    I know the youtube is full of videos about Vincent Van Gogh in Doctor Who but I really love this artist for a long time and this episode - 5x10 - belong to my the most favorite and the most beloved episodes in this serial. So I just wanted to do my own tribute to this extraordinary painter this unique way.
    I hope you will enjoy...

    as an artist I wish all would be appreciated in their lifetimes. Unfortunately so many are like Van Gogh who were never appreciated in their lives and died feeling unloved and feeling less than mediocre.

    I heard it was recently discovered, that Vincent did NOT COMMIT SUICIDE.
    What happened was, that two teenagers were playing outside with the revolver of the father of one of them, and a shot was fired by mistake. It hit Vincent in the side (as he was painting outside as usual).
    The teenagers rushed to him in horror, and I think one of them said his father would kill him. So Vincent said something like: "I'll tell that I shot myself - they already consider me crazy so they will believe it".
    The truth was found just a few yeats ago, when a descendant of the boy who shot found his diary in an attick. He was so ashamed he did not let it be known.

      I did not.. But I have seen two very large Van Gogh exhibits in my lifetime. One at age 19 and one at about age 55. I found particular details of his paintings astounding, in his exactitude, especially in knowing that when he went out with Gauguin to paint, Gauguin would do sketches in the fields and Vincent would do complete paintings in 45 minutes or so. Unbelievable. Doing a cartoon panel in 45 minutes sounds crazy fast, but a complete Van Gogh painting that fast?!

    tInteresting idea, never thought to it. :) In my opinion, however, I prefer to think it wasn't related at all for once to wibbly-wobbley, timey-wimey stuff but to an elusive part of the being that could never be explained. It seems to me that breaking time laws wouldn't have change anything, because this tackles the question of depression and how even the Doctor isn't a magician in that field, and even though the Doctor is a complete hero he can't manage to sort Vincent's mental disorder out.

    • @Haseo123653
      @Haseo123653 Před 6 lety +2

      Sonmi Hae-Joo To me the Doctor wasn't trying to change Vincent or even stop him from killing himself. The Doctor knows that this point in history can not be changed, but to the Doctor Vincent was a great friend and knowing about his life, even if for a moment, give him some comfort in his life. In the grand scheme of things did the Doctor's actions do anything? No not really, but to this one man, those are moments he can cherish and remember for the rest of his life, even if those moments mean nothing to anyone else, at least to him those were one of the greatest moments of life along with the beautiful world he saw around him.
