I was at the grocery store and observed a woman picking watermelons. I asked her how she picked a sweet one and she said it had to do with the color of where the stem attached. If it was a darker brown, it meant it was more mature and more sweet. I tried her technique and I think that is the key. 🍉❤️

@@ARCSTREAMS Yes, but picking a ripe fruit gives you a larger percentage chance of getting one that is flavourful and sweet. Unfortunately most fruit these days taste bland or even sour.

I cut and cube my whole watermelon and eat out over a 4 day period. It never loses sweetness and I use the bowl water to make a tasty watermelon lemonade.

tapping might indicate ripeness level but that is not a guarantee of it being sweet, fruit can be ripe and still not be sweet, my dad made a key chain device that allows him to take a small sample that the only way to be sure if its sweet

Do watermelons grow in the other direction in Australia?
Watermelons are just one of those, Happy Foods. Nobody eats a watermelon when they are sad. Because watermelons make you happy.
There is something very lovely and basic about a nice round melon. Some of them even great in pairs. Such as cantaloupe and honeydew. And what they can remind you of.
I don't like the watermelons that are not read inside. Yellow watermelon just doesn't do anything for me. It looks so blasé. It doesn't look as happy. It doesn't crunch the same way. As it does not crunch in red. It doesn't taste, red. Because it isn't.
And what are those horticulture students doing at University? Why have we not gotten, blue or green, purple colored watermelon meat? That would be so awesome! And so what are those horticulture students doing? What good are they? We've already got better marijuana. They already got rid of most of the seeds. How about mixing up the colors? Could you imagine? Blue watermelon meat. I can hardly wait!
Are they afraid of over genetic modification of watermelons? I mean really who cares? We are all going to die. And so we should also have green, purple, blue, orange colored, watermelon innards.
Crossing a watermelon with cannabis would be marvelous! Can you imagine? Grooving, from watermelon. Songs written about, watermelon. People taking vacations with, watermelon. Disney and Watermelon World. Where you travel through a Watermelon. To get to the other side.
Thank you for all the information. I think I have been picking my watermelons incorrectly all these years? No wonder I never liked the watermelons I purchased. I did it wrong. I looked for pretty consistency and uniformity. Fresh, young, shiny. Whoops.
Now I feel, educated, informed and empowered. To pick out a better watermelon for myself. Seedless variety. I don't miss all of those watermelon seeds. Science marches on! We don't have to deal with seeds in bananas. As our bananas no longer have seeds. And therefore. No new bananas can be grown. These are all old, Clones. Because they got rid of the seeds. Bananas would be no fun with seeds that would crunch. Neither are, watermelons. And only old-fashioned folk want watermelons with seeds. Just so they could spit them at people. And that's the only advantage. To having watermelons with seeds, still. Ugh! Not for me!
I don't spit. I swallow. When it comes to being fruity. That which I take in. With a smile.
