- I came up with this pattern after needing a sleek but heavy streamer to fish some moderately fast but deep water. I guess we'll see how it performs.
Hook: #6 3x long streamer
Thread: Black
Tail: Bear fur, cinnamon
Body: Medium wire, red and silver
Wing: Bear fur, cinnamon

Savage Flies is a project with the mission of encouraging and teaching fly tying to as many people as possible. The channel is named after one of my western Maryland homewaters, the Savage River. Thanks for stopping by.
Since you used bear fur, then let’s call it the “picnic basket”
Since it's a nice simple fly. How about the "bear necessity". Jungle book anyone?
I’m glad I found this channel. I do a lot of”freestyle” fly tying. I’m a week into it and just love tying whatever looks good or seems useable. I’m still building my knowledge on the materials but it’s great to see you making my your own flies and displaying them
Thank you, Matt.
Nice fly Matt! I would call it " The Bear Essentials". Take care.
Nice fly Matt. I love simple. The fish are going to love this just like ‘cinnamon toast’
That’ll fish thanks for sharing Matt, “Bear Claw.” Have a blessed day my friend.
Well Matt, the streamer appears to be trout candy, as in, a "Cinnamon Red Hot Streamer". Well Done my Friend. Keep up the quality work.
Well thank you Lee!
Bear Claw O'Neill ! I like that fly, thanks for sharing Matt!
Looks like an Ursa Major Hitter to me. Love the tie and your fishing videos. Keep it up. Thank you Matt.
Well thank you Richard! I appreciate the note my friend. :-)
The Grizzly Adams - Great lookin fly!
Great fishing clip! I thought we might be watching “127 Hours” play out all over again! Glad you managed to keep your foot!!
Haha! I wasn't that stuck, but it did take me a little while to unwedge my foot. :-)
Great job Matt
I love that your creating flies that are something you need Matt. For a name "Poohbear" from the Winnie the Pooh stories
Well thank you! And everybody loves Winnie the Pooh. :-)
The “Grizzly Streamer” plain and simple, Enjoyed the Video, Thanks for Tying😊
Bear Snare
Thanks Matt
That was a nice fish you had on Matt
Yogi's pick-a-nick basket, thanks Matt love your channel
Hi Matt great vid kudos thanks mark
Cinnamon Girl. You won’t be able to tie it on without hearing that song in your head.
Oh man, what a great song Craig! I love Neil Young. :-)
Great try on that trout, fun ! I thought the name of "Lucky Stripes" for the streamer
This looks like a very effective pattern! The hair choice is unique too. Thank you for sharing as always! Tight lines! 🎣😎
“Cinnamon Twist” neat looking fly Matt. You have a wonderful week my friend.
Well thank you Jeff!
@@SavageFlies you are very welcome my friend. You have a wonderful weekend and have a Happy Father’s Day my friend.
I like it, nice tie!!! Call it simply, "Yogi's Delight." Thanks, Matt.
The Grizzly bear!! I am adding to my list to tie, just starting on this adventure. Enjoy your info.
Thanks Larry! And welcome to the sport my friend. :-)
Sweet Steamer! I’d call it Yogi’s Hair!
Watching this enjoying a quiet beer, and just put my glass down on a ‘Bear Matt’
great new streamer pattern ✅😎👍
I hereby dub thee, Ralph! It looks like a Ralph to me! Or maybe a Rodney. 😂 Sorry, couldn’t resist the dubbing pun! 😂😂😂😂 But seriously, Bear Necessity! 😃
Hahaha! Flies named with common first names could be a new trend. :-) How about the Bob, or the Mark? I kind of like this idea. :-)
Savage bear streamer.
Hi Matt,
Love this streamer, would like to see you fish it and all of your creations at the end of the videos.. Great job as always, have a great day.
Appreciate it Rick!
Grizzly Adams.
Nice fly Matt with lots of possibilities. As you mentioned it could be tied with other hair and wire color combos. I recommend Banded Hair Sinker (BHS) This one would be a Cinnamon Bear BHS. Other combo names, Black Skunk BHS. White Bucktail BHS, Red Squirrel BHS. You get the idea. Cheers
That's a good take on it! Lots of names have "bear" in it, but those names wouldn't apply if you tied it with another hair. And the banded part is key. But then again, there are some cool names with bear in them. :-)
I would go for "Cinnamon Toast".Nice streamer.
Nice one Matt-
Bruin's Cinnabarb
That is a nice looking streamer. I haven't tied a wire body like that but I can see some possibilities with different colors and sizes. I would call it the Heavy Honey with that nice blond bear fur.
I like it Mel!
Thanks for the video Matt. Nice quick tie. What about- A Dash of Cinnamon .
Love the fly!! Streamers are a smallmouths dream. Only found that out recently. Will definitely tie this one up but will need to get some larger wire. Impressive take on that long cast for sure. My cinnamon spy name is Pond, James Pond🤵♂️
Hahaha! I love it Mark. :-)
NICE FLY MATT call it Matt's Bear's Den
How bout 'Bear's Ear Steamer', what a beauty!
hairy bear. Thanks for your video too
You're most welcome Roger! I appreciate the note my friend. :-)
Morning matt nice streamer looks good late to the party I cant top any names already proffered 😊
Great Fly... Maybe Winnie's wire wrap. Love your content!
Well thank you for the kind words my friend!
Cool streamer. I like the name Bearly Perfect! Keep the tying videos coming Matt!
Hi Matt. Nice streamer. I’m thinking the Bear Butt Streamer. Enjoyed the river footage. Take care.
Bear Butt. Nice one John. :-)
@@SavageFlies Thought you’d appreciate a little humour. 😁
Nice fly, nice fish,Ain’t it fun!Sorry for your troubles. But that “bearly matters” when you’re fishin.
Hi Matt. A Wired Yogi , Thanks
Great looking fly. I’d go with calling it “The Bear Necessity”. Thanks for sharing. Hope we get to see you fishing it.
Nice fish you had on. He was definitely a jumper. You hate having one get off. But in that situation glad you didn’t go for a dip while being stuck. Or worse and having an ankle injury. Love the clips.
No kidding Jeff! Thanks for the note my friend. :-)
Good looking fly, Matt
Can't wait until you name this fly. Thanks for the video, and hopeful next time you'll get that fish in the net
Thanks Dave! He was still there and feeding the next day but I didn't want to harass him two days in a row. Just matching wits with these guys is sport enough. And he had already given me a fun few minutes. :-)
Bearly There. Love its simplicity Thx Matt🙂
Don't know why, but when I saw it, the name came up in my mind: Robot Riot. Maybe because oof the heavy metal body. So another name could be heavy metal bear's hair 😂❤❤❤ Like this pattern!
Oh man, you're the first one with this theme Martin. I love it. I have my kids help pick the top five and my daughter is into heavy metal. She might just dig this one. :-)
🤘
Im thinking with the cinnamon fur and the two tone color wire that something along the lines of “the cinnamon roll swimmer” would be a neat name
I would name it The Bearly Wired Streamer. Nice tie that sinks quickly. If you chase your thread with the wire, it makes it easier to keep them even. That's,Matt, for another original fly.
Great tip Ed! I do that with peacock herl bodies, but didn't think of doing it with wire. I'll have to try that. :-)
Cinnamon Stick
Cool fly
I would call it "bearly sinking" :D
I'll submit the name, "Cinnamon Peppermint Bear". Thank you for this opportunity.
You're most welcome! Thanks for playing. :-)
“The Bear Arrow Streamer.” I dig it.
"Yogi's Picnic basket" seems about right!
Call it Boo Boo 😅 Glad you didn't get hurt and split your knee open like I did ❤ Great video Matt, nice steamer too. I won't tell Ranger Smith you lost a Korker 🐻👍
Haha! Can you believe replacement soles were fifty bucks! But I had to order a pair. I love these boots. But the next Korkers I get won't have the removable treads. :-)
Awesome fly! What about “cinnamon trout crunch”, or The Savage Hair bear Bunch. Fozzie the Streamer! Oh… bear necessity
Fozzie the Streamer! I love it. We'll see if it makes the cut with my kids. :-)
Matt let's go with the bear necessities
The bear essential
I like the fly it’s a “Bruin slammer”.
Hey Matt. Love the fly. Looks to be "Bearly Legal" to me. Have a good one.
A simple name for a simple but effective Fly, the Cinnamon Streamer.
perfect name is "buttered rum". thanks for another terrific video
Thanks Walter! I appreciate the note my friend. :-)
nice fish. glad he got off saved you the hassle of letting him go.👍😎❤️☮️
Exactly! That's what I always tell myself. :-)
Hey Matt, it's been awhile, was surprised to see me some cinnamon bear fur, nice looking fly. As always, keep your head dry and your Flies wet. "Polar Opposite" streamer.
Thanks Phil! I do love that patch of cinnamon bear. :-)
I would call it the Bear Bullet Stramer.
Nice pattern Matt. , That will catch . I'm here a little to late. All the good names are used up . I'll just say ( The bear essential ) Good luck to whoever you chose. Oh no just watched the fishing portion of the video. I have to say that's a first . Bad enough lose your fish but your cleat as well . Bum deal . It could have been worse you could have been really stuck and required a rescue lol . Better luck next time Matt.
Hahaha! Thanks David. What's more, ordering replacement cleats wasn't cheap! But I had to. I love those Korkers boots. :-)
I thought of another one… “Goldilocks and the savage bear”
How about Cinnamon Ursus? In any event a nice fly and I'm betting it will catch fish. Keep the good stuff coming Matt.
Took me a little bit, but with the candy stripe body and the cinnamon bear hair. The name Cinnamon Stick came to mind.
The Yellow Bear.
Nice fly with so many different name options just by changing colors of he wire and furs. I would call this one the “Cinnamon Bear”, thanks.
Of course you would say that, look at your user name! But unfortunately, a couple other folks already said this one. :-)
The Paddy O'Cinnamon Streamer, after Santa's Helper in the cartoon called Cinnamon Bear.
Hahaha! I love it Darrell. :-)
Bearly Wired Streamer. It's an interesting streamer that looks like so many of the older wet fly streamer patterns. Like the use of the bi-colored wire
Yes indeed Ralph! There's an old one called Blades' Weighted that using two colored wires for the body as well.
@SavageFlies Thank you. Will look it up and maybe be tie a few. I have black beard but not a cinnamon colored one. Can bleach a small piece but black usually will turn out orange. Thanks again. Really enjoy your presentations and research.
Red and white wire - call it the Barber Pole.
Ok, let's be a little bit different from the crowd I would call it "The Treadwell" after Timothy Treadwell 😂😂
The savage cinnamon bear streamer
Good morning Matt. "Cinnamon Bear" would be a good stripper name. I would just go with that!
Haha! This made the list but someone said it before you Daryl. :-)
The cinnamon raider
Nice fly Matt. I love the color of the fur. Call it "Bearly Hooked". Sorry you loss that fish. I can feel your pain.
Thanks Don! In my head, I put that fish in the win column. :-)
Nice little streamer! Bear Back
Nice looking fly. Calling it Yogi’s Basket has a ring to it, well to me anyways.
Funny you mention that. I love Yogi Bear and the family and I go to his Jellystone campgrounds all the time. :-)
I think you should call it “The 399” after the famous queen of the Tetons. 👍
Love this one, I had thought of Otis 480 in Alaska when I read this.
Great looking fly.. I think I would call it a “Jellystone special”
Oh man, I love going to Jellystone campgrounds! We used to take the kids when they were little. In fact, we're going to the one at Luray, VA over the 4th of July. Fun times. :-)
Iron bear steamer. Iron to represent the metal wire lol
Yogi’s honey pot. Excellent fly Matt.
Nice fish, sorry you didn't land it and sorry about your foot, but looks like it was a good night. As for the fly I'd just call it "Bearly Good". Have a great day!
I like the name "The Grizzly Dart." Very cool fly.
I like it Sean!
the bear bomber
“Lightening Rod” reminds of the time i left a copper wire wrapped trekking pole in an apple tree in my yard. lightening struck the trekking pole and knocked out the power to my house
Nice fly. CinnaYumm
Oh my gosh, nice fish and I would put that one in the win column. And that could have been bad with the rock. I will have to think on this one🤔
I would call it BearDown
Great looking fly Matt. Haven’t played in a while but let’s try Cinnamon Trout Crunch.
Nice play on the cereal! I like it. :-)
I would call it the Cinnamon Vixen
Heavy bear sleek
Nice one, Matt
I’d suggest to call it ‘Cinnamonster’
