I don't know if anyone reads these messages... I'm trying to find someone whose had experience on a First 44.7 and other boats of that size. I'm looking for a 40+ foot cruiser with blue water capability. I value being able to get to where you want to go as much as being comfortable. The First 44.7 seems to be a good choice, but I'd like to know if the First 44.7 actually performs better than say a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45 to justify getting one over a more traditional cruiser. If I can make 2 more knots and point 5 more degrees into the wind, that would be worth it... Anyone here?

Hello Jason... Happy to talk through the virtues of the virtues of the 44.7 over other options if you wish. We currently have a 44.7 for sale - in CAT if you are keen to take a look over.

@@yotisailing Hi, Thanks for replying. I'm in the US and can't just stop in. I'm really wondering if the sailing characteristics of the 44.7 is worth the tradeoffs of a less than ideal cockpit layout and the having to deal with an extra 3 feet of draft. I have no interest in racing, but the ability to point farther into the wind, especially at wind speeds above 20 knots, is a huge value for me. And I'd sure love an extra knot or two out of the boat... at least compared to a more traditional cruiser in that same size range. I can't afford to buy two boats and find out... Do you have any answers to these questions or could you put me in touch with someone with such experience? Thanks again. Jason

@@jasonmcintosh2632 Hi Jason... its a fairly simple equation, the 44.7 is an awsome racer / cruiser. It has a brilliant internal layout for cruising but the hull design makes it a fast offshore boat that will take you anywhere. If you can compromise on the cockpit the the 44.7 will give you exactly what you are looking for.
