depends on the team you're interning in, mostly the Alexa team is affected by layoffs from what I've heard.
