He’s Alan in real life 😂😂😂😂
😂
Lol true! But also Alan is a nervous wreck. The actor seems to be very chill and self aware.
Hold up...
He has more money than Charlie now. Let that sink in.
Lol
Probably didn't hurt that 99.9% of the time his character was drunk or hungover.
"how do we keep our addict actor from abusing again?"
"Let's make his character constantly reaching for a glass of scotch"
🤔🤔
There are subtly different. The timing is not correct and what is said is more and more brittle
that's the best point ever made!! he was a party animal on the show....well...let the good times roll!!
😄👍
It got visibly worse from season 6 onwards. They obviously adapted scripts around his state on the day.
He sounds like he’s still in character
I was gonna say that lol he has the same movements and stuff, I think he can play only one role, which is himself a stingy brother lol
Him an Charlie literally played themselves 🤣
@@dannyc85 🤣

I love hearing the love and respect Jon still clearly has for Charlie. He speaks very sensitively and compassionately
Yeah bc Charlie sheen got that whole staff paid
Yes he’s lovely
I’d be talking nice about Charlie too if he was the reason I was getting paid $500,000 an episode without Charlie sheen that show wasn’t much we saw that after he was gone
It's not respect. Cryer doesn't tell Sheen's secrets and Sheen doesn't tell Cryer's.
I think it showing more of John's character. It's really isn't about Charlie at this point. John is just being a decent and respectful person.
Replacing Charlie Sheen with Ashton Kutcher was the biggest mistake ever.
I'm glad it ruined his career for was that Bruce Willis
What were they thinking.
In all fairness, no one could replace Charlie in this role. He made such a mark with this role that anyone afterwards would've fell short.
@@TuckerHopkins88 what
Kind of like replacing Michael J. Fox with Charlie Sheen in Spin City. It just didn't fit, wether or not he's a great comedic actor or not, he didn't fit the role, just like Kutcher in Two and a Half Men.
Cryer is such a sensitive actor and so in tuned with other actors that it stands to reason that he would notice the changes. What impresses me more is his diplomacy and obvious respect and love for Sheen. even when discussing a sensitive topic. Bravo!
Cryer always seemed like a stand-up guy - he struggles after some early success like in Pretty in Pink (he was fantastic). Glad he got his one big show.
Dunno about that sensitive thing dude, he explains why he understood what was going on with Charlie pretty plainly: he worked with him for 8 years
@@koba2348 Yup! True that!

the first 6 seasons are timeless comedy gold.
and Charlie really did look a lot older in the last 1-2 seasons with him ...
Yeah - he looked terrible

I remember at that time me wishing not for the show to end and that same month everything poped off
FFS - he WAS older - like 8 yrs older - its called ageing
Yeah I just watched 8 seasons of the show and I can tell something changed in charlie between seasons 5-6.
Charlie could have been injecting Absinthe into his veins, and he could still be funnier than the rest of the cast that came after him
Yes
then you are talking about the character not charlie sheen....
@@diegoabche nope charlie himself
Yup. And the writing got just utterly terrible too. They resorted to cheap gags. it was really pathetic comedy, buoyed only by the show's name and Kutcher's star power.

That period Chelsea left him?
Yep. That and exaggerated head movements. Vocal things too. Jon’s right. It was getting pretty obvious.
@@biffbifford402 True, I could see it in his face too. Something was different, the energy, the look as well as his movement. It was in fact that simple.
I am no expert on addiction, but for me what is most noticeable is the last scenes with Rose. He is rushing his lines to the point they are inaudible. Talking about Rose' s new husband in the Fashion Industry. I believe those are Charlie's last scenes on that show.

I loved Jon Cryer on the show, he’s such a good actor.
I can see him getting up after the interview and saying
"So wheres my room?"
It was never a masterpiece of a show but Charlie was funny on it. Even in his last season's he killed it. The show was never any good without him. I watched the first few episodes from the 1st season with Ashton & a couple episodes from the following seasons to see if they ever caught a groove & never laughed once. Obviously there are people who were still enjoying it but I just never found anything in the episodes I saw funny.
I’d have to disagree. The thought it was a masterpiece. Especially the chemistry between Charlie and Allen. Now I know it was a sexist show but it was freakin HILARIOUS.
Never a masterpiece? At one point he was the highest paid actor! Because of the shows success.
@@nigelnyoni8265 yes it was a masterpiece! It was the best show on tv for awhile. To each their own

Agreed. The show was sooo bad with Ashton Kutcher. It wasn’t the same show. They changed Alans character into something awkward. With Charlie the show felt genuine and his timing with Jon was just great.

Kelsey Grammar would show up for work on Cheers staggering drunk and when it came time to shoot a scene he would suddenly sober up and do the scene flawlessly. When the scene was over he would revert to being sloshed again.

He liked to party back in the day.
His sister died too I think she was murdered violently
Well he was in a bar... I just call that dedication to the character! :)
Don't underestimate the adaptability of a man named Kelsey
Why does it feel like I'm still watching Alan Harper even though I'm not watching the show??
Because he didn't have to change his personality. That's the idea of acting as its more congruent with a person's biological makeup than anything else. Take a look at Denzel Washington and how he portrays himself in reality as well as the movies. Great actors on set or camera are just acting themselves through the role.
@@TheMan-jz1ez but it goes against the word "Acting". Some actors adopt a character he or she isn't. I agree with you that he is a good actor.
@@AJ-qs4vw Here's the thing though. They aren't acting as themselves. They are using the authentic self to act through the character, and there's a difference. It's not like Denzal can take who he is completely, and play a character like equqlizer.

That's your opinion
In my views are mixed between you both fellas
I've seen actors who switch roles as cake in december
As well as actors who remain the same throughout their career
Sheen had several characters, romantic-funny-comedy-drama- then last being his character of Charlie in TaHM
Ashton is always the same guy
Keanu, seems to have the same vibe in most of his movies, either funny keanu or serious keanu
RDJ has had several characters, during his time on Marvel he remained the same, right now he's changing that
Secondary Characters are more open to switch their mood, as they don't have a strong signature, BUT they're still actors
@@mauriciosolano9342no one cares
There was a huge difference in Charlie’s appearance from season 7 to season 8- he aged like 10 years in one season
The algorithm works again!
Kudos to him for having charlies back
Charlie Sheen was the only reason anyone ever watched 2 & A Half Men. Ever since he left that show went down hill.
yep....
+PurpleSprite I agree. Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer were a good double act. Its like trying to replace Oliver Hardy with somebody else in a Laurel and Hardy film. It won't work.
I missed the re pour that went on with Charlie and Jake.
Nah man, it was the combination that worked.
Charlie by itself was nothing. Charlie + Alan + Young Jake was perfect. And you trown in Berta, their mother, rose, etc. It was gold
From season 3 - 5 , you could tell he was using , but seem to have control over it. His physical build was changing from decent build to being under weight. The last episodes of season 8 was obvious to everyone. He became painfully thin & his voice had changed! By all reports , he is doing much better now.
If you lose a two pounds a month for a year, the people that are you every day might not notice, but your relatives at thanksgiving won’t stop talking about your big change.
Both of these guys, Charlie and Jon make it a show always to remember. This and Married ...with children are just pure state of show art to me. Love every minute watching these two 👍
How did Charlie’s new show work out ? Lasted what 3 seasons? Both Charlie and Jon made a good team
Thats the truth together they are great them split up they are terrible!!! We need a reboot!!
One show had great writers , the other didn't!
@Wordsmith 430 Yeah, the plan for that show was meant to go for 100 episodes, so it did. I don't think anything revolutionary was supposed to go on with it in terms of content, just a workmanlike series that got its job done.
Do you know what he got paid per episode? 3 seasons, 100 episodes give or take. I would say not bad. Very few shows last 5+ years.

"if he was impaired, he was very good at hiding it“ is what I told the police after getting beaten up by a guy in a wheelchair
Ha, I click on this random clip from 7 years ago and I get to see a funny comment made 12 hours ago. Nice.
Oh except the first time I read it I thought it said "after I beat up a guy in a wheelchair" XD
Second that, cant stop giggling. Funny as
Henry Rollins tells a great story about the time he worked with Sheen on a movie called The Chase. Much of the cast were staying at a hotel near location, including Henry and Charlie. Shooting would commence fairly early in the morning so Henry asked the receptionist for a 6AM lobby call on every day of the shoot. One day, after coming down to the lobby, Henry noticed that Charlie was nowhere to be seen and Henry asked the doorman if he'd seen him. The doorman replied, "Oh yeah, I saw him being helped into the lobby this morning by a few of his buddies."
Uh-oh. This wasn't good. The star of the movie had gotten blackout drunk on a shooting day. Surely he'd be in no condition to work. As he was thinking that, the lift in the lobby dinged. Out stepped Charlie, looking pale, sunglasses on, somewhat fragile maybe, but otherwise composed. He went to shoot the day's scenes and did not miss a line. Not only that, but he was pulling double duty - he was filming The Chase during the day, and another movie called Major League during the evening. So, he was working 12 hour days at least, plus partying until the sun came up. And we wonder why he did drugs....
Fascinating interview
I just finished watching the charlie sheen episodes a few days ago and I can say now that the difference between his last season and the season before is very noticeable.

So tough watching a friend relapse.
You can say whatever you want about Charlie Sheen, but that show was hilarious with him. Between him, Alan, Jake and Bertha that show was great. It was not at all surprising it was impossible to replace Sheen lol

I always loved this show. I own the dvd box set! 😀
I thought Sheen had become detached emotionally from the show near the end. Not in anything he did specifically but just the entire mood of the show. It was weird but describing it as being somewhat ‘off’ is really accurate in my opinion.
he was honestly hurt wasn’t he.
R.I.P Larry King
For me, Alan was the best and most important character of the show. That's why it could still survive without Charlie and thrive, albeit being pretty much a different show with Ashton Kutcher.
For comparison, removing Alan instead of Charlie would have killed the whole show
Cause he is the half man
I think it would be dead without either of them. The Ashton episodes are unwatchable.
Yea i agree. No hate for Ashton tho, hes pretty good at what he does. But replacing someone is just impossible often. It just gets cringe.
Same with Top Gear..
removing Alan could've work but there would be a spot needed to be filled by someone since it was never a one man show. It could be Jake filling that role or a new character, Berta could've gotten a bigger role too. The show was great at showing the 2 ends of the spectrum remove one and it doesn't quite work, Kutcher was an attempt to fill Charlie's role but backfired and ended up being half and a half men.
No - Kutcher is an idiot - Charlie is a genius
Great show...
Love Charlie & Jon!!
I just realised this guy really looks like Roland Orzabal from Tears for Fears.

I couldn't tell watching it at the time but now when I go back and watch the final season he was in you can definitely see it in his eyes 100 percent but being a former addict myself maybe I know what to look for
He's right. You can see a difference in Charlie's acting in season 8.
As an addict myself, i worry about how my disease affects those around me when i relapse.. i was clean for 17 years, relapsed pretty good for 2 years, now Ive been clean for 3 months.. Honestly, its scary coz i dont think anyone really noticed
wish i had a friend like that . not. but that's how most people are today . he was the show.
Always considered Jon to be the best actor of the whole show, he played the role to perfection, loved his chemistry with Charlie especially when they went hard against their mom or Judith, also loved their fights. Charlie was second to me, he basically only played himself but did so brilliantly. Herb, Kandi and Berta are the best supporting characters. Really enjoyed Angus as well. Rose and Evelyn also added to the show. Never felt it with Judith, Lindsey and Chelsea.
The one where he woke up with a trimmed head, face down on the stairs. That, and when he got his eyes done.
Cryer kept it going because he was just as funny. But with Charlie and Cryer it was the best
Sheen looked gaunt during his final season of Men. It was obvious.
I noticed that too. On the first episode of his last season, I thought he was sick. He almost looked like he had cancer or something.

It’s true what Jon Cryer said. In the last season Charlie Sheen looked off and a little bloated in his last season.

He handled that question majestically, you can see the respect he has for Charlie not only from a professional standpoint but a personal one. Charlie’s personal issues have become so engrained in pop culture and synonymous with who he is that we neglect there was a human suffering from all too familiar and common affliction. The notoriety from his public bravado created this cult image of him that ultimately was a smokescreen causing the entire world to dehumanise him and somewhat celebrate his downfall. That’s just the nature of celebrity unfortunately Britney Spears is another prime example of fragile people being considered fair game all because they’re in the public eye. It was refreshing to hear Jon Cryer talk about Charlie like he’s an actual human being as opposed to some Hunter S Thompson like Cartoon character
